- Welcome back, luv! This week we’re hanging out at my home in Manhattan. I will be sharing with you many, many, many of my Pinterest faves. My apologies in advance for the city sounds 🌇 which are big contrast as compared to our peaceful country house!
There’s a lot so be sure to visit this board on Pinterest to access them for further review.

I’m feeling spring is just around the corner-are you? Maybe I’m just being optimistic (haha) but I’m ready to see trees coming back to life and flowers blooming. That being said, it’s a great time to inject more romance, more optimism, and more creativity into your interior design and home.
REMEMBER, don’t wait until the time is right to make your house a home. Live as fully and as beautifully right where you are. My mother, La Donna, is always reminding me to “Bloom where you are planted.” Thank you mom!!
I hope you get loads of inspiration from this video. Sending you so much love from New York.

ABOUT ME:
Hey I'm Christina DiStefano! I am sort of a jack-of-all-trades: artist, sales director for a top NYC real estate development company, certified life coach, yoga instructor, Reiki practitioner, artist (I'm a painter), businesswoman--and now I'm taking on Interior Design via a certification (I'm starting an Interior Design firm in 2024 lovingly called Casa Serenità Interiors. Oh and did I mention I'm leading the renovation of our country home (inside and out)?!
I believe that home is a sacred place that we nurture, and in return, it nurtures us. That being said, my design process is focused on creating a sanctuary, a place of serenity that truly feels like home.

Just found your site Christina, and I’m binging your smart advice. You are a breath of fresh air in a sea of interior CZcamsrs. I’m so tired of all white interiors. And ditto chopped pillows. I like your appreciation for art in a home. Cheers to continued success!
Oh thank you Karen 🤍 and thank you for being here. You're in the right place 🥰 I look forward to bringing you more inspiration!
I couldn’t agree more!
Stop the chop! I’m very excited about the new designs that are finally moving away from what everyone has been stuck in over the past decade.❤
Ohmygosh you and me both. It's exciting to be in a time of expression. I'm excited to see what people come up with. And yes--stop the chop!
Stop The Chop ! Thank you.
I love the things that you love.
Easy with Flow and Beauty runs through it All.
Come Home,
It's Time to Live and Relax relax...
Drop the Slax and Relax...
I love it! It’s kind of like a poem which is 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 to me!
So much of what I see on design sites seems fine for other people…. not me. But you… your designs make my heart sing.
Yeah! I know that feeling and I'm so happy you're feeling that from the video 🥰
I've never chopped my pillows. Don't know why I would😀 I love a home that's is an ongoing process. I don't like taking a show room of furniture and plopping it in a room. Great informative video. Thank you
You and me both Cindi. When I see a home that looks like a showroom, I'm immediately transported to the condo showrooms at work---not a good feeling for a home. We can do better! It just feels so boring and predictable. My favorite homes are those that teach me a little something about the person living in it. It's warm and it's real living.
Yes...stop the chop!!! Another inspiring video! Thank you! Just want to point out that your background music is a lovely addition and I appreciate the volume of the music and your speaking are the same level! Not many youtubers have mastered this! Well done!!!
Oh thank you! Hahaha I am learning more and more with each video--and really appreciate you pointing that out Nicole! It makes the hours of editing so worth it. Happy you liked it 😘
Such beautiful images, your taste is similar to my own. New and old add to our homes character and make for interesting discoveries for our guests. Chop the chop! Thank you. I am so glad your channel came up in my feed and I have caught up with most of your videos already. It is your warm, cozy and real life feel I am enjoying with my Sunday morning coffee.
You are the sweetest--I just had an "Awwwwww 🥰" out loud kind of moment when I read this.
I love your channel. The photos you select to illustrate a point really show a deeper understanding of design than I've seen on other channels.
THANK YOU 😘😘😘😘😘 I spend about 2-3 hours total on each video just sourcing the images to illustrate my point. It’s a process BUT seeing your comment makes it all worth it 🤗
Dresser as island?!?! This might solve my kitchen!
Yeah!! I love it in mine 🤍
Thank you! I love your ideas❤️
Stop the chop haha
I feel like SNL should have a skit about people who obsessively chop and can’t stop lol
You’re right! That would be so funny. They could also add a song to it 😂
Yay for you! So sick of everything bland, beige, and boring. You have the style and grace! Bring it on home 🤗And YES PLEASE! Stop the chop! Let a marshmallow pillow be exquisitely just what it is.
