Lewis Black's Rantcast #49 - Jeff Bezos Is An Evil Overlord
Vložit
- čas přidán 12. 07. 2021
- Three billionaires are currently in a race to get to space, of course there’s nothing more pressing to the people of earth right now than to have the news spend a Sunday morning talking about it. In a time when people are having trouble paying for healthcare or a house, we have the news giving us commercials for something only rich people can do. It’s conflicting, because while space exploration is important, this is such a weird time for this to happen. When we have a cracked system from the pandemic it’s Virgins vs Amazons dominating the Sunday news cycle. But hey! With any luck, a petition to keep at least one of the evil overlords in space could help us out, right?
Meanwhile, on the ground people are still fighting science. Both with the vaccine to bring the pandemic to its knees or the fact that half of the US is on fire because of climate change. Lewis is considering turning the articles he reads about it in to his act, just a reading the facts to get chuckles.
The rants this week continue to explore people’s anger toward what it means to act like an American and degradation of what it means to fly the flag these days. The simple lack of respect people have when it comes to returning a shipping cart where they belong. The growing disdain for how bosses are treating their employees, whether it be blue collar work or on the healthcare frontlines; one in particular hitting Lewis personally as it relates to care for the elderly. A military vet who feels the current military has become soft. Ending with a rant about how the politicization of the COVID vaccines have divided families.

#LewisBlack #Rantcast #podcast - Komedie
These Billionaires should be taxed to hell and back.
Correct. THAT'S how we built the Eisenhower Interstate system. It's time to rebuild the whole thing.
"Mired in yesterday" is the best way to describe this mess. Lewis Black is a poet.
Lewis is an amazing human that understands humanity. We need more like him. His rants may be mired in humor, but I respect his rants.
You're right. I was thinking the same about "holy fucknut on a stick".
Thank God for you Lewis. I was about to go to bed and I saw this video. Now i can go sleep in peace. Love you.
Me too. Lewis makes much of the unbearable almost tolerable...
As someone who is facing homelessness, health issues, and unemployment, let me say that listening to your rants makes me feel so much better. I've loved your comedy since the beginning. Thank you Lewis!
Im an atheist, but I literally prayed that space would just keep Bezos.
You may have become a theist

@thegreen iguana You're why people hate capitalists, because you think the only thing that matters is how much money you have. I'm all for getting rich, but I'm also for ethical behavior and moderation.
@thegreen iguana I never said I hated the guy. Working hard does NOT equate indecent wealth or I would be; breaking down others, war, cheating, scamming, lying, dumping toxins into the earth, air, water, and now space, etc those bring indecent wealth. Talk what you know, otherwise in the words of Socrates...STFU

Yet the news has ignored the ARTEMIS Program
Artemis Program is the NASA lunar mission to establish a permanent human lunar presence, SpaceX won the contract for the lunar lander. ARTEMIS I is scheduled for November 22 2021 and ARTEMIS III for 2024. ARTEMIS is the real stuff. First women to walk on the moon, hence the name.

