It should be the 1st commandment
Another commandment should be: Thou shalt not force thy religion down thy neighbour’s throat. For man does not always have good gag reflexes.

Really loved this one a lot. The rant that shot down Christian nationalism felt so to the point. MAGA/GOP love using their religion as a shield for any crap they want to force on everyone.
My Mom died a year and 1/2 ago at the age of 101 and I’m still grieving. I love you Lewis for loving her so much and thank you for being you.

My heart goes out to you. My best friend, my Dad was 90 when I was told to administer the fatal doses in hospice care so he would not suffer. Everyone, who knew him, knew him to be a kind, patient, wise man. I still feel his wisdom with me, carrying me. He should have been a teacher or psychologist. Thou Shalt not be stupid.
My mom died two months ago at the age of 69 and I’m still in shock

My faith is so much a part of my DNA that I don't need someone to put it up in a classroom. Modeling choices is the way to teach. Not smearing it on a wall like someone would fling spaghetti or some animals would throw feces. It's degrading.

Most highschool graduates in Louisiana could have at no time read the ten commandments or instructions given at the Colonel Sanders Summer Camp. They'll teach you about "secret spices." 😉😉 Don't tell your mom about our secrets, and our favorite team activity, It's called the corn hole game. 😁 Instead of bean bags we use summer sausages. Sausages are a lot easier to get through the hole than the bags are. But remember IF YOUR BAG IS HITTING WOOD, YOU MISSED THE HOLE.

I attribute that to whoever-most probably- were the loudest, strangest con artists and deluded performers that managed to get a large enough following of idiots to be memorialized as inspired and wise, and thereby given a chapter in whichever tome the future "believers" claim to adhere to.
I remember adding some uncommitted "sins" to my mandatory childhood confessions to the priest. I thought it would serve as providing some extra "grace" to cover the unreported crimes I may have either forgotten, intentionally omitted, or knew I would continue to commit anyway. It didn't occur to me that I was lying to the priest - maybe a mortal sin itself, since he was Jesus's rep on earth!! But, hey, that was the requirement for getting the round bread body and blood placed on my tongue on Sunday. I was only six or seven years old, but outing myself as a hell-bound sinner by not lining up for the sacrament was unthinkable. Lies were the way to go. It's amazing how many people still obviously think like that all the way into adulthood, lol!!

Very good but please, please remember that this country was founded by religious rebels trying to escape religious orthodoxy. IMO the troubles we now face are the continued politicalization of this conflict. What if we eliminated the religious context and just dealt with the rational and pragmatic? Lewis, I don’t disagree with you about the candidates’ ages. But don’t blame Joe Biden. If there was no Trump, there would be no Biden. He has also had one of the most successful Presidency’s in our lifetime (more yours than mine 😬)
