- Lewis checks in this week from sunny California! As Lewis heads up to San Francisco for a show, he has one question for Georgia Senate Republican candidate Hershel Walker…really? Herschel, REALLY? It’s come out in the news recently that the former pro football player has paid for an abortion for a woman he was having a relationship with. Even though he’s representing a party that is anti-abortion, does this recent revelation make him pro-abortion? Oh, and by the way, don’t elect someone who can’t contribute anything. That’s no way to run a Senate. Anyway…moving on from that…if you’re ever in the area, be sure to stop by Albertson’s in Paso Robles, California. They have absolutely terrific wine at great prices. Unfortunately, our host didn’t get to make a stop there this trip, but he highly recommends it if you’re ever in the area and looking for phenomenal wine. Also on this trip, Lewis got to stay at one of his favorite places in the country, the Mission Inn in Riverside, California. At the Mission Inn, there are two beautiful parrots, a red feathered female Macaw and a striking blue feather male Macaw. After his shows in California this weekend, Lewis has a little time off and is heading back to the Palm Desert (where he was at the start of the week) to meet up with some friends and maybe even play some golf again. Last time Lewis played golf out there, it was so hot and just felt like the sun was right above your head. Hopefully for the next round of golf it won’t be so hot and our host can focus on his game.
The live rants come from this past weekend’s shows at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside, CA and the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Low unemployment is bad because then you don't have a bunch of people who NEED a job. As an employer, you'd have to pay them more, and we can't have that (can we?). Employers want to low-ball job applicants, and too few people looking for a job gets in the way of maximizing profits. I am sure there is a Rule of Acquisition for this, but have no clue of the number.
Yeah in a real estate lobby in the developers wanting f****** inflate engage rent how the f*** are you supposed to move and then they don't want you to be poor so then you got people who f****** work and live on the goddamn street or in their car or a shelter if they're lucky

My wife attended a conference for authors and their readers at the Mission Inn in Riverside a few years ago. It has to be experienced in person; photos don’t do it justice.

If you are ever able to go to the Mission Inn at Christmas time it is so beautiful. Spent many years there with my grandparents and parents and now our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren.

The reason corporate America complains about low unemployment is that they know people will quit more readily, they will not tolerate as much bullshit when there is a shortage of workers, more so if their job is a high skill one. There needs to be a lot of people who still believe in the system, people who just check out of the the economy (more or less) aren't desired at all, they need to be making money for someone rich or they don't deserve to eat apparently.

It used to be raining virtually all the time in Seattle, and some miles North, before this year, 2022. Normally, there is very little rain in summer (June through August). The rest of the year, it rains (with a little snow thrown in) mostly every day from September through May. Except for this year. Northwest Washington is in the tight grip of a severe drought with maybe ONE day of rain a month, fires, and horrible smoky air quality. I guess Southern California, and global warming, decided to share its mild weather, dry air and smog, and fires with its neighbors to the North! Thanks, Southern California! The part of the state that I hate (even though I was born there!) Keep your climate to yourself! We don‘t care to share!!! And we don‘t like brown and straw landscapes! We are used to all our beautiful green and colorful autumns with reds, cinnamons, oranges, yellows, and gorgeous flowers, ivy, laurels, and beautiful evergreens! 😮😢
I moved to Pierce Co. in 2015 to take care of my mother. She died a couple of months before the pandemic & I got on with my life moving to a new apartment and getting back to work.
Before I continue I want say I think Washington is very lovely and green. I found spring especially amazing with all the blooming trees and shrubs. However, I decided to move back to California a year ago because I missed the sun. It wasn’t the rain, but the frequency of the gray up there. Of course being there in 2020 for the worst of the Covid lockdown seemed to accentuate the gray. Too gray for me.
I’m sorry you all are having a smoky time. I still have a lot of family up there & and feel for you all. Where I am in NorCal we have been spared this year.

When driving California interstates & highways this time of year one is struck by how dry the rolling landscape is. Both Northern and Southern Cal look crispy by fall. Scary.
Enjoyed tremendously the closed-captioning rendering "parrots" as "parents" and "Paris". Nearly everyone who is or was interested has seen the latter f***ing, and anyone who's been witness to the former has likely been doing their best to forget it most of their formative and adult years.
