    astral I just watched this video because I own a NIss altima 03 3.5 so it interested me. I just love the way you do your Diagnosis. I want to fly into your town meet you take you to lunch for Ribs and just visit with you. You helped me so much way back when I watched those 11 or 14 videos it took you to do that engine swap out in the back yard. I still laugh at how you were able to pull it off. UDAMAN

      Other than a heavy car & boring to drive it's been okay all the years I've had it & luv my airbag recall,took it in & they just unplugged it SMH....

    Most gas tanks have sand and water in the bottom 300 gallons. In Florida, you NEED a fuel filter!!! Stalling 2004 Altima "has no serviceable fuel filter", and the pump sock is supposed to do the filtering. Good luck with that! Mine had a bad camshaft sensor, it started, ran and then, stalled. Harbor Freight Tool had one pressure tester, that screws on to the Shraeder Valve on the fuel rail, so you can see the full fuel line pressure. Takes only a minute!

    2006 Altima 2.5L wouldn't start, replaced fuel pump, still didn't start. Ensured fuel pump was working by removing the fuel line at the pump and turning key to ON for 1-2 sec, and pump spit fuel into rag covering fuel line. Reconnected fuel line and figured must be missing spark. So, ran check engine code, and code said cam position sensor was bad, replaced cam position sensor, and car started right up.

    I have this problem now with my daughters 2004 2.5. Last week got a code 0400 but when it shut off I get error from my OBD2 reader. Taking it to the shop today. On a side note if anyone ever goes thru coils back to back specifically after getting a light rear end tap check the negative cable on the battery. If one of the two leads on the negative (or worst both) are brittle and break off you're will be going thru coils like water. That's a Nissan TSB.

    Hi, Tim I know this is a 2006 Nissan but I was wondering if you could advice me on this issue I'm having with a 2016.
    I'm new to these kind of vehicle, does running self diagnosis cause any harm to the 2016 Altima (33329 Milage) by any chance? Because right now my car functions work from the inside but, it won't start(Makes the same crank noise), I can't depress the brake & the wheel feels stiff. I've bought a need battery & tried pressing the shift lock button to see if that could be it but not. I'm thinking it could need a new key fob due to be about 3 years old too I just hope it won't be the CVT hopefully it's like a sensor (crank), starter or break switch.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi , really hope you can answer my question. It’s 2019 and these Nissan Altimas are still having these problems . My Nissan Altima is having this EXACT same problem. I changed the fuel pump and the car now won’t start. Were you able to fix the customers problem? And what did you end up doing at the end to fix the problem.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  Před 4 lety +1

      Really sorry, but the customer did not have us do the work. Was the car starting before you changed the fuel pump?

  • @yani0511
    @yani0511 Před 6 lety +16

    That's a QR engine. First thing you do when it doesn't start is to go buy 2 crank and cam angle sensors. They go after 90.000 km. Is that simple. And the fuel pump? You can hear that self priming when you turn ignition on. The. Turn back off and listen for the relay in the dash switching off, then turn ignition to on again and listen carefully for the priming short humming coming from under the rear seats. But the cam and crank angle sensors, yes both as they share lifespan, are the culprit in 95% of the cases.

    • @wind5250
      @wind5250 Před 5 lety +1

      @@enriquemerino8244 You need fuel , air , compression and spark . check the fuel by turning the key on then partially releasing the quick connect to the fuel line under the hood , if you have fuel coming out then your pump is working. Check the air filter and box for obstructions. Do a compression test to make sure your engine can run in the first place . 170 to 180 psi is typical for a newer un-worn engine 155 or so is ok but anything under 135 or a difference in cylinders of more than 15% is trouble . If you have a spark tester test each coil to see if you have a spark . if you have spark fuel and compression may god , Allah , Vishnu or whoever have mercy on your soul because you will need to do a deep dive to fix it . If you have no spark on any of the of the coils the cam / crank sensor probably is the problem . I have had about 4 cases where i buy a new sensor and the new sensor just flat out wont work in the car !! I had to go somewhere else and buy a different brand to get it to work . If at least one works either use a test light to test the ignition signal pulse of each coil or try swapping a non working coil to a working plug to test it because the coil packs in these cars are known to corrode under the plastic tube at and between the spring preventing spark . The valve cover is also know to leak around the tube seals allowing oil into the tubes grounding the spark plugs preventing them from firing and or fouling the connections causing the same issue .
      I'm pretty sure one of those will fix your problem unless it's electrical in nature , if so you owe the kool - aid man lunch money and you best believe he always collects Oh-Yeah !!!

