Architect Designs a Breathtaking Home Connected to Nature (House Tour)

- When an architect designs a breathtaking home connected to nature, the results can be mesmerising. Six Square House by Young Projects is one such example, and this house tour, which takes viewers inside and documents how an architect designs a breathtaking home, captures the contemporary home and surrounding landscape in all its glory.
Nestled deep into the large property, this house is defined by half a dozen cubes, which tesselate from a centre point, resulting in a dynamic piece of architecture set amid a lush garden. As architect Bryan Young says, “the gabled modules are arranged to align roof ridges and create continuity from one module to the next.” The contemporary form is connected to nature in a myriad of ways - the cubic volumes feature openings, which act as conduits to the garden; apertures from within frame the landscape; and the internal courtyard captured in the house tour features a garden bed beneath a timber pavilion. It is holistic and intentional - the type of effect achieved when an architect designs a breathtaking home.
The house tour takes viewers inside where the interiors are bright and connected to nature. The living area unfurls to the east and the kitchen sits to the west along the home’s central spine. Up above, the lines of the hybrid roofscape can be traced across the ceiling. Lofty and bright, the sense of openness is unexpected in comparison to the strict, geometric exterior. Bryan speaks to this, saying, “if each of the six volumes can be read as autonomous elements from the outside, from the inside, you begin to realise that in fact they’re conjoined in a very interesting way.”
The pared-back materiality enhances the home’s tranquil feeling. In the kitchen, there is light timber cabinetry and natural stone benchtops, and the furniture and artwork add a characterful layer. Architect Noah Marciniak comments on the interior design, saying the restrained material palette is fitting for a summer house in the Hamptons. Above all, it illustrates how an architect designs a breathtaking home.
There is a lot to digest at Six Square House - from its dense, architectural detail and expertly placed apertures to the ever-changing roster of art and design - yet it is inherently connected to nature, as seen in the house tour. As a meticulously designed and delivered residence, it exemplifies how an architect designs a breathtaking home through its many considered outcomes.

I absolutely hate the pretentiousness of architecture- "there's an open lawn condition". There's a yard. That said, this guy rocked it. It's a really amazing design.
I've worked in architecture and construction, and the wood roof, which I'm assuming there's some underlying mechanism to shed the water, probably a disguised built in gutter, is really very cool.
I laughed out loud when he said “open lawn situation” right after I read your comment. It’s wordy gobbledeegook, but yah, I’d live there!
At least he didn’t use words such as “juxtaposition’ and “amalgamation” lol😂
@@coliver08too true, “next to” and “blend” are so easy on the ears. I’m a technical writer for my living and the best rule is, as le Corbusier, the famous architect, says “less is more.”
It was Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who said “Less is more”.
Came here for this comment. Dude, did you take a class in architecture school to teach you how to talk like that?!?
I'm in love with the landscaping. Those hydrangeas are otherworldly! Somehow it's unexpected but perfect for the house and the setting. I love the minimalism of the house and how they've struck a perfect balance with the curved furnishings, proportions, and warm neutrals. A dreamy project.
This video has finally delivered my request, more coverage of the house rather than just videos of homeowner or architect yapping all video. Thanks editor.
I wholeheartedly agree! Architectural videos should be done as "voiceovers," showing the ARCHITECTURE, not the narrator, except occasionally for scale. Why do people who film buildings not know this? We want to see the building, especially the interior space, not your face!
The landscaping is magnificent and quite fitting for the setting.
Slower transitions like this are far better to take time to appreciate the house 👍
To be able to live in a place like this is truly my dream. It doesn't need to be big or fancy in any way, but rather, a minimalist design like this, and having the connection with nature is very important for me. One day.
The architect has the right to describe his beautiful, intentional and purposeful design of such an exquisite project. Bravo!
i like and love modern home and nature thank you for videos
I feel like every modern day residential architect dreams of having a house like this in their portfolio. The house-shape silhouette clad in thin wood planks is a very elegant typology, and Bryan pulled it off perfectly. Especially the unique touch of gently bending the roof planes - the affect on the interior space adds a welcomed playfulness against the relentless orthogonality. Also, a shout out to the GC Taconic Builders.
Beautiful, sensual and engaging architecture and landscape
So envious, but at the same time happy for the owner. This is wealth that's thoughtful and not showy. Subdued & sophisticated, without being pretentious. I hope the client realizes just how lucky they are to live with such privilege in this thing called life.
It's probably one of the best video I've seen from The Local Project. Congratulations on this beautiful project!
Agreed!
The first time i discovered this Architect was through a project that he did in the Dominican Republic this house was so crazy the roof and the landscaping everything was wow. So glad to see another from him.
one of the best houses I have ever seen!!!!! Love it. Amazing!
Stunning ✨…the simple zen design and materials. The garden especially the hedge of voluptuous cream flowers.
Less is more. It’s what architect removes rather than adds 👌
What a deserving individual to be showcased!
I liked how they didn't build some 15,000 feet monstrosity on that very expensive real estate in the Hamptons. It's a fairly small house for that plot of land and while utterly modern, it has pitched roof and wood cladding that is reminiscent of old barns in the countryside. Yet, inside, you have these large volumes (love the one near the kitchen) and windows that frame lovely landscaping perfectly. The house feels light and airy and, yes, definitely, tranquil.
Great work Mr. Young. This house is fire
Mr. Young, I have never been a fan of modern design but the Six Square house is my first "converter" as I am so impressed. You are to be commended for your work of art. Thank you for not just involving nature but truly engaging in her presence.
What an exquisite House......
Absolutely breathtaking! This ingenious design should stand as an exemplar for 21st-century architectural innovation.
