2002~2006 Nissan Altima 2.5L Starter Replacement

  • A couple of weeks ago, I was at Safeway in the parking lot, and this car refused to crank. I thought it was the battery and was looking around under the hood when this fella pulls up alongside and offers a jump. We connected up the batteries, but the car still would not crank.
    This changed the focus to the starter, and the good fella goes back to his truck, returns with a hammer and proceeds to tap on the starter with it. Voila, the car started up. Neat little trick, this starter tapping thing. It can get you out of being stranded and having to call a tow truck.
    Keep in mind that the starter is going bad and must be replaced as soon as possible. I was able to get the tapping to work a couple more times during the few weeks I was awaiting the new starter.
    This video shows the starter replacement process. Thanks for watching!

    That's exactly what my Altima did! Wouldn't crank, and the battery was brand new! Thank you for your help. And for those that have never replaced a starter, this one is easy, most of the time you have to crawl under the car, and usually have to jack it up too because the starter is underneath.

    The bolt under the starter is a pain to get...I had too use my wife little makeup mirror to see where I had to aim to get too it. And the paper in the socket is genius!!! Thank you!! 💯

    Turn on and off multiple times fast and it will turn on. However it's just incase stranded. Tap it with a hammer works good too

    I've try to replace the battery with a new one yet won't start a mechanic told me it was something wrong with the engine but the engine is fine im guessing it's some lose wire that is stuck or unplugged

    dont need to remove battery..but you will need a breaker bar .. the 14mm on bottom and the long 17mm on top hold it in place are very tight..

    Hey love the video. I'm trying to see if my car has the start problem. I placed a new battery in but the car still didn't start up instead it sparked and smoked at the positive terminal of the battery. I tried to start it a second time but it wouldn't even crank. Also, when I jumped start it the starter was clicking.

    • @CactusNaga
      @CactusNaga  Před 5 lety

      Daniel ponce starters are different for different cars. Mounting bolt patterns, number of gear teeth, depth of engagement, body length are just some of the variables that make starters different for different cars. Good luck with your change out!
