    Not sure if I missed it, but free and Bio available testosterones are slightly different markers, right? Very simple and clear explanation, not to mention very easy on the eyes 😅

      Yes they are different as bioavailable is free T plus the T that is bound to albumin. This is because the albumin bound T is utilized easily and therefore still available, if that makes sense! Thank you for the kind words and I’m glad you enjoyed it!

    hi dr Lewis I’m glad I found your channel could you please help me out. So I’ve been on TRT for 8 weeks due to low T. First off I feel amazing I have more energy and my sleep has been quite good.. I had blood work done a month ago and my cholesterol level was 240 with my hdl being at 34… I’ll admit my diet was not up to par and I do have a history of steroids abuse, prohormones which really messed me up hence why I got low T before going on TRT. my doctor gave me a month to lower my cholesterol before medications and so I got my cholesterol down to 173… she still prescribed me statins which I am
    Currently taking with trt… Should I be concerned while taking both? I’m really concerned for my heart and for years I’ve also been taking coq 10
    And fish oil.

      @dr.robinlewis  Před 11 měsíci

      There any issue with combining the 2 drugs but you may notice with time, as your testosterone normalizes, that you don’t need the statin! I’m glad your on CoQ10 though. That’s should help counteract some of the side effects that come with the statin. 🙂

    What about for women..?

    • @dr.robinlewis
      @dr.robinlewis  Před 5 měsíci

      Testosterone deficiency is common in women as well. Of course there are other hormones like estrogen that play a role too and when women are deficient in estrogen (aka menopause or premature ovarian failure) this too can elevate your cholesterol! I hope that helps clarify 🙂

    They don't discern between age brackets in kidney function either. A normal 20 year old has a gfr of 90 plus, but a 60 year old with a gfr less than 90 is considered to have stage 2 CKD. Like a 20 year old can get their heart up to 220 beats but a 60 year old can only do 170 because organ function and capacity decreases with age.

    • @dr.robinlewis
      @dr.robinlewis  Před rokem +1

      You’re absolutely correct! It’s a big issue in medicine. There needs to be more of a discussion on the nuances.

      If it’s early days on the therapy it might normalize when your body adapts! Just keep checking to make sure your testosterone levels don’t get too high 😊

    Does soy lower testosterone?

    • @dr.robinlewis
      @dr.robinlewis  Před rokem

      It shouldn’t no. It has phytoestrogens but those don’t impact testosterone levels and don’t behave the same as actual human estrogen in the body 😊

      @@dr.robinlewis good points, I am looking to lower my insulin levels. I am not diabetic & never want to be. I buy Chuck Roast pasture raised and Sous Vide for 14 hours, heavenly - almost melts in your mouth. The fiber is scary as since it keeps out bad stuff it must also keep out good stuff. What do you think? Magnesium is kept out by fiber for example. Plants can block good things with anti-nutrients is my take. My shall see. I feel way better and am not eating sweets as I really have no appetite for them.
      Keep up the good video content!!! Thanks much…
