Aunt Marge fully deserved what she got. You don’t EVER insult a child’s family. Especially when the child has no alive family. That’s nothing more than a cruel heartless low blow.

Because it's when right at the start of Alfonso Cuaron's cinemtography and at the end of the innocent movies. It started getting darker and darker after HP 4

In my opinion, one of the best opening scenes in cinematic history. It’s wonderfully done by the director. The sequence of the frames, use of music, sound editing, it all fits. The Prisoner of Azkaban is the only Harry Potter film where you could see the director’s input, rather than just making a copy of the book.
Yeah, I agree. This film feels like it belongs to Alfonso Cuarón whereas the others feel more like they belong to J.K Rowling. Alfonso really gave this film a lot of personality and I think he used the art of film to really add to the source material with elements that could not have been done in literature.

Aunt Petunia's reaction to all this was precious. She was timid, but entertained and even waived her Sister in Law a nice little "Buh-bye" at the end of the scene 🤣 She loved Lily and Marge deserved what she got.
I hate Aunt Petunia. She treated Harry badly for no reason and always ordered him around

Might just be the most well made film in the series and what a huge leap in tone from the first two movies to really give us that sense of Harry and the kids growing up, along with the story. I don't know if it's my favorite HP movie exactly but it's by far the most well crafted one imo!

Man this movie took the films in the absolutely best direction they could have gone. Cuaron and this movie was a match made in heaven.

Everyone says that Goblet of Fire was when the Potter franchise was getting dark. But in my opinion, the Prisoner of Azkaban was when the movies were getting darker. There were still some light-hearted and funny moments here and there, but still.
I agree. The first two films were specifically geared towards a younger audience, but from the 3rd film onwards the Harry Potter films became a lot more darker i.e. Mature wrt the Storyline, the themes etc.
Yeah, POA was the start of the dark themes, especially how they showed the dementors, it had a lot of horror to it. But come the next film they just went all out, no holding back and I loved that.
in GOF it was a movie w funny and bright scene but the start of the 3rd task is when the films really start getting darker

In my opinion, even though the aunt despise her sister and her nephew, she didn’t say anything about her sister in law bashing her regardless if she was a witch or not. You can even tell she wants to either defend her sister and her nephew or just ignore it 3:53

I love the seen with aunt Marge béa couse it’s shows the petunia misses lily because petunia was laughing with Marge when she was talking about James but when Marge stared talking about Lily she stopped smiling and it shows a beautiful bond between them and also when Marge says to Vernon that if Harry were put on her doorstep she would have sent him to an orphanage and then Vernon stops smiling I love this whole scene

You know I got to honestly say I love all of these movies. I've never read the books cuz I've never had time but one day I'm going to sit down and read them.

i was in the same boat: i had maybe read 1 or 2 until recently when I was on summer break and bought them and read them all in a few days-- one of the best decisions i've had lately; they truly are fabulous and have a lot of intricate details left out of the movies (details difficult to capture in film, mostly)

Fun Fact: If you observe carefully, from the Prisoner of Azkaban (Film) onwards all the Harry Potter cast actually begins to look a lot more older than their book counterparts.
To give you a perspective;
Daniel Radcliffe in the Prisoner of Azkaban (film) is actually what Book-4's Harry Potter is supposed to look like and Daniel Radcliffe in Goblet of Fire (film) is actually what Book-6's Harry Potter is supposed to look like.
yeah since they started making the movies before the books series ended they had to wait for the books to came out so they can continued filming

I wish Alfonso Cuarón directed Half-Blood Prince. That book has more darker and mysterious tone. But movie is really uncreative and dull doesn't gave justice to source material. In other side Prisoner of Azkaban has brilliant horror elements that still terrifies.