A masterpiece. Bravo!
Wonderful project, with a really beautiful garden. 😍Grade 10... 👋👋
Wow. The most beautiful house I’ve ever seen!
The landscape is smooth and detail in every point of its creation.
So thoughtful and considered. Masterful.
Stunning project and landscaping
Absolutely STUNNING!
those hydrangeas make the house and surroundings look like those futuristic movies we see time and time again- the gardens and landscaping always have these types of flowers lining or bunched up at places in a very vast clean serene place. you are a genius at designing this house.
I would absolutely LOVE to live in a place like this! So beautiful and thoughtful to quality of life! The architect did a great job 👏🏼
the garden looks so surreal
That's a beautiful home indeed.
Wow! I could not get enough of this unique home and it’s beautiful landscaping. The lush courtyard and gardens melds perfectly with the angles of the home. 😍
Interesting....The landscaping is wonderful. The interior natural light and windows is intriguing. Beautiful design.
I love this design with all the different vantage points.
First design I would live in very happily.
At least there is some shape variations and colors, so different from the usual videos. Thank you!
Love love love this space
Es un proyecto interesante y una buena realización de las ideas y necesidades del cliente. Gracias por ompartir.
A Masterpiece! Well done!!!
Truly breathtaking, one of a kind and fascinating project. 👏🏼🥰
It really is!
Im here watching this masterpiece for the third time ♥️🤩 gonna watch this video everyday
Until it’s mine 😍
I can feel myself in these spaces. Thank you for sharing this home and its elements.
Hydrangeas for miles ! Great spaces in & out
Stunning architecture design 👏🏼, very comforting materials, interior design and color palette.
Absolutely stunning. The lines, the foliage, the colors, the interior and the "feel" if that makes sense. Love!!!
really beautiful
This is the best house i have ever seen! Insane job of details
This is stunning! It looks like a movie set!
Because it looks unlived in, it’s just a summer home
I’ll never be able to afford a home so it’s nice to be able to daydream about having one as nice as whoever’s second home this is
This comment is very relatable
It’s absolutely beautiful. Amazing on every level. ❤
Its has an amazing architectural substance. Great indeed.
Absolutely beautiful, I would love to live in a house like this one. Breathtaking.
This is probably the 1st video I've watched on this channel that I deeply did not enjoy or take anything away from the home. The Thumbnail was the best part of the video.
This gorgeous nest is my manifestation
I fell completely on love with this home ♥️ Feels super homie cozie delicious
Glad you like it!
WOW beautiful home love love
Stunning..Just music would be nice
Love it! Beautiful!
I love everything about this house
Beautiful Design, including interiors and furniture. The landscaping is also beautiful.
Black Mirror feelings here. Everything looks too much perfect!
Wow. What unlimited money can buy!
Ooh! I'm so excited to see a whole video about this gorgeous house! I saw a short feature on it in a German magazine once but I really, really wanted more!
Absolutely mesmerising and tranquil. The double curved roof line reminds me of the Design Museum roof in London - originally the Commonwealth Institute. Love the garden too: grasses, native flowers, showy pom-pom hydrangea and ohh that fern garden - I'm so stealing that idea :)!
this is my dream house
Beautiful and Tranquil. 😂❤
Wonderful!!!!!!!
wow!
Beautifully designed !!!
Damn its so beautiful. I love the light from above in 2:55 the kitchen there feels so soft.
спасибо, очень красиво
My jaw is still dropped ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ours too!
A beautiful house. "Affordable" to 1% of the world's population.
Love this video😍
So glad!
Incredible architecture planning and original layout, specially in comparison to the typical victorian houses renos/additions we see here or transformed weatherboards .. Cool!
We agree!
I'd like to know more about the design of the roof, and how it's weather-proofed and made to stand up to the elements.
Outstanding!
Коли немає спільного з початковим плануванням - це клас!
Я теж так роблю😂😂
Lindo projeto
So sculptural ❤
WOW 😍
My garden also has an 'open lawn condition' 😂
this is my dream house!
Brilliant!
Masterpiece
This building is probably one of the most beautiful ever!
I'm wondering if there's a more detailed version/video of it. If so, it'd be great
I would totally do a spoof render video with the whole project, and green screen inserts of myself walking around the render
So nature
This is incredible. Well done!
lovely..
Wow!
Omg this is such a cute & cozy little cottage for the summer. It’s perfect for me because these days August is the only month I can get away from the city 🥺 it’s not exactly fair when everyone else goes from Memorial Day until school starts back up & I only get 4 weeks 😞 Father’s summer home is off Dune road on Mecox Bay so I’ll def have to keep an eye out for it next year!
Love love love this ✨🤍✨
Genius
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🔥🔥🔥
Gorgeous!
Too bad it’s in the hamptons.
Very curious build. I love the contrast between the two exterior wood species. I would be very interested in the rain water mitigation. The home is certainly a piece of art, in and of itself.
I was thinking about rain the whole time myself lol. Beautiful house though
I’m pretty sure they used “internal gutters” to manage rain.
Look up "Concealed gutter detail" on Google.
pretty sure its a rain screen cladding system so the enclosure layers and cavity behind the timber cladding accommodates the airflow and facilitates the drainage of water that penetrates the outer cladding.
@@Leviticus01 Could be. Definitely a number of ways to get the seamless transition from roof to wall. Finding a contractor willing/good enough to pull it off is the real trick.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssh 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is that perfect it looks like some utopian clip you would see in a movie. Kudo's for the great effort and thinking about the outdoor space
nice job but - how does that type of architecture and technology stand up to tornado f4?