I’m happy to hear the rants because it’s nothing but truth.
Please God. Let Louis Black, meet up with Al Franken, and do a comedy series. I need a heart attack from laughing.
OMG that would literally kill me, but who cares 🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡
Al Franken with Lewis black. What a great idea I hope you’re listening Lewis.
@JPI: How about throwing Jimmy Dore in the mix with them?
@@lisamay5649 let's not confuse the issue. It's not that I'm opposed but too many chefs will make a soup real crappy.
Oh my god, I've been hoping for that team up for years now, those two together would be absolute comedy gold
Hey, Uhm, potheads (and more) have been in the military since day one.
One of my favorite memories was hanging in the back of a five ton, on field exercises, smoking hash with my crew.
I love how Lewis goes from talking calmly and takes it up to an eleven with no warning 😎
Oh, are we still pretending that Bezos isn't Lex Luthor? He's not going up there to tour space, he's going up there to find out why his doomsday laser isn't done yet.
"Miss Tessmacher!! Miss TESSMACHER!!!! " I'll never understand why i love those lines but Gene Hackman fucking nailed it *ok fine: That line. it's one line. jesus i'm an idiot. Click here to join the class action lawsuit
And he's taking hostages.
He missed his docking with Oumuamua Mothership.
Bezos is pissed because the upgrades to the Jewish Space Laser aren't done and he's got to pay a visit to kick some butts...
Never say the end Lewis, we’d be lost without your intelligence, wit, and ability to make us laugh at our follies.
Always nice to hear a voice of reason, Lewis. Very much appreciate your perspective, as well as your comedy. Keep it up Sir :)
And let's give a special thanks to Chevron corporation and general motors for tearing down all of the electric car companies throughout the United States. Hip hip hurray ☹️ and I thank them for the first stage smog alerts we had in junior high school in the early 70's where we couldn't even go out on the playing grounds because the air quality up in Los Angeles so bad near glendora.
“Autumn in Los Angeles when the birds change color and fall from the trees”
-Lily Tomlin
How many days was it into the lockdown that the skies in smog cities across the world were clear? I've been afraid to recheck since cars were back out on the roads en force. I remember back in high school, we did a class project where we got to ask some high mucketymuck in federal government questions and he's choose some to answer. Mine was, "If 1% of the country's money would clean the smog from LA, why isn't it being spent?" The answer was that 1% was too much (of course it was). Look, no money spent and voila!
They did in the electric car in 1911, then trolleys I rode on in 1957. Goodyear rubber and oil companies to thank for that.

EXACTLY!! Those smog alert days found me gasping for pain-filled breaths. Recall, too, it was Then they banned leaded gasoline in CA and several gross polluters shutdown their factories… VOILA! Smog alerts in the San Fernando Valley decreased by ten fold despite population exploding and the number of cars tripled!! During the Same era, Salt Lake City started their Green Days when nobody was allowed to have fires - BAM!!! SAME RESULT!!! Repugnicans complained the whole time about ‘regulations’ but the skies were clearer and my asthma “went away”.
I love that “ up there looking at edge of tomorrow whilst down hear we are stuck in yesterday “ got to be a lyric for a song. Maybe you should write some songs Lewis, and make and album.
In 1790s France the Jacobins would have had something to say to a guy as rich as Bezos.
OH Robespiere . . .
The Bolcheviks said much the same thing in 1917.
Don't forget that after they went after the monarchy etc. they then went after each other.
Where do the pitchforks come in?
Say and do.
Of COURSE the New Yorkers were just walking through the water in the subway, Lewis!
They're WALKING here!😂😂
It's always a pleasure Lewis.
"Ranting like a lunatic." That's one of the best parts!
You won't run out of material, hell of a lot to rant about now days! 👍
As far as the word patriot and the American flag are concerned - I couldn't agree more. Hearing Lewis read that was like hearing the words coming from my own mouth.
Jeff named the phallic substitute he calls a ship after his Mom.
if I was Elon... I'd name mine after Jeff's Mom, too.

Seeing Lewis Black live is officially on my bucket list. I never got to see George Carlin in person. I am damn sure not going to miss Lewis Black. He is always ranting what I am thinking. I used to worry about it and now, I have learned to embrace it. Thanks Lewis.
Lewis, Can't Stop, Won't Stop and I appreciate you all the more for it!!
Thank you 😊
You'll be seeing me for sure, Lou!!!! I'm coming to Nashville in October and couldn't be more excited!!! Can't wait!!!
Love you, Lewis. Keep on bringing it like you do...
Its all about where you are on the "food chain."
Nobody said capitalism is fair. Most experts agree by its very nature it creates poverty, absurd wealth and extreme poverty.
That grab bag of rants was a powerful catharsis that I never even knew I needed! Thank you!!!
The start of a joke for the Roaring Into Space Twenties... "Three billionaires go up into space..."
All 3 die while in Van Allen's radiation belt as any human does when reaching high orbit! Hmmmm.
@@bobbob2890 Might that not depend on how they got that high in the first place? Some burn out even before getting off the ground. 🤯
Thank you, Mr. Black, for taking the rant that we're all feeling and blasting it out there. It saves a lot of us the inevitable heart attack from either stifling that shite or going down another path we don't need (such as yelling at our friends or some innocent bystander). Laughing sure beats crying and ending up sitting in a heap in a corner somewhere, playing with our lips, "bluh, bluh, I dunno no more! Don't ask me! I only used to be scientist; ha! Sure learned my lesson, lol, lol, lol!"
Thank you Lewis. ❤
Right on Lewis! Greetings from England. Live Long and Prosper Lewis. Thanks again for reading out my rant from “Rach from old England “

