Honoring Our Home’s History. The Mindset Behind Our Home Renovation

- Your home posses a history that is experienced in its original design and the material used. After a few months in the house, we realize we don't want to throw that all out and gut renovate.
In this episode I share my thought process around how we went from total cut reno (completely losing the history of our little brick house in the country) to now wanting to contribute to the house (keeping the original character).
I also share my motivation behind studying interior design, adding a front porch to the house (it’s a must) and give you a home office update. All this so we will have a clear vision of renovations and I will be able to communicate our ideas with them. We have big ideas, hopes and dreams for this house. While I’m not an architect I still have a vision that will honor this old house and bring her back to life.
I really hope you get value from this video. Taking on a home renovation or even just redecorating is a HUGE task to go at alone with DIY. My hope with this channel is to share my real life practical interior design education and personal experiences on the journey of an interior design education, the real life experiences we encounter as we renovate our country home, and the inspiration behind it.

Hey I'm Christina DiStefano! I am sort of a jack-of-all-trades: artist, sales director for a top NYC real estate development company, certified life coach, yoga instructor, Reiki practitioner, artist (I'm a painter), business woman--and now I'm taking on Interior Design via a certification (I'm starting an Interior Design firm in 2024 lovingly called Casa Serenità Interiors. Oh and did I mention I'm leading the renovation of our country home (inside and out)?!
I believe that home is a sacred place that we nurture and in return it nurtures us. That being said, my design process is focused on creating a sanctuary, a place of serenity that truly feels like home.

Grab a hold of the 1942 children's book, The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton. As a NY'er you will appreciate it, as I do. Glad to have found your channel. I'm just starting to redo our 1925 Dutch Colonial in NY after years of living in it. Almost empty nesters and it's time to give everything an updated feel yet, still honor the history of the house.
