    ABOUT ME:
    Hey I'm Christina DiStefano! I am sort of a jack-of-all-trades: artist, sales director for a top NYC real estate development company, certified life coach, yoga instructor, Reiki practitioner, artist (I'm a painter), businesswoman--and now I'm taking on Interior Design via a certification (I'm starting an Interior Design firm in 2024 lovingly called Casa Serenità Interiors). Oh and did I mention I'm leading the renovation of our country home (inside and out)?!
    I believe that home is a sacred place that we nurture, and in return, it nurtures us. That being said, my design process is focused on creating a sanctuary, a place of serenity that truly feels like home.

      Hello luv!! They’re so inspiring, right?! And it’s not like photos of someone’s perfectly styled living room or patio. There’s a real human living in nature kind of energy to these spaces.

      Sophia that's a beautiful reminder of your dad. I love that and they're so pretty. I get so much pleasure watching them gently blow in the wind. My husband, Jerry planted some on the property but we have a lot that grows naturally by the pond. He loves them too!

    Wow, love the books! Especially the first one. Didn't know something like that existed! And... for many years now, I dream of a pool like you showed us. But I have a very small balcony, of only a few square meter. Nevertheless, the lavender and rosemary are there in the summer! And there is nothing wrong with dreaming, it helps me finding possibilities that seem impossible. Like a small figtree in that one corner. Yes, less place to sit, but my balcony still fits just two places to sit, for me and my boyfriend, and that is enough. With mediterranean vibes...

      Yes Grady my luv!! You’ve got it. The dreaming puts you in the energy of those spaces, those beautiful gardens, and inspiring homes-then you naturally begin to see opportunities in your own home. Not a literal translation but one that is uniquely yours ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love that you’re on to this 🥰 Your message this morning made me so happy to read!

    Wonderful book recommendations :). We would like our ground floor gallery to be able to host artist expositions. We are transforming it for ourselves as a dual purpose green house and aerial studio...but we would also like to have it used occasionally as an art gallery. Apparently a few decades ago, it was used as a gallery and music venue- so it would be wonderful to re-ignite this element of our house. We are lost in the countryside, but in the centre of an ancient and very artistic village- so this is the reason it could work so well.

    I love your previous recommendation of "The Poetry of Spaces". Two of my personal favorites are " The Life Eclectic" by Alexander Breeze, and "The Maverick Soul" by Miv Watts and Hugh Stewart. Not only do these beautiful books inspire us, but I think we are reminded in some way of who we are. And as they say, that changes the game!❤❤❤

    Those are such dreamy inspirational books. Wow. I take a lot of inspiration from artists’ studios too - either photos or paintings of them. E.g. Ken Howard included his studio in his compositions when painting people, or just used his studio as a standalone subject. Serge Ivanoff’s studio was so lovely it was captured in a painting by one of his artist friends. I also have a black and white photo on my wall of Picasso and his wife with their backs turned, fussing over the placement of a piece of art up on a wall - that’s so like me and my constant in-house art curation! Also, Simon and I got married in our artist friend’s big splendid garden filled with her large sculptures, set among the rolling green hills of the Byron Bay hinterland. Her home doubles as an art gallery downstairs. Stunning yet completely unpretentious, just like our friend. It is a truly inspirational place and will forever be a part of us. We revisited her property last month for our 9th anniversary. She recently put in a large pond that doubles as a pool that she swims in. It looks like a natural feature that has always been there, complete with huge rocks and moss and a subtle little waterfall. That artist's perspective! It's genius. I wish I could show you the footage. It took our breath away. J x PS I love that a book is brewing within you too ;-)

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi Joanna 🤗 First of all your wedding-wow it sounds so unique and beautiful. What a wonderful place to revisit for your anniversary! Happy 9th 🥂
      The artist’s studio can be a truly magical place. I’ve shared spaces with some people that were completely unfazed by their environment but for me, I must have inspiration all around. This is why our house will always be a little bit home and a little bit studio. By the way to pool pond sounds beautiful!
      Yes this time I want to actually publish it-when it’s done of course there’s so much more to do-like write it! But also I want our home to be a little further along because photos of it are important. Pretty pics, poems and I’m not sure what else but it will come to me 🤍