Dear "uncle Lewis" Peace darling man! You are so astute with expressing your moral outrage. You remind me of my dear Uncle Bert at the holiday dinner table. Fun Times. thanks.
So nice to see you here, Lewis!!! Thanks for all your opinions and content and humor!!!!
Lewis is ambrosia for the soul. One of the best comics - dare I say ever.
As the great comedian Bill Hicks said, "If you are in advertising, "blank," yourself"
Yes.. the weather is freaky... I've tried to feed the cats three times today.. each time.. no clouds.. then it fuckin' rains!!!
I wish you were an Official news anchor!
Great rant Lew!!! New tour name….Meteorologically Speaking ;).
I totally can relate to the rant about the American Flag. I am an Intersex and Transgender female. Fortunately, it isn't obvious. I relate because 40% of the time people here in Virginia who wave that flag would harm me if they knew what I am. I am so intimidated by our flag now that I know to stay away from people who display that flag. To me, it tells me I am "Not Welcome"
I moved in with my mom to take care of her. I worked in hospice and saw the reality of 'homes' of several types. I swore I wouldn't put my mom in one, ever. I was able, and I wanted to care for mom. She passed in 2017. She would have died from the Trump nightmare and I am glad she missed this nightmare.
In reference to his lady's rant about her sister's place of work.... I get comments all day long, how rich people deserve the money they have.. and don't begrudge them.. I do.. when they're saving money during the pandemic, give themselves a raise from all the money saved from outsourced work and working from home employees, then don't share it with them, then lay them off.. wtf..
That has been the business model in America for a long time now... One manager I had at a former job doing inventory, said to my face about the forklift drivers numbers i was auditing each week. He doesn't care if there's a revolving front door of workers being hired or fired just give him the numbers he wants when he wants them... To management everyone underneath them is expendable and should be pushed as hard as possible.. I watched this guy implementing production standards that pushed people as far as he could legally get away with.. and since it's a big conglomerate company there's thousands of guys and girls just like my old boss that once any power is attained they will do anything to keep it...
Everything gets written off in the end tax Wise so they will make sure to pad their bank accounts first... The guy off the street they hire to work to death doesn't have a chance at succeeding to begin with..
They have constructed another hierarchy of bs you need to navigate to make any money at a job anymore...
Later on after I had left that company, I found out my boss and two other managers were stealing damaged cooking oil palates and reselling them for their own profit.. then the reason I was fired made perfect sense because I was going to find out sooner or later their scam and was fired first chance he got to cover his tracks....
Greed and selfishness rules in the business industry at every level.
Sounds like a good deal to me, so why don't you do what they have done? None of them were born rich. WTF, it must be easy. Why don't we all do it. Musk put everything he had into SpaceX and if the 4th launch of the Falcon hadn't succeeded, would have gone bankrupt. We don't do it because we don't have the brains or balls to do it I don't envy them and I certainly don't begrudge them.
@@kenfarris8069 Musk was born rich.. If you read his memoirs, his father made so much money, Elon and his brother would stuff their pockets and go on buying sprees into diamonds, and would sell to merchants. And taking chances is certainly much easier when you have a dispensable income...
@@ursaltydog Might want to dig a little deeper in your research. He was born into an upper middle class family in South Africa, wealthy, but not rich. When he moved to Canada he received no financial support and worked his way through college, graduating with 100k in student debt. His money came from creating and then selling computer programs, Zip2 and Paypal. He used what he had then to buy into Tesla and turned it around. Then he threw it all into creating SpaceX in a boom or bust situation. He is a self-made man.
