  • I've had these boots for a little over a year. You can check out the fishing videos and see me walking around the in water with them. I've used these boots for just about everything from hiking, hunting, backpacking and yard work.
    I really like the speed laces and the thickness of the soles. One issue I have is when it is fully laced up tight the speed laces touch each other, but every video and picture of the boys and girls over seas they have them laced up the same way.
    Half off Danner Boots.

    These are the best desert/dry hiking boots I've ever had. I just put in some Dr. Scholls Active Series and they took away a little hot spot I've had on the ball of my right foot. Any hike over 5 miles and I'd feel it getting warm, no blisters just the feeling that if I had to put in over 20 miles in a day I'd be in trouble.

    They're not too bad. They are a true stitch down boot and will naturally be heavier than your tennis shoe style throw away boots but it won't take you long to get used to them.

    I feel like conditioning and slightly shining these takes their utility to a different level but I never saw a single person with conditioned rats. Either bleached white from the desert and cracking or waterlogged and cracking

    Great video by the way I just got a pair of these boots brand new for $140 courtesy of my son stationed at Camp Pendleton somehow he got a good deal on these as they were phasing them out, anyway my question to you I don't think you were supposed to use a conditioner oil type on nubuck so my question to you is how are these boots holding up as a result after all these years cuz I have some of this obenaufs as well and was thinking about applying it to my boots. Thanks for any info

    I just got the Gore-Tex version from Amazon for $72.
    Edit:
    If the size I bought fits correctly. I will also be using Obenauf's on my boots. However, I just had an idea. Since the leather will darken with the use of leather oils. I might try using a dark brown dye that works on synthetic and natural fibers. Obviously, I would do this before oiling. If it works correctly it will dye the nylon and the boot sole as well. Turning the entire boot dark brown.
    Or maybe that idea is to crazy. 🧐

      You got ripped off, I paid 71$ 😂. Not much for ankle support compared to my Danner Quarry but I like them for hunting. I use silicone spray on mine because I figure clogging the pores with grease or wax based conditioner defeats the breath
      ability of the gore tex. Silicone spray might do the same?

      I ended up selling them for $100 on eBay. 😎
      ~ Using the oils or waxes on the leather is still recommended. The silicone spray is really for raincoats.

    Hello. I just got the Gore Tex version. Do u think I should stay with that vs the one like yours with the Vents?

    • @KimballCody

      Depends on the conditions you're in. If you're in a dry environment and don't encounter much moisture I'd go with these.

    Any ideas how much heavier the temperate boots are from the hot ones? Website says they weigh the same.

    I have a question. I have recently purchased a pair of Mountain Light IIs which are made of smooth leather. Would the obenhauf's work on those too?

    • @KimballCody
      @KimballCody  Před 7 lety

      it'll work, doesn't absorb as much. i have them on my mountain lights

      Ah! I can see that. I went ahead and applied some and it is soaking in, just very, very slow. Thanks for the reply!

    • @KimballCody
      @KimballCody  Před 7 lety +1

      if you can let them sit for a day or two it'll soak in more. just wipe them off with a paper towel before you use them.

    • @lovecraft4780
      @lovecraft4780 Před 7 lety

      Yeah I won't really need them much until the cooler weather sets in so I have plenty of time to let them cure. Then I'll zap them with the Obenhauf's spray silicone on top of that.

    @earthsurfer13 I'd say there isn't any difference. The desert boot has a water permeable liner and the temperate boot has a goretex liner. To my understanding it doesn't have any insulation.
