    Also, if you're feeling frustrated by interior design, making things come together, for just overwhelmed by it all, then I've got a great pep talk for you today.
    I strive to bring you a unique perspective for interior design. It's my hope this video inspires you--and not only gets you feeling creative BUT creating!

    ABOUT ME:
    Hey I'm Christina DiStefano! I am sort of a jack-of-all-trades: artist, sales director for a top NYC real estate development company, certified life coach, yoga instructor, Reiki practitioner, artist (I'm a painter), businesswoman--and now I'm taking on Interior Design via a certification (I'm starting an Interior Design firm in 2024 lovingly called Casa Serenità Interiors. Oh and did I mention I'm leading the renovation of our country home (inside and out)?!
    I believe that home is a sacred place that we nurture, and in return, it nurtures us. That being said, my design process is focused on creating a sanctuary, a place of serenity that truly feels like home.

    My husband and I will tour historic homes when we are on vacation. That's when I found my style. I mix new with the old. My home is a mixture of both. Not clutter , It may take months to find the certain piece I want, that's ok. I don't care about brands, I pick what suits my home. Love your videos.

      You are really doing a beautiful job of explaining to people to create what is "you" reflected in your home's interior. We all look different so why shouldn't our homes. Why are people so concerned about other people:s opinion on our design choices? These trends and their names have become so ridiculous that I cut out a huge amount of ,",influencers" You are spot on about so many things in design. Keep up the direction of originality. About 10 years ago, Actress Jacklyn Smith (Charlie's Angels actress) said it so well. A home has to evolve. It is more rewarding to see your personality take hold in a home over time rather than keep up with the ,"Ikea" crowd and throw things away in a year because an influencer had it in their video.

    I love what you said about avoiding labels. Everything feels like a subscription these days. I don't want to put myself in a box like that. I just want to do what I want to do and not limit what inspires me. I clean my bathroom floor the same way, btw! I skate around with cleaning rags under my feet!

      Hahaha yeah it’s like okay I have to do this and rather than rushing through all of it because I want to get into the next task, I decided I need to just have fun with it. Housekeeping is never going away, unless we were to hire someone-but we’re not, and so I want to enjoy it!
      Regarding the labels, totally. Let’s not box ourselves because then we limit ourselves-better to have a mood, a direction to move in that feels right. God, the universe-whatever you believe, is going to give you better things than you could imagine anyway-if we follow the feeling, i.e. follow our heart ❤️

      Oh my gosh you made my day!! Yes babe this is a process to enjoy. You are creating memories and actually when you do slow down you tap into your creative voice. You don’t have to be “trained” as an artist or designer to access this part of you. It’s in the slowing down that ideas start to surface. When we are out “seeking” we are not listening-listen first, know what you want, then it’s much easier to find ✨🥰

    I like the advice to look not only at things that are eye candy you like, but also at styles you maybe don’t like, but could really study and learn from. And I also think I’ve learned some of the most about longevity and timelessness by looking at old design books. Some of the pictures are so god awful and dated, then some look timeless. It will be some funny accessory like a flower arrangement of the time or a phone w a cord that gives it away. The house book by Terence Conran is like that. I never get tired of revisiting that book.

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Haha ohmygosh I 100% know what you're talking about. I am laughing out loud over here for real, not just the acronym. I love the old design books and you really get a good lesson at how to create a timeless space but yes, some of those interiors of just dated and god awful as you said. The flower arrangements are fascinating to me because like many things, there are flowers that are trendy, same for plants. Perhaps they're somewhat off the radar in terms of talkable, vlogable, bloggable style for us? Either way, you know an outdated flower arrangement when you see it!

      A basket full of black eyed Susans in an otherwise modern interior. Verner Panton right alongside bicentennial early American antique everything. Yikes! Sometimes I worry about accidentally doing the present day equivalent! Not all the ideas should be done all at once!