Oooh I love that term, “marshmallow pillow” it’s perfect!!! PS yes! Stop the chop!
Fun video! The mix of modern and vintage is a favorite look.
Thanks Tobey! Yes and it's so much more fun and expressive too! Happy you're here 😘
I’m definitely anti ‘karate chopped’ cushions (pillows in US). Queen of interior design Kelly Hoppen is also anti-chop. It feels over-styled. We’re in good company 😊❤
Hi Pauline! Yes, it definitely feels over-styled and uninviting!
The drop cloth as a sofa cover was intriguing. I've got a white sofa, and this idea might be pretty yet practical when little visitors arrive.
Oh yes such a good idea! Didn’t think about that but I think this could help so many with little ones!
Thank goodness! I thought I was alone in disliking the chop pillow. Spread the news, Christina. I've actually had people (friends) come into my home and do it to my pillows, saying, "This is what you're supposed to do>' No, it's not. Not in my house, at least.
Oh nooo!! Haha I think it’s split in the design world but it’s time to let it go. It’s not aligned with the way we live now. I’ll keep spreading the word Melanie!! You can count on me 🤍
Tapestry, old world vintage is not my vibe but appreciate the fact that you talk about different concepts
You are so welcome. I’m here to inspire you to create and style your home in a way that works for you. It’s about taking the bits that inspire you most 🤍 and recreating them in your own way.
I agree! Never been a chopper.
Stop the chop!! Should be a hashtag 🤓
Sooo funny, I just incorporated a lot of these things in my bathroom renovation! I recently installed a black and white hexagon floor tiles. I also bought a modern brown wood bathroom vanity, but offset it with a vintage Venetian mirror & vintage-inspired porcelain cross handle faucet. And as for the bedroom, I’ve been hanging a vintage handmade Irish wool blanket behind my bed frame and love how cozy and layered it looks :) Plus, the height it gives to a room with short ceilings!
Sounds lovely! Good for you for incorporating things into you home that are expressive and unique. And yes, I forgot to mention that tin the video but you are right--it gives the illusion of height. So good!
I did "peachy" in the 80's and don't care to go back there, and I've never done the block, either. I'm currently on the lookout for a tapestry or even a quilt for a wall. (Great hair day BTW) X
Thanks babe! I curled it just for you 🤗 I get it on the peachy color. I had the phone and the makeup caddy in peach back in the day-also had a bedroom this color!
🍑It’s growing on me it I don’t think Jerry would ever go for it!
Never knew about the chopped pillow until recently..and I did not like it. I agree- it looks so strange and un-natural. I have a canopy bed, an antique bed bought overseas years ago. It is beautiful...and yes, long velvet drapes...it is a beautiful experience each time I go to bed, and I never get tired of it. Also recently purchased a screen bought from an old chateau with gowned ladies and musicians. Hanging on one of the walls in our bedroom. Yes...creative and romantic...a boudoir indeed :)
Wow this sounds gorgeous! Also, such unique and meaningful finds too. I love it.
Stop the chop!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Whop! Whop! 🙌
Stop the chop! great channel Christina, I always look forward to watching
Awesome Jamie--thank you for being here and contributing. Hope to keep inspiring you luv!
Hello again, from Sarah in Minneapolis, Minnesota!😘 Thank you for sharing your pinterest favorites, Christina🥰--I love your tour of these visual delights--lots of fun! 😍
🙏🌲💐🌲😊💚😘🌲💐🌲🙏
P.S. Our new countertops are now installed--Viatera's 'Soprano'...I can hardly wait to have our eBay-sourced 1920s Portuguese tulip tiles stove backsplash installed.🤩
But first--the stove!😉
Oooooh Sarah-wow!! I’m excited for you! The tiles 😍 getting a visual now.
I am hooked on you! Thanks for the inspiration
You’re welcome Cathy!!! I’m happy you’re here and I can inspire you! This is going to be a regular series so stay tuned for more eye candy 😘
Yes! Stop the chop please. I also really love your take on the new artsy bohemian anything goes style. I watch a ton of decorating videos and you said it first.
