The whole video in these lines:
As you know that SATA is both forward and backward compatible. But it's important to check the SATA port version in your computer's motherboard. Because if you are going to buy a new SATA SSD to replace your current hard drive, you will get only SATA 3 SSD in the market and if your computer's motherboard has SATA 1 port, then the speed of the SATA 3 SSD will bottlenecked to the speed of SATA 1 port and the SSD will niot bring any bigger change in speed than the hard drive you currently have.
If you have a desktop then there has no any problem to check the SATA version. Just open the cabinet and check the area near to the SATA port of your motherboard where your hard drive is already connected by a SATA cable. But the style of writing SATA version and port numbers are different in different motherboards. So in the later some of the motherboards are taken as examples to get an idea on how to understand what the SATA version and port numbers the motherboard have. But now let's see some ways to find SATA versions if you have laptop or don't want to open cabinet.
    No.1:
You can use a third party software like hwinfo.
    No.2:
You can check in the user manual that you received at the time of purchasing the PC or the motherboard
    No.3:
You can get the SATA port version by searching on the internet. For this you need to enter the brand and the model number of your laptop or motherboard.
I type it and search it. We can check in the e-commerce websites like Amazon, flipkart.
If you don't find the SATA version details in these e-commerce websites then you can check in the official websites of the company of which motherboard and or laptop you are using. The official website contains all the necessary information about their product or services. We can download the user manual from these websites also which contains the complete map of motherboard.
Same process you can follow if you have a laptop. Now let's take a look at some motherboards and understand what SATA versions they have and which port numbers are assigned to their respective SATA ports. For this, I take 5 motherboards. Let's see..
1st motherboard is Gigabyte GA H61M-S. It has SATA 2 Ports which means it's maximum bandwidth is 3 gigabits per second/300 MBps. The 203 and 1 are the port numbers of 4 ports. The 1st port is always assigned as zero.
2nd motherboard is ASUS H61M-CS. Here SATA 3G means, this SATA port's bandwidth is 3 gigabits per second. Here 3G doesn't mean 3rd generation and 3 and 1 which are seperated by underscores are the port numbers.
3rd motherboard is Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L and it has 2nd version of SATA ports. Here the version is written in Roman and the port numbers are near to their ports.
4th motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8I945GZME. It's SATA ports are little stylish. Here also the version is written in Roman. It has 2nd version of SATA ports.
The 5th motherboard doesn't have any brand name or model number. I don't know which motherboard it is. I found it in the backside of my office. It is too old and only two SATA ports are there along with 2 PATA ports ad nothing is mentioned about these two SATA ports meaning that the motherboard has only 1st version of SATA ports.

Sata 1 is slow and HDD makes it much slower. So if it possible then you upgrade the whole system at least motherboard, processor and SSD to get better results.

Hello, in a situation where SATA ports have different color code e.g white, blue. orange and so on, WHAT DOES IT MEAN, O THEY HAVE DIFFRENT SPEEDS. or what is the essence of color coding

    • @howbnj
      @howbnj  Před 8 dny

No, colour doesn't matter. The speed depends on the SATA version that is written near to the SATA ports.

ESATA is the external SATA allowing us to connect external drives. The next video is on ESATA. You can watch it while uploaded

We can use any port for OS hard drive because the BIOS will find out where the OS is. But it's recommended to use 0 or 1 port for OS hard drive and another hard drive can be connected in the next port number
