    Hawthorne 4500 (3000 leaves and flowers + 1500 mg of berries) Craetagus Monogyna. Works well. Growing it in Australia is outlawed, due to it's rapid spread. I remember the amazing perfume from the flowers growing up in England. It is also beneficial for healthy skin. My parents both suffered with Angina and stroke. At 78 I am still good. Thank you Robin. My Canadian G.P. keeps me up to date on the Hockey!!!!

    I recently moved into a new house and in my garden I have two Hawthorn trees and two overgrown Hawthorn bushes. I started cutting the bushes back and then thought "if a plant is protecting itself with spines/needles it must produce fruit or flowers, I wonder if it has any benefits" 🤔
    Started researching and here I am 😊 🙏🏿🇬🇧🇦🇬

      If you’re looking for more traditional preparations there are many different ways and you don’t just use the seed, in fact it’s the berries that carry the majority of the active compounds I like. If you google crataegus oxyacantha monograph you will see that the dose and safety completely depends on how you prepare it. Monographs are what herbal medicine practitioners use to clarify how these various different preparations can be used safely. I hope that’s helpful.

    You say Hawthorne inhibits Arginine. But Arginine is recomended for Afib and heart health for Nitric Oxide production. Can you clarify please.

    • @dr.robinlewis
      @dr.robinlewis  Před 2 měsíci

      It blocks arginase*** Arginase is an enzyme that stops the production of nitric oxide. Arginine is one of amino acids needed for nitric oxide production. So essentially blocking arginase (which is what Hawthorne can do) or giving arginine both promote nitric oxide production which can be helpful for heart conditions like A Fib.
