  • I ended up having to replace my OEM starter given that at times it would fail to start the car. This video will show you where the starter is located as well as to how to remove it.

    Awesome man! My starter just went out on my 05. Just waiting for the part. I’m sure I can do this myself now. My alternator in the other hand, those bolts are tight

    What tools did you use for the starter heat shield? The top 10mm bolt is kind of tough to reach.

    Hey quick question I installed my starter but after I drove home I noticed my engine was making a buzzing noise completely turned off do you think my connection is bad making the starter live ?

      Sorry to hear about that.
      I'm just a car enthusiast, not a mechanic. I'd recommend you get it checked out by a pro.

    Interesting, I thought on the USDM VQ35's the starter was on the driver side of the engine block underneath the airbox. Is yours a 5 speed manual?

    • @vq_pwr
      @vq_pwr  Před 4 lety

      No. It's automatic.

    Hey where did you buy your part at the parts store? Dealer or salvage yard. I might get after market since its nissan quality

      I got mine at AutoZone and it said it was a refurbished OEM part but they also have other aftermarket options.

      I can only say that I knew it was time to change mine when all I would hear was a single "click" and the car wouldn't start. Wish I could say more but it's outside my technical expertise. Hope you can fix yours!

      @vq_pwr  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah man, depends on the year and whether it's a stick or automatic it seems.

    Hey man nice vid i got 07 max you can also see the starter from the top if you take off the battery and bottom. Not sure if you can work on it from there though.
    Thanks

    • @vq_pwr
      @vq_pwr  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, I think it would be pretty hard to get it off from the top.

    • @vq_pwr
      @vq_pwr  Před 4 lety +1

      Hmm, I didn't have to cut any wires when I removed mine. What year is your max?

    • @krispeteler5554
      @krispeteler5554 Před rokem +1

      Mine had an extra wire too But I’m hoping I can hook up the new starter and have it work without that wire
