- I bought a Motorbike! Transportation options in the Philippines đ”đ Province
I purchased a motorbike in the Philippines province to get around the country. This video we talk about transportation options in the Philippines such as Jeepney, Tricycle, bus and others. I break down what is available to expats living in the Philippines and why I chose a scooter over a car at this point. The Bike is a Yamaha NMAX 155cc

Good video, exactly what I was looking for..
Very nice little bike. Looks comfortable.
I was hoping you'd take it for a spin!
Very cool Mr. Laway. You bought a motorcycle much like what the Filipinos use when I know you could afford to buy a big bike much like most of the expats living in Angeles City. But I like it, you are being very practical. Your fellow expats could learn so much from youđ - Your fan here in A.C, Pampanga
Nice bike, I'm in Mindanao, Bislig. I catch the yellow bus to Davou on occasion. Last time in Davou I went to Samal Island. I thought it would be nice to have a scooter to explore the island. Thanks for the heads up on registration and how the LTO works. Have fun.
Im looking forward on ur next vid abt ur tour wd ur bike!!!!!
Good cruising scooter and Ride safe Dr Laway!

Hey, that's good for you. That a very convenient transport vehicle in city more especially in province life. Good pick. đđ
Thanks đ
Congratulations..drive safely and enjoy.the.places u want.to.explore
Thanks!
Good idea buddy have fun this country smileđđđ
Thanks đ
Oh, you're going to love it here. Lots of beautiful places to see, especially the beaches and mountain roads that leads to breathtaking views. Just be aware, road rules are more of a suggestion to a lot of drivers and riders. And a lot of the locals are very friendly for sure but just be careful with people who just see you as a dollar sign walking. Ride safe, rubber side down always and all that. Cheers.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Excellent choice of bike. I know because that's my bike too. I have the keyless 2.1 version - a silver one. Got my registration back after 3 weeks. You're just dying to take the bike out and just clean and stare at it waiting to ride, waiting for that registration to come. But yeah, that bike will indeed take you places. Easy and comfortable to ride on. Now you gotta do motovlogging and travel to new places! Ride safe!
You can follow up that registration often in the LTO itself or online. You have to have that temporary plate or License plate and ORCR with you and all that motorcycle documents.
The thing that I found for me on the scooters is that the handle bars aren't wide enough for the width of my shoulders. The mirrors were completely ineffective for me as they were adjusted so far out that I couldn't see what was coming up behind me which with people passing on both sides is unexceptable and extremely dangerous. I guess you could put wide bars and extended cables and wiring but that would be an extreme hassle and letting one of these so called factory trained mechanics loose on your new bike is a recipe for disaster. The twist the wire together and electrical tape is the common practice and when you mention connectors or soldering they just look at you funny and proceed with mutilating your new bike . I had a throttle cable replaced on a 2020 tvs and they literally destroyed the wiring harness by pulling on the wires instead of the connectors. this was at wheeltec so don't let these idiots near your bike and if you have to replace something Google it and do it yourself . I now have to replace the headset wiring harness and the floor board because when they took it apart they forgot one of the main fastners and snapped the plastic. The two hundred pesos project has turned into a two thousand pesos project by the time i get done buying the parts and account for my time to replace all the damaged components.
I started watching your video since i saw you and the park haha
New subscriber from Philippines
BTW, Like your informative videos as a Westerner living here too..
I would love to know more about the cost of bike, reg, and other unexpected costs. A very sharp looking bike, I do love the color combination
Excellent choice bro, NMAX good for long rides with comfort and power.
Good choice sir, i have a Yamaha nmax 155, I bought it last 2018, the fuel efficiency is superb. very comfortable to ride. and has a huge under seat compartment. suitable for traffic places & long rides. its more better if you put a huge Alloy top box on the rear so u can carry more things.
nice motorbike,good job man.
The funny remarks đ I like your sense of humor
New sub here. Enjoy the Philippines and it's beautiful people.đ God bless. â€ïž
Thanks for subbing!
Hello, new subscriber here welcome to the philippines â€ïžđ”đ
Thanks for subbing!
Same here
When I lived in Malaybalay, the common transportation is a motorella which is a motorbike with essentially a small jeepney built around it.