Oooh I love knowing that. I don't watch too many interior design videos anymore because I don't want to repeat or be influenced by them in my design advice or inspiration. I know people say to know your competition, but I want to be the cool black sheep of the interior design CZcamsrs and help people be creative in their homes. A long answer for me to say THANK YOU--but I appreciate you CD (and if these are your initials, then we have the same ones)! XOXOCD
I agree about the chopped pillow thing! It's just too staged. It's so nice to hear you agree. I was actually just thinking about the chopped pillow thing the other day and feeling like I'm noncompliant or socially awkward because I just ca't get onboard with the chop.
Great video! Thanks!
Hahaha YOU ARE NOT ALONE babe! There is nothing wrong with you for not liking chopped pillows. Just blahhhh in my book!
I totally agree with stopping the chop! Never understand that design concept. I love my pillows fluffed up and full! Thank you for saying what a lot of us are thinking.
Just subscribed and loving your suggestions and tips thus far. I love a romantic space as well, but may take a couple more pillows, bedding and working on future drape panels.
Living in a bachelor suite presently. I love color but not allowed to paint. So taking your que and possibly incorporate some shelving in one area of apartment to create storage, area for storing ornaments and books, as well as excuse to paint or wallpaper back of shelving to add contrast. Thabk you again.
I love it! Yes the obstacles are just opportunities to get creative and I love that you're willing to look at alternative way to bring that much loved color into your world. Keep me posted. Would love to know how it turns out!
Agreed on the chopped pillows 🙌🏾. I’ve always hated those and I don’t like sofa throws. But overall in agreement with you. Some nice examples shown.
Oh thank you 🥰 and it’s okay-definitely not for everyone. I appreciate the feedback!
Great video. I really connect with your vibe. "New Bohemian" is perfect label.
Thank you! I appreciate that and am happy you’re here 😘 Yeahhh I like that term too!
The chop is just very......contrived!
1000000% Let's move on people, nothing to see here but some beaten up pillows.
wow you just gave a great idea for a dresser i have here!!!!! thanks!
Yeah!!! I’m so happy it inspired you!
love the tapestry as art. you have good taste.
Thank you! 😊 So pleased you liked it, Stacy!
Thank you for your videos Christina, I totally agreed with your perception of ideal home decor, and make it personal...thank you for your time and energy, I agreed with all your concepts of ideal home decor, I usually look into videos, and Nature is my inspiration, and most neutrals for me and my family. Every video of diferents youtubers seems to me the same house lol, is traquil and beautiful, but sometimes locks of individuality, this comments I should had posted on your other video of trends, Ha! Cheers
Awe thank you!! It’s my pleasure and I’m so happy you’re getting something from it 🤍 I love that you get inspiration from nature. I do too!!
A great video! ❤We made our own BR mirror with an antique frame. We took it to Lowe’s and had them cut us the perfect size mirror for the frame. It is gorgeous!
Great idea!!!! I love that you shared that. There are so many interesting and creative ways to repurpose things!
Love the creativity used
Thank you Ruth! I’m so happy you liked the video and appreciate it. I try my best to think outside the box 🥰
3:10-3:13: I'm not sure what makes a mirror vintage: about 20 or 25 years ago, I purchased a wood-framed mirror from San Francisco Burlington Coat Factory. The frame is a warm beige with multiple layers of molding. The main feature I love about the molding is what I can only describe as a train track design. And the glass near the frame is beveled. I've lugged this mirror across multiple apartments, and it even sat in storage for a few years. For the last 12 years, she has proudly hung above my hallway table. Since I started working remotely, I've taken restock of how much it brings me joy😊
Awww I love that! And I love that you’re finding a new sense of appreciate for this beauty. I suppose what makes something vintage by definition is a piece over 20-years and less than 100. Anything younger is classified as retro but I feel people use these terms loosely as well.
Yes for stop the chop! 😊 I appreciate all your videos.
Yay! Thank you! ✋ the CHOP!
Loving this channel! Gives some validation to the way I want to decorate. Thank you. And I also hate the chop. I read somewhere that it looks like nervous dog ears and I can't unsee that now. Ok, back to binging your videos! xx
I never thought about it as nervous dog ears but you’re totally right!! 😂 Thank you for sharing-so good!
