  • Name: Jason Saft
    Location: Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, NY
    Size: 450 Sq Ft / 42 Sq Meters
    Type of Home: Studio
    Years Lived In: Owned, 1 year
    As one of the original team members at the real estate company Compass and with over 20 years of real estate experience, Jason Saft (@StagedtoSellHome) who also founded and owns the professional staging company Stage To Sell Home, knows what to look for in potential homes. In 2022, Saft toured an open studio apartment a couple of blocks from where he lived. He was already familiar with the building and described it as “like something out of a movie with its quiet lush street position.” Since moving in, he’s restored the home to its original prestige without fully renovating it. One of his proudest design accomplishments was updating the kitchen by placing new flooring, adding removable wallpaper, and painting the cabinets. He describes the new space as “sexy grandma.”

    This is such an inspiring video. Jason has taken a 450 sq. ft. old apartment and made into an oasis. As you look at the space, it feels like it is much bigger than what it is. He has used every inch of space to his advantage -- showcasing all his lovely art and all of his other prized possessions. He also made great use of the vertical space in his closet. His daughter's room is lovely; all her toys are near her. He looks like he is probably a great dad. By observing his gentle manner, I am sure that he is. He seems very patient and attentive. He may have not renovated the bathroom or kitchen, but you would never know by seeing what he created in both those rooms. Kudos to Jason! I hope that we can witness more videos as he does his renovations.

    Refreshing. Unpretentious, honest, warm man with a beautiful design style for his own home. understanding what home means to you particularly when you’ve had childhood instability is so important…this means not buying into what anyone else tells you your home should look like or be. security, comfort, stability, a place to gather and spend time with the people you love, where you can be yourself and be your creative self while feeing supported is actually a harder life to build than it sounds. I love this apartment and this man’s humility. 👌🏽🥳🌸

      @SheilaR.08 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@lsamoaThere are no unanchored mirrors. As for the artwork, the paintings and scultures are classical in style, no different from what you'd find in a museum. @lsamoa Před 6 měsíci +6

    That's a really beautiful apartment.. for one person. It feels like the daughter also living there is very much an afterthought. Dining table for one, more space for his shoes than her stuff, giant unstable mirror that isn't properly secured to the wall and that moves when someone inevitably leans against it (so dangerous!), lots of sex-referring items everywhere, even above the kitchen sink. This looks like a very temporary arrangement, in the long run this isn't going to work. I'm not one for homes covered with toys and Disney posters, but kids do need a bit more accomodations than this. At the very least their own seat at the dining table and some basic home safety measures like securing heavy items so they don't fall on them.
    I'm not sure why he'd want to renovate the bathroom and kitchen though, they seem to be fully functional and in great condition, plus they have a lot of charm. There's no need to do more than what he's done, it looks great.

    • @laundryweather
      @laundryweather Před 6 měsíci +3

      I got the impression from this video that his daughter only stays with him sometimes-- every other weekend is a pretty common custody arrangement. I agree that the art and mirrors should be extra secure for safety, but I didn't see anything sexual or explicit in the video, only things that are suggestive to an adult but would go right over a young child's head. The nude female form is not inherently sexual and is all over public museums that she will visit frequently as a kid growing up in New York City. As she gets older he will likely have to move to a place where she can have her own bedroom and possibly make some changes in the decor.

As well as using those IKEA shoe cabinet which it has a cover to hide the shoe clutter. Majority of his decor is nice but sometimes it feels a bit too cluttered for my liking. I have to give it to him for using a white banquette, I would never be able to pull that off - it would get dirty fast.

    Interesting. Often these small spaces are, well, still obviously super small no matter how it’s decorated or organized. This actually feels like a large, dynamic and multifunctional home. Love it!

    Wow, I really liked this home. It´s elegant and has so much beautiful art and special furniture, all of them placed in such an harmonious, not pretentious way...at the same time its cozy, personal and inviting. And the wood details in the building stairs!...Just an amazing place, congratulations.

    It's a great building and apartment, but he is not a Bachelor in his 20's anymore and everything is about him. I get it he wants to live in a Mansion in Brooklyn to impress the people but if you have a child you need at least two rooms.

      @@polarknight856 I didn't think it was strange in and of itself especially because he's gey. I think it's strange to have that in the presence of his child. I wouldn't allow my children to go to a house that had that on display.

    Love the decor! Warm, welcoming, and many places of interest. I know you want it open, but I think I’d put a ceiling hung curtain around the rectangle that’s the daughter’s space-same length of the wall it’s up against. Something mottled and reflective, mirroring the gold, bronze, taupe colours found in the room. Or a built in closet/study/hang out area in that spot with a bed loft above once she is old enough. The bed can remain and you can gain some storage place or an office when she goes off to college.

    ugh, I love all of these old details, I know he seems to be itching to renovate (because he mentioned it a million times), but you lose the charm. My first dorm apartment bathroom had that same hamper and honestly it's so amazing, I hate that new spaces don't have this. There is a certain charm that might get lost once he does finally renovate. I hope he meant restore, it looks really good as is.

    What a thoughtful space, and nice to see a detailed and object oriented space that a child interacts with. Most parents design for children and usually that ends up looking bare and a bit primary.

    This is definitely motivating. I recently moved to a large city and I’m living in a 350 sq. ft studio and I honestly feel overwhelmed trying to figure out what I can do with it. While yours is a bit bigger, it’s still a small amount of space to do much with so this was pretty inspiring. Looks like I have some work to do.