Bad coils and I replaced them and new plugs, Platinum premium with the tiny spark points fixed and running. History this year has a unexplained phenomena according to internet and a statement by Nissan as so, that has trouble starting. Has run great till yesterday with no problems starting as of yesterday on errands she would not start. This morning I checked each coil and plug got great spark on each one, starter is fine, battery is new, getting fuel as tried pumping pedal to try to start it you can smell the fuel. I have a 2005 Nissan Altima. It has the 3.5 engine in it. I was driving it down the road then just lost complete power and the car died. I went to crank it back up but nothing. I finally got it to crank back up but it is running really rough and won’t go above 500 rpms if I give it gas it just dies. I have no codes, what could this be?

    First of all
    Thanks astro, it was very helpful for folks like us to do DIY repairs.
    I have a question for you.
    It is irrelevant to this post but the car and model is same.
    I live in pretty hot and harsh weather here temperature goes to 48 to 53 C° and during that time the Car AC trips and stops cooling, while the temperature guage is at its optimum position.
    Some time (quite rare) in hot nights it trips else it is cold.
    Few more thing that might help you to diagnose tbe problem is that I v
    Bought it used and the previous owner has remover the Aircon Filter from the dash.
    I have searched abour it but didn't have come to any solution, I think its problem with Evaporator or with the gas.
    Please help me

      Actually I havent tried looking it when the AC stops working that the Compressor Clutch is enguaged or not
      But I have noticed something strange with it.
      When this happens I usually turn it off after sometime when I turn it on the AC starts working for few minutes and then again it starts blowing hot air.
      By this attitude of AC I think that it stop turning (trips).

    That code could mean a number of things, cam or co2 sensor ? If you want to see if it’s the catalytic converter just take it off, it’s that’s the issue the car will crank. If it doesn’t it’s not the converter, converter only good for emissions. It’s a fuel issue most likely, if not fuel pump it’s two sensors left to try.

    My 2005 Nissan also had the p0420 code as well. The front Converter I had to replace. Managed to get an aftermarket one online for $400 which I brought back my old one and got $75 back so really paid $325 for it. I paid about $290 for the work at a shop which was half of what I was quoted for. Now I am having the fuel pump problem, which I am replacing today. Surprising how expensive a fuel pump can be! But I guess it’s because the fuel pump and sending unit is all one.

    I have an exact year and model car And have similar problem problem, car was running good until one day i tryed starting it and it wont start. Took notice it had some oil in cylinder 1 and 4 so i just went ahead and changed out all 4 spark plugs and coils also changed the valve cover and it started up and ran good for about a day and it went back to having trouble starting again. It would crank but wont start, i will have to keep on trying to crank it and crank it and crank it until it finally starts up. By any chance would you know what could be the problem? Thank you!! 🤙🏽

      ⭐ Astral Auto Repairs well at at first it had a code showing misfire on cylinder 4 and when I inspected the spark plugs it had oil all inside the 2 of the cylinders so I figured I changed all 4 spark plugs and coils and valve cover

      @KanakaUso96792 Před 6 lety

      ⭐ Astral Auto Repairs it also seems like when the car sits for about a day it wont start but it cranks strong as if she wants to start. And it runs rough for about 2-3 seconds and then runs okay. I brought this second hand car for my sons graduation gift and owned it for about 2-3 months.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos

    • @KanakaUso96792
      @KanakaUso96792 Před 6 lety

      ⭐ Astral Auto Repairs no smoke at. So basically I just did a lil bit of tune up by changing plugs, coils and valve cover. But before all of that ihave noticed that when they car was started and moving it would hesitate/spudder and I would have to give it a lil gas when im moving and it would be okay, so when i did that tune up it ran good for about a day and then back to the same problem again.