Hi, beautiful Christina!! Oh my god I loved this video. You inspire me with your design choices and you make me laugh as always.
I know I’ve said this before but girl, I can’t believe how much we are on the same page about design.
I loved every design element you talked about and I have incorporated some of the things you mentioned. I especially love having my beautiful, white, linen cafe curtains in my kitchen window - it feels cozier and frames the view to my backyard perfectly. And I love having dressers placed in unexpected locations in my home. There’s something about finding surprising elements and touches that makes my heart happy. And those “vinishes…” 😂 Ah, what can I say? I love those vinishes so much too. Elegance, timeless beauty, etc…
I also couldn’t agree with you more about the chopped pillows. Good lord, I don’t know who started that or why, but it’s always been a total turn off for me. Just stop already people. Go chop your vegetables instead and leave the pillows alone.
I see that you’re growing your CZcams channel so quickly and rightfully so! You are what so many people have been searching for. You’re a breath of fresh air, humor, and design inspiration!
I can’t wait to see where you take this. And I’m so happy to be following along. Sending much love and congratulations to you, sweetheart. Xoxo
Georgina! Hi luv! It sounds like we definitely are! I'd love to see pics of your home someday :D
Ohmygosh--thank you for making me laugh (out loud) with your message. "Go chop your vegetables!" I'm taking that one and keeping it in my pocket. So good and you get me--my brain just likes to combine words for some reason. This is not the first time, and it won't be the last. "Hanitizer" was another one that popped up, but yes, I'm loving the vinishes.
Also, I'm happy you're here and shinning your light all over the comments section. You are so thoughtful, and I appreciate you noticing the channel's growth. I'm having so much fun with this and how it's leading me to meet lovely people like you!
XOCD
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio “Hanitizer” 😂😂😂 I love it! Now you had me laughing out loud. It’s so funny how the brain works. Or in my case, how it doesn’t work a lot of the time.
I think the word combining is from having a very enthusiastic, highly creative mind and your mouth is trying to keep up by smooshing them together. 😜 Whatever the reason, it’s adorable!
Thank you so much for your message - it really touched me. You are just the loveliest, sweetest human being.
I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Xo ❤️
Georgina--somehow I missed your lovely reponse! Awww thank you for all he kind words lovely! We attract what we are and you are just as sweet! Hope you had a good Valentine's Day. That was a while back now, so hopefully spring is treating you well!
PS I couldn't agree more with your analysis of word combining haha--mouth and mind are trying very hard to get on the same page--and if not, we word combine!
Just found you...your style is my
Style.
Have always hated chop pillows.. offensive to me, because I am a pillow person. Self taught designer and very creative.
My home is like a storybook..love❤
Stop the chop! I’m a pillow person too! Happy you’re here Marcia 😘
Stop the chop! I’m a pillow person too! Happy you’re here Marcia 😘
Hi 👋!! I totally agree with everything. Love.
So glad! Thank you luv! 🥰
First time watching.. 💯
Aww thanks for being here!!!! 🤗
So glad I found your channel! I love your point of view
Thank you, luv! I'm happy you are here too and look forward to inspiring you more every week!
❤️
😂😂😂 I am also on the stop the chop team!!!! 😂😂 It actually annoys me when I see one 😒😂😂😂
Hahaha Brenda---yes!!!! 😂 There are apparently so many of us that are annoyed and over it! I like a huggable pillow ❤️
Great content, thank you so much! ❤
You’re welcome Kim! I’m pleased you enjoyed it 🤍
I like your style!😊
Thank you! I appreciate that!!! 🤗
Oh girl I love it all! Our styles or at least our concepts are so aligned! Like you said, I personally just don’t lean old world and regal, but love so many of these elements. I love that you explain that, that you can take it down your own style path. I def took a screenshot of that green beadboard bathroom with the black mirror ;)
Haha yes Jennifer! These can be applied to ay style that is aligned with you. I try to give several examples so you can find one that makes sense for you or hopefully illustrate how we can get creative with repurposing used, vintage, thrifted and antique furniture. Nice to see you here 😘
Love this video! 😊
Thank you Erica! Happy you’re here 🤗
I like a chop here and there, but mixed with non-choppeds. 🥋
It’s your home babe and you make the rules 🤍🤍🤍
Great content!