    Just finished watching your last CZcams video and was so glad to see you reference your inspiration as something other than the usual home décor books. I would love to share some of my inspiration with you, but I bet you are inundated with replies and comments. But just in case, I’ll try to forward my pool board from Pinterest. I just bought a mountain/lake home in the Ozarks. After thousands of dollars, hundreds of native plants, tons of shipped in compost and topsoil, the only thing that survived our last cruel/hot summer were the daffodils. I’m pretty bitter. And exhausted. But if the you have the gardening bug like I did and do, I would like to recommend some inspirational books. Winter Gardens, reinventing the seasons by Cedric Pollet, May help with your winter blues. Anything by Piet Oudolf, I’m sure you’re familiar from the High Line. Garden Wild by Andre Baranowski. The Hidden Beauty of Seeds and Fruits by Levon Biss will speak to your love of Botanicals. Thank you for sharing on CZcams, I do enjoy it so much more than the usual do this, don’t do that videos.

      Thank you Christina and also thank you for the recommendations. Yes I am familiar with the High Line, I even remember it before it was an elevated park and just a proposal! The city has changed so much. Getting off subject. I'll check out Winter Gardens--sounds lovely. Are you in Missouri? We used to visit the Ozarks in my teens. My father had a little Lake House there. Oh and I would love to see your pool board! Thank you!

    Thanks for this...not very spring-like here in Canada yet! I appreciate your encouragement of our own capacity to see and create beauty in simple things. I keep telling myself to trust my own responses to things. If I can do it in painting, I can do it in creating my interior. I'm slowly getting clearer about HUB.
    I'm guessing that many of us here favour an eclectic mix of furnishings; I was wondering if you could give some do's and don'ts for that. I think I can kind of feel when it's not right, but I never know why!

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes I think many of us here are the eclectic type! I did a video called Cohesive Eclectic-definitely check that one out if you haven’t already. Thank you for the suggestion-it may be time to make a new eclectic video too! Hope spring comes to you soon 🤍 Don’t worry you’ll get there with trusting your instincts-little by little your inner voice will get stronger. I think many of us don’t want to make a mistake but some of the most interesting things in our world come from someone taking a chance or making a happy mistake 😘

    • @carolforbes22
      @carolforbes22 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio Yes, mistakes are part of the process! I should have been more specific with respect to mixing furnishings: I should have mentioned mixing case goods ( wood types and tones, as well as periods). I've seen pics of some mixes that shouldn't work but do. I, on the other hand, have put things together that I love but that do not really work vis a vis HUB.....

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  Před měsícem

      In my opinion what feels good to us is subjective and so if you mix things and love it, embrace it! This is your home and your place to make a mark in this world. If something brings you joy then is it necessary to challenge it? I don’t think so. Only if it gives you the feeling that something is not quite right.

    Hi Christina, thank your for sharing these books! I'm especially interested in garden books. I'm currently living in central coastal Florida and very slowly putting together my little old house and yard on a budget. It has so much potential. Trying to incorporate lots of native plants outside and trying to strike a balance between nature, art, and functionality in the house. I want to keep it simple but relaxed and interesting. I got to visit Hemingway's house in Key West this year, and I was taking pictures of every little thing, not to try to replicate anything, but to try to capture the unpretentious essence of the place. I found it inspiring.

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes Melissa! It’s my pleasure babe 🤗 I’ve heard about Hemingway’s house. My husband Jerry visited before we met and he too was incredibly inspired. I think all those photos and everything you found inspiring goes into you and then comes out in your own way-your own interpretation. That’s the exciting stuff because it’s purely your creation. Keep me posted on your progress. You’re in a place to create something truly stunning and magical. I love the plant life in Florida.
