  • In this video I review a 1999 GMC Sierra which was the first year of this new generation of the Sierra. Dating back to 1987 the Sierra name has been in use on GMC pickups for many years but they made things official with this model.

I bought my 1999 Sierra 4x4 Z71 extended cab new with the 5.3 engine. I rebuilt the trans around 100K , new alternator and new AC compressor. I towed a 27 foot trailer for a number of years and it only has 135,000 miles on it. I replaced the shocks front and rear and it really brought it's ride back to like new. It's been kept garaged since I have owned it and the paint and chrome is in perfect shape. It's fire engine red, still turns heads and I get offers on it all the time. The Vortec engine is one of the best GM ever made. :)

I have a 99 sierra slt 4wd stepside. Have a 6in lift coming for it with bilstenshocks, and 35in tires tucked under the wheel wells. 220k miles on the 5.3l. Love the hell out of this truck. I have had it for about 4 months now. Currently has a 4in lift on it, 22in rims, 31in tires. No rubbing at full turn. My son who is 4, and daughter that is 9 loves my truck. They hates taking the car now. 06 charger. Best thing is the motor and trans are cheap to replace, and with little upgrades it can be one hell of a power house. Im looking about building this truck, and keeping it for as long as I can. Last owner put one hell of a sound system in it to. Im taking from a pavement princess to a nice driving daily driver.

I just purchased a 2006 Sierra extended cab 4x4 5.3 with a body lift and leveling kit, 20" wheels and threw on some 275/60r 20 Goodyear tires on it. The more that I drive it the more that I like it. It drives far better than i thought it would and runs smooth and strong. Not to shabby for 183k plus on it.

  • @qualitylandscapeandhauling7942

I owned a 2001 gmc with the 4.8 v8 . I bought it brand new in 2001. I put 310,000 in 14 years . It never broke down. Everything was still original. I just did the maintenance . I sold it and bought 2015 fully loaded gmc slt . That was the biggest mistake ever. Worse gmc truck ever. Kept breaking down every 6 months. I had to sell it after 2 years.

I just bought a 2000 with 126,000 miles. Its not perfect as the power steering pump is shot and also the a/c panel needs to be replaced but these are very minor issues given the age. I'm going to put some money into it and take good care of her.