@@kenfarris8069 Upper middle class as his father owned more than one mine... and he made tons of money off the backs of poor South African blacks... Yes.. I do know his story... His father as he told the story, made so much money that when he andd his brother were told to put what their father came home with by extra dealing, to stuff it into the safe... there was so much, that one brother would open it quickly, while the other stuffed as fast as they could, while money was coming out of the door.
After learning of he and his brother's escapades as children selling diamonds, his father was aghast, knowing what that world can be like. So yes, Elon grew up with cajones, but it's because he didn't have any concern, no filter.
But he still had to have investment money.. he also had to sit on some investments for a few years, and wait for them to be bought out, then bought again, and then bought again.
Now imagine.. young people coming from nonwealthy backgrounds had the same ability to attend college that could runup a 100k bill? OR free college education, no matter their former grades.
All it takes is a speck of dust colliding into bezos' spacecraft at 70,000 MPH to keep him in space. Crossing my fingers. Cross your fingers folks!
I don't know how long ago that guy was in the service, but I have news for him. 47 years ago at least at Ft Bragg there was a lot of pot smoking going on.
Hoo rah soldier! I went to visit my brother before he deployed in 69. I had to wait for him in officers “ cabins” off base. I cleaned up and washed the laundry that had their “party” drugs wrapped up in the dirty clothes. I was very lucky to make it to my thirteen birthday. Yeah, Bragg Boulevard on Saturday night. That cabin burned down after”fireworks “ landed on the roof. They all deployed soon after and didn’t care
Yeah, sounds like that guy has been brainwashed by propaganda for decades.
It is way way more strict now. We had a guy in my Marine infantry platoon kicked out for popping in a piss test for weed. Corps had a "zero tolerance" policy, Army is strict also
@@whatabouttheearth It may also have something to do with the fact that they have a way to test. I really have my doubt that the military now is stricter than the early 70s. In a time that you could get 10 years for for a joint.
@@surfrider1957
Lol no their not stricter like that but the Corps would kick you out, the Army there were guys trying there best to get kicked out and couldn't 😂 it turned into a crusade for some dudes to get kicked out and the Army refused and kept NJPing them.
Yeah, it probably is the development Magnificent 7 (the randomized drug tests that test for 7 specific drugs). But there certainly aren't loads who smoke weed, if there are it's occasional and less dudes, they're probably worried that loose lips sink ships
But early 70s was draft right? Seems like alot more pist off service members who didn't give a shit, with us noone wanted to loose that post 9-11 GI Bill where you get a housing big housing allowance for going to college after you get out. In San Francisco it was something like $3000 or something a month when a 1 bedroom was still about $1200

I hope these abused workers are ready for a general strike against the people in power. They are treated inhumanely
they arent.. and most can't afford to "gen strike" so i always ask people stop consuming so much bullshit they don't actually need... you know if Amazons quarterly profits take a hit.... then MAAAAAYBE youll see them move and do something... until then.... you are hoping and dreaming for a fantasy to take hold.

Billionaires will never pay their "fair share", whatever that is, because they can pay legislators to approve a tax code that absolves them of taxation. I really related to the politicizing of vaccination. A relative we are deeply fond of moved to AL about ten years ago. At the beginning of the shutdown, he was terrified of the virus, but after the election, he went silent. Recently, he had to come back to the Northeast on business. He gracefully accepted that he could not stay with family because he won't get vaccinated. When we gathered, he just nodded when someone pointed out that we were all protecting him. We love him but mourn the loss of closeness in this divided nation/family. LB is not ranting. He is very sad, and so am I.
I've been terrified of big pharma since the exposure of phildemide and the (warp-speed) anthrax vaccine that killed so many just a decade ago. They never learn
