    Get off the SAD diet and then saturated fats, which are the most stable fats are good for you. Check the new research on deli processed meats and nitrites if you can discuss it because more evidence shows they are healthy and have been around for thousands of years before refrigeration. New science shows health benefits. Please discuss! You are both smart and beautiful 😍. I see success in both your practice and social media.

    Very good presentation on fats, which are very important in the diet. You didn't mention seed oils(erroneously labeled vegetable oils) which are quite toxic polyunsaturates that are often villainized by YT health people. Five years ago I threw them all in the garbage can & haven't touched them since. I still eat cold meats, but I buy them from an Italian man who cures them all using air drying in his facility. He also sells Italian cheeses which I love. I don't worry about the saturated fat at all. I believe that the low fat & low salt diets promoted by doctors & the media have inflicted great harm on the populace. A book I highly recommend reading is THE BIG FAT SURPRISE by Nina Teicholz. Great job Dr. Lewis & I look forward to your videos!

    Very informative. Could you clarify on one thing because I keep hearing mixed answers in this? Can we cook with extra virgin olive oil or does the cooking cause it to go rancid?

    • @dr.robinlewis
      @dr.robinlewis Před 4 dny

      You can cook with it but you want to keep it at a low to medium heat. This is usually not much higher than 200 degrees Celsius. Also, the higher the polyphenols the more protected the oil is against the heat aka you’re less likely to see it smoke and go rancid.

    Your video was great! So informative and easy to understand. My 14 yr old son got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes this year along with ADHD. He was having adverse reactions to the adhd meds, so the doctor ran a gene test. Found out he has MTHFR - C677T T/T homozygous, reduction rate of 70% of folic acid. We've also noticed behavior changes in him. One of my questions is how do you go about finding the right supplement? I just don't trust the Amazon reviews a lot of them are sponsored, same with you tube and google. I want to get him the best, he's struggling, and he's really an awesome kid. Right now the doctor put us on Amazon supplement methylpro brand 15mg. I am thinking he needs also the methylated vitamin that has The- folate , gluthianone , and b12 and Sam-e . I've had no lucking finding all those ingredients in one :( I did here about the prescription called deplin (cost is high!), and I do have a order for Denovo w/b12 on the way. But any info on where or how or what to look for would be awesome! Or if you have any recommendations for doctors like you in Ohio that would be awesome!

    A homocysteine blood test is by far cheaper and easier than a DNA test, and actually shows if any DNA polymorphisms are causing a methylation cycle dysfunction. If homocysteine is raised then it's time to get a DNA test to see why. Mine was at 48 umol/L when I required my first coronary artery stent. Now due to Hyperhomocysteinemia Accelerated Atherosclerosis I've required six more angiograms and 5 more stents in just the past four years.

    • @dr.robinlewis
      @dr.robinlewis Před 9 dny

      Yes, that is mostly correct. Having the MTHFR gene mutation or other genetic methylation issues does not guarantee you will have a problem with homocysteine and the only way to confirm it’s a current problem is a blood test.

  • @drytropics
    @drytropics Před 9 dny

    SAMe can actually raise homocysteine in some people. Creatine is better and safer and leaves about 50% of available SAMe for other purposes.

    Hi, Dr. Lewis! Your information and breakdown was extremely helpful. I found that anytime I take choline supplements (CDP-Choline and/or huperzine-a) or even just eating eggs I get depressed and have no motivation to do anything. The same happens when I take l methionine. I recently found some information online (there isn’t much about it though) about others that have similar responses and one person commented that it is likely caused by a MTHFR methylation issue. I went back and looked at my results and sure enough, I have the C677T variant. Are you familiar with why this is? How does choline interact with the methylation cycle and what could potentially cause this uncommon reaction?

    • @davidvonallmen19
      @davidvonallmen19 Před 3 dny

      I also have the C667T variant and have had all sorts of problems with energy and lethargy. I eat eggs every single day for breakfast and it never occurred to me that the eggs could be causing this problem. I thought those of us with methylation deficiency are supposed to do better by supplementing choline and methionine. Maybe I'll cut them out and see if there's a difference, but I would love to hear any input you have on this, Dr. Lewis. And @bigchungus6958 if you could link to any discussions of this you think would be informative, I would greatly appreciate it!