Good video brother!
Appreciate it!
Great buy depending on what you need. I would've opted for the newer model in xmax or the new ADV but still it's convenient for your size. I bought the Honda Click 125i and I literally put so many upgrades on it it's perfect. It speedy and both big and small enough to go anywhere. We should get together man, I live here in Tacloban City.
Good choice on the brand and make. Yamaha 49cc was my first scooter now I have a 300cc Honda scooter. My next one is a NC750X Honda. I like automatics. I dont like the small tires. I like the storage and a step through. Cheap on fuel. Have fun.
I live in Central Otago NZ and I brought a NMAX 155 as a run around bike as my Honda ST1300 tourer is useless at commuting. The NMAX is awesome cant fault it.
Thanks for the info
Alternatively, you could've bought a Honda PCX 160, it's got a bigger underseat space 30 liters and larger fuel capacity at 8.1 liters.
Dr laway since you got a bike now donât forget to swingby in my hometown masbate city just cross from cebu city to masbate then cross to bicol province okdok! Alright buddy be safe out there!! God bless you!!
Perfect choice on the motor đ
Thank you so much!
Hello.. am your new subscriber from Bukidnon
Hello merl, thanks for subscribing!
The scooter looks awesome when I get there I hope to get the same type of scooter. The safety-related thing I see and this is only based on other vloggers riding in some of the provinces at night would be the fact that it's all black which is nice. Not sure if a few bits of reflective tape or a white helmet would help. I've heard other vloggers complain about running up on other scooters not realizing they were there because they don't bother to replace or fix tail light issues, not sure if a working tag light is necessary in the Philippines.
Yup some trikes are akin to sardine cans for us kanos! We have a Suzuki car but some dirt roads are best left for scooters so we also have a Yamaha 155 to use as backup
Nice bike and speedyđ
Nice bike. Ride safe!!
Thank you so much!
Best choice of transportation if living in the Philippines. Its a bummer though during the rainy season but you get used to it. The father of my friend who was from Belgium moved to the Philippines just because he could ride all year round and has been living there since the early 90s
Yeah the rain gets you stuck sometimes, but the storms don't seem to last very long in the area I have been in so far.
Would love to see you travelling from city to city or from one island to another and explore those places đ
Was hoping for a test ride or a speed test. or a short review maybe about the bike.
U should try visiting the municipality of maragusan, specially the sea of clouds
that scooter looks hard for sure, good purchase.
you should get 400cc scoots instead, so you can Enter express ways here in PH if you're planning on touring the whole PH on a bike. đ
great choice. people have been choosing this over other bikes in the past few years
Yeah apparently it is really popular now
@@DrLawaytravels as scooters, i would prefer an adv though... but im happy with my suzuki gixxer. ohh and i think theres an nmax group here in digos if you want to join (yeah im also from digos)
love the backgroun only lds would know haah
motorcycle/motorbike/bike-as-you-call-it here in ph espicially in towns = convinient/convinience. nice ride, sir.hope you enjoy your stay here in ph.stay safe and God bless.
Thank you so much!
Nice ride man. Ride safe.
Thanks đ
I would hope to have something for around the area small and then a big touring bike with luggage and tail trunk. 900cc or bigger. Oh.. Congrats on the nice scooter.đ
Good choice, riding an NMAX too
Nmax , nice scoot. ride safe, a lot of dogs roaming in the street sometimes, slow down when you see one, got 2 accident on dogs.
How much was the bike?
Greetings from Dublin Ireland đźđȘ..
Good information thanks for sharing đ
I like the way you lay out all the transport options and prices..
Thanks! 124,000 php
Nice scooter. Smart getting a model with the fatter tires for wet roads. I will still get a car because of aircon and rainy season. Editing for I was waiting on a price. I must also say 155 is the perfect power for outrunning dogs that give chase! LOL Thanks for sharing. Found your cost of approximately $2480.00 USD Again thanks for sharing!
Just subscribed đ€đđ€
Hello Jet*, thanks for subscribing!
That's a good decision to buy your own transportation.