🤗Thank you do much!
***Greetings from Northern MN! I agree! Stop the pea-picking chop! 🤮 You go girl!!!!***
Hahahaha YES!!!! :D
loooveee
Thank you 🥰
Subscribed. We literally have the same taste. 🍾🥂
Yeah!!!! Thank you and welcome! I hope to inspire you more!
2:19: I guess you have to have the wood sealed to protect against the shower steam?
That would be wise to make to make sure the drawers remain functional and in tact. The drawers could/would warp if there was no way for steam to exit. If it was a very old, rustic piece then the drawers may not open properly anyway!
I’ve had a dresser like in the picture in my bathroom for 20 years. The steam only lasts for 10 minutes. Hopefully your bathroom has ventilation, windows and fans. I guess if you live somewhere super humid and don’t have adequate ventilation maybe there would be a problem, but hard to imagine. I mean you’d have mould problems before wood problems.
@@honeyrococo I agree with you, there should hopefully be room for the steam to leave the bathroom and wouldn't pose a huge issue. Thank you for the feedback and the example! Super helpful 😘
Chopped pillows have never looked right to me. They look contrived/unnatural. But each to her/his own.🎉
I really hope that just goes away and never comes back. It doesn’t look like a pillow 😂
The chop makes a pillow look like a rabbit. I hate it. lol
😂 I never thought of it that way but you are SO RIGHT! Just odd looking all around and I don’t know how or why people thought to do this.
Oops I think I responded to someone else haha but what I wanted to say to you is that I don’t know how or why this ever started. Also you are 100% right on the rabbit-just a plain odd practice all around. Stop the chop!
Hello from Southern California! I need advice on how to hire an interior decorator to update my whole house with furniture and accessories. I have no idea what to expect . I have 3k sq ft home, 4 bedroom , 3bath with a formal dining room, family room. I have no idea what a mid budget would give us. What would mid budget be considered?
Hi again!!! Truthfully a mid-budget could be anything as it's all relative. I would take time to asses exactly how much money you have to spend, like realistically considering new furniture and accessories, first for each room then add that up. Will you need paint/wallpaper, etc or simply furniture/accessories? Is everything new or some items vintage/repurposed? Painting, wallpaper, widow treatments will add labor costs plus the designer's hours (though some do charge per project with an allocated number of hours for modifications and changing out furniture). Then shop around. Many designers have a minimum budget they're willing to work with so keep that in mind. You could easily spend $100K-200K or more. They will also charge to "hold & receive" the furniture in a storage facility until the install day. These are things to ask upfront how they charge and get some sort of an agreement on paper so every knows upfront what is expected and all the costs involved. If you work with an e-designer then the design costs go way down--but you're doing the shopping and the work yourself. They will provide you with a list of pieces, directions as to where each piece will go, renderings and a mood board. You would also have to provide measurements of the rooms and photos but if you like getting involved you can have a lot of fun with that!
💪
One I found someone called chopped pillows - karate pillows 😂 and yeach... I don't like it. I like when it looks brand new
Ouch!! We don’t need to harm any more innocent pillows people 😂
No chop! 🤮 Thank you for including that.
😂✋the CHOP
Great video. Very European.
Thank you!! Hope you’re having a great week. Nice to see you here again ☺️
The chop has got to 🛑 stop 😂
Yes yes stop the chop ✋
I absolutely despise chopped pillows.
Hahaha so BAD! Stop the chop!
1:30: She has pretty legs
Right?! Love this one!
Stop the chop!!😅
Whoooohoooo yes!
I hate the chop❤❤
Yes people--stop, please 😘
Thank God, I’m not the only one that has despised the chop!🙄 Not only was it stupid, but it has been so overdone and annoying!😂
So over done! Yes 😉 It’s time to let the pillows just be a pretty pillow sans the chop!
Never liked the chop- They say U do feeling- copy catious- not realistic. I like a lived in comfy home.
Agreed. Comfy and welcoming--not stuffy at all.
Ugh.
Always disliked the chop. Love your vibe.
Hahaha thanks Melinda! Time to stop chopping innocent pillows!!
Hate the chop.
Yes! It’s time to put it behind us once and for all.
I also have never chopped
