Habesha means Eritrean and Ethiopian not. Only Ethiopian
Hani Meb you mean northern Ethiopia because not even the majority or Ethiopians are habesha so.
Salem Feyesso May i Ask Where u live ? Cuz Everyone know What habesha is , specially If u live outside of Ethiopia / Eritrea
Hani Meb I live in the United States but I am 🇪🇹 and am not habesha. Habesha means those who descent from the Abyssinian kingdom or empire. You see you said Ethiopia as a whole and Ethiopia is diverse so not all Ethiopians are habesha . So please remember that. So I advise you to say northern Ethiopia and Eritrea 🇪🇷.
I’m Egyptian. I was in Ethiopia weeks ago. It’s one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever been. The people are the beat part of the country; loving and amazing. Yes, I tried “Ketfu” raw meat, Enjira bread and Qutch’u. Adding to what you mentioned, Amena, honey. Is one of the most delicious I’ve ever tasted. God bless Ethiopia.
Mohamed Zaher thank you brother God bless you
Omar Hussien Bro, the most stupid act ever a country can take is to assault a neighbouring country. This goes both ways, by the way. This stupid conflict will sooner or later end. It’s just stupidness driven by politicians to be in power. We both nations have to try to know each other and you’ll be so much surprised how much the politicians put us in illusions to hate each other for their own benefits.
Ramadan Kareem 😊
But it is our Dam!!!
Tank you mohamed zaher
Mohamed Zaher Egypt is in the North, Ethiopia is very much East. You’re not neighboring countries.
I AM FROM SOUTH SUDAN. ETHIOPIA IS THE ICON OF AFRICA. I LOVE ETHIOIPIA!!!!!!
Thank you and we love the people of Sudan 🇸🇩 as well.
I grew up in éthiopia ,I love this country so much love from Rwanda 🇷🇼
me too somali who lived there love Ethiopia and miss it
thats why Nelson Mandela once said " Ethiopia always has a special place in my imagination and the prospect of visiting Ethiopia attracted me more strongly than to London, Paris and America combined, I felt I would be visiting my own genesis, unearthing the roots of what made me an African."💚💛❤💚💛❤💚💛❤ Much love from Ethiopia!

wow I never knew this 😳
Kind of refreshing. I am a Senegalese chap who speak fluently amharic and had lived in Ethiopia for 9 good years (1980-89). What a beautiful country and people. Ethiopia tikdem! Egziaber istilign!
I came back to visit in 1999 and that's not the end I am planning another trip in the course of 2018.
OMG! I am surprised by your Amharic! Thank you for sharing your story Jimi Free. You are always welcome my friend!
My bf is Senegalese, Senegal has beautiful people. It's a beautiful country, we have the flag hanging in our living room, a big huge Senegal flag. I surprised him with it. He LOVES it.
I love how you used the Dergue regime's "Ethiopia first !" slogan in Amharic.
lol im guessing you were around when Derg was in Power
In the American South, women from Ethiopia are sought out for their skill in beautiful and unique hair braiding. I took my daughter to their hair shop and left her. When I returned I was surprised to see 3 women braiding her hair at the same time. One was braiding the top, one was braiding the middle and one was braiding the back. The braids were so tiny and neat, and curved and shaped, like art. They were quiet and humble with peaceful personalities.
Not surprised to hear of something like this from the ethiopians!!! I can't wait to get an Ethiopian haircut!!!
In my world travels I have found most Ethiopians to be the kindest, most beautiful people I have ever met. They have a gentleness of character that is unique from most other peoples and cultures. I can see how they would be ancestors of Solomon and the the Queen of Sheba. I truly believe they are God's chosen people.

I love Ethiopia 🇪🇹. I fell in love with the place on my first visit. Beautiful, smart and friendly people, and rich in history. This video just made me want to visit again. Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thomas Mofokeng, we Ethiopians are warm and welcoming people. Hopefully you will inform your xenophobic south African people to stop killing Ethiopians just because they do business there. I lived in joburg for a year. Based on what I witnessed, I would hate to see any south African in Ethiopia.., even to visit for a day..... SMH😥😥
I grew up in ethiopia 🇪🇹 I had most beautiful memories love from Rwanda
you said it for me those memories are painful sometimes when you cant just go and visit the country somali who lived there

Ethiopians are intelligent, mellow, good natured people; nice mountains too, is that where the coffee is grown?
Ethiopia is the largest coffee exporter in africa and most of it from southern region
Hello Amina! Thanks for the Welcome to Ethiopia Video! I'm just wondering, how hot does it get where you are at in Ethiopia? It's 20°C here, the pumpkins and butter cup squash are getting ripe in the garden, do you grow squash and gourds there? I have some teff in the pantry, what's the best authentic Ethiopian way of preparing teff?

Ethiopia is the epitome of beauty. The people with the most beautiful smile because to me they all seem to smile from deep within their souls. You'll know what I mean when you meet an Ethiopian, they smile with their eyes so happy!!! A genuine smile indeed. For me, it is a country with a very rich cultural tradition. And best of all, I love their food 😊😋😋😋 so rich with spices. I cook with my own spices that I mix myself & they do the same as well! I'm so happy to know that. ☺️😊😍If we ever have a chance to go to Eastern Africa, Ethiopia is going to be my first choice surely.

@David. Very nice. Ethiopia has a lot of thing to show. However, I can persuade you here...Sudan should be on the top list...it’s a country endowed with a lot of history. The land of Nubian Kush.