I got nmax as a gift from my dad last year. Although, I'm used to riding a manual trans, I like how convenient a scooter is. No, wonder why scooter is the trend here in Asia.
Ride safe.
Trust me it's gonna be worth it once you have the Papers and registration you will save alot of money. I bought mine back in 2017 and i only use my scoot in the city, and im not going outside the city back then when i didnt have the papers but i got it within a month and now my scoot has 98,000 km on it! you will save alot so its a good choice..
Thats a good bike sir for someone like the size of you.iys a maxi scoot. Its very reliable motorbike and very comfortable to ride on. Good choice, wise decision.
Yamaha nmax very nice midget use scooter in the country. Enjoy and safe ride sir
You may want to meet up with Mike of Making It Happen Vlog who is now in Bicol but is driving through Samar and Leyte on his motorcycle to Siargao in Surigao del Norte. There are other foreign vloggers based in Siargao Island that you can then meet while you check out the surfing scene there.
Good mornin man
Change your tire for better road grip
wish i could to place, looks awesome
Nice bike to get in and around town, looks more like a moped than a motorcycle. I might need to get a new car when moving to Manila soon since I will be driving family members in and around town, hate to get wet and rained on all the time exposed. Thx for sharing. Peace out!!
Car is nice when it is raining for sure
I guess you don't understand the difference, by day to day standards in the Philippines this is a relatively powerful and sophisticated scooter.
wow a new one, yahama Nmax excellent
welcome here in Philippines
Try Philippines loop with your bike registers to tourism ofc.
Yes, speaking first hand here. Get the registration before your travels
No problem, or not much in the province but while passing cities and you already know you'll stick out for the traffic police, be safe..
Hi.. New subscriber here
Gio in the Philippines has the same scooter and recommends it.
good choice and i have that bike too
Important things don't forget ware helmet and shoes. South to north enjoy.â€â€â€
What camera are you using ???
It`s perfectly clear !!!
Ride safe sir
Good vid Bro, đ«Ąđ«Ąđ«Ąđ«Ąđ«Ą
Thank you!
DEYM NICE BIKE SIR!!!
Thanks!
That's one of the best bikes there maybe even better than the Honda PCX because of the dual ABS and little quicker.Enjoy!
Mean looking machine! Black on black.
I love my motorcycle! Went with a TMX Supremo 150 v3 though. I just have too much girth for a scooter.
Wow Nmax very good and fast scoot! You can go around the philippines with that scoot and it will save you alot of money. :)
That's the plan! Hope it works out đ
It is common these days to see Filipinos reaching " American size" . The unlimited rice at Mang Inasal helps speed up the process. Love the scoot and that bandanna helps to accentuate that biker look.
You could a "Kingcab" motorcycle somewhat a tricycle for cargo or shopping trips. 150 or 200cc
Good choice buying a Yamaha N Max 155! I bought a new one in Bali some years ago. Now it is very popular here in Davao del Sur. U can pimp it up with all kinds of extra equipment and bling bling. I would recommend a crash guard, some LED extra lights and a luggage rack with a top box on it. The engine has a special camshaft system that gives max torque at all speeds. Now I got a Honda XR150 coz I like to go even on dirt roads.
It IS irritating that you have to wait so long for the registration though.
Already looking for a top box this week! Thanks for the other suggestions as well!
good choice i also bought the nmax.
Good choice, nmax is perfect for long travel
You have the right idea on the motorcycle I was there on Davao Got tired of borrowing sister-in-law's bike And bought a brand new one it is still there they use it I am anxious to get back there I love the country and the people For now we are stuck in Oklahoma
New sub youre good man
Thanks for the sub!
Yes definitely much more good if you buy motorcycle than car, there are so many car in the philippines that's why it so traffic!! During traffic its more accesible to use motorcycle because it can easily enter in narrow space. Nowadays more and more people in the philippines are using motorcycle to avoid traffic.đđđ
Unfortunately most of the people who die in traffic accidents are on under powered and overloaded scooters and tricycles. Perhaps it is easier to get around but because there are no rules a 300 pound motorcycle has no chance against a 3000 pound vehicle.
Great article but regarding the scooter, do you need to pass a test first and guess you need insurance of some kind?