Many of us born in America feel there is something missing in us because we know little to nothing of African culture, history, and even current affairs. Thank you to everyone bridging that gap. Much Love from Ameruca😍
I tell you, you are citizens of Africa, I mean the good thing about black people is that we know the origins of our ancestors who are Africans. I advise you to watch a British documentary on the 'History of Africa' with Zeinab Badawi. I am Ethiopian and I can attest that the two episodes related to Ethiopia are presented eloquently! You can also visit African countries. They will make you feel at home.
Beautiful land, Ethiopians are beautifully tall people. (love from Pakistan)
Rabbani Khan 😂 Ethiopians are not tall they are short. The Somalis in Ethiopia & the Horn of Africa are tall.
Beautifully tall ?!?!?!
Tell that to my flipping 156 cm stature
Ethopians aren't tall people you get that wrong
Rabbani khan
You ruined your statement by attempting to throw all Somalis under the bus as if they all joined together to write that one comment. You now sound even more ignorant and biased than the original poster. The comment was stupid and offensive.
Thanks dear
My uncle married a woman from Ethiopia, he left America and moved to Ethiopia. he's very happy over there, I plan on visiting him when I finish school. I can't wait to see Ethiopia it will be a dream come true.

Come visit al nejashi, the place where the prophet's(companions) and daughter(ruqiya),who went to Ethiopia as refugees lived. Tnx from Ethiopia.
Also the unique rare thing I love about ethiopians(along with Somali/Erithean) that they have symmetrical faces, with dramatic eyes and great tan skin tones of various degrees, just like from Hollywood models and disney movies. Also with damm good thick curly hair.
I have seen several Ethiopians with bright eyes like hazel, or blue which create a intense dramatic feature. Surely, Ethiopians people are one of the most beautiful races on earth! Love from India!
We don't need your love...you all hate Africans....and by the way Ethiopians are black people too
No, Except a minority, we love Africans. Personaly I don't believe in Rascism. I know Ehiopians are black, adore the way they are. Please don't streotype or for good sake please don't paint me among those bunch of haters. I DO NOT represent those RACEIST people.
And for your general information to know that India has a minority indigenous african and black skin non-african Dravidian communties too.
@@girdharsingh4287 those dark skin Indians only say they are black when it's convenient but never associate with Africans blacks, so I don't know where you get your information that they are Africans
Please read my word carefully. There are few Minority dark skin(black) communities
1. Idegenious Africans of Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh and Maharastra i.e the sibi or sidi tribe
2. The Dravidian community from nilgiri hills of Tamil nadu and its coastal areas. They are Dravidian having distinct facial features does not match with Africans.
Please don't get confuse

Hi Amena- I've always found Ethiopia fascinating too. I got to go there in 2002, and I had a wonderful time. I went to Axum, Lalibela, Bahar Dar, Gondor, and Addis. I was living in Thailand at the time, and my Thai friends were very intrigued to hear that it was never colonized, since Thailand was the only country in South East Asia that was never colonized. I'm lucky I live in San Diego, where we have a lot of Ethiopian people (and restaurants).
Sweet!!! Shukren. You Nailed it. And you pronounced the names perfectly! Love your 👗
Im from the south western state in India called Kerala. Ive taken an ancestry test and turns out, I have around 5% Ethiopian blood. We used to be at the hub of sea trade routes, especially spices, timbre and textiles, and did trade with Ethiopia as well, namely Aksum empire. This trade link probably brought Ethiopian traders to Kerala and settle here.
Anyways, I'd love to visit Ethiopia one day, the land where some of my forgotten ancestors come from🥰🙏

1.Ethiopia => it was the name given for darker color people in Egypt, Sudan , Yemen and northern Ethiopia.
2.Abissinia => the former Name for Ethiopia
3. Habesha => an Arabic word for Northern Ethiopia (Amhara) , Tigria, and Eritrea. Now , habesha works for all Ethiopians because of intermarriage.
4. Geez => The former Ethiopian language
5. Amharic => Amharic language became the official language of Ethiopia in the 10th century. Amharic evolved from Geez, Tigria, Arabic, Hebrew, etc..
6. Ethiopian number System :
1••• ፩ ••• አንድ
2•••• ፪•••• ሁለት
3•••• ፫••• ሶስት
4••••• ፬•••• አራት
5•••• ፭ ••••••አምስት
6••••• ፮•••• ስድስት
7••••• ፯•••• ሰባት
8•••• ፰ •••••ስምንት
binalfew Amharic did not evolve from Geez, Arabic or Tigregn. Amharic is more similar to Arggoba, Hadere and Guragegn than Tigregn. Amharic use to actually be written in Sabean Alphabet before it adapted Geez alphabet.
Abyssinia is actually the name of Amhara people. Amhara means free people in Geez, Abyssinia is driven from an old Turkish/ Arabic word which means free or independent people.
Also the name Ethiopia did not come from the Greek word that means "sun burned people" instead it came from the Aetopis Dynasty, the dynasty that ruled the region after the fall of the Cushite Dynasty. The Greek came to used the term Aetopis to refer to sun tan people because of this.
+selam mesfin thank you mar
selam mesfin Ethiopia male "burned-face" malet new allium. It is a name for tseyim people. Habesha includes both Amhara Tigria. The Arabs used to call the whole northern Ethiopia "Habesha".
binalfew The Arabs used the name Habesha not only for Amharas and Tigrays but for all Ethiopians. The Gurages, the Oromos, the Haderies, the Arggobas, the Agews, the sidamos, the Hadiyas etc all are Habesha. But in Ethiopia, we never used that word. It is mainly used by Arabs and diasporas aboard.

I'm glad you shared this.Although I've already known most of this information (through interacting with Ethiopians and the library), you enlighten others...great accomplishment.
I love Sudan cuz I grew up there and they're the most sweet people ever.
