      +Robert C. Danner They are the only boots I wear Robert. From light hiking boots to my heavier back country boots, they are all Danner! I think I have 6 total pairs of them at this point.
      Your grandfather started a great company. They are hands down, all things considered, the best boots for the money in my book.
      Thanks for the comment. It's actually an honor to hear from you. I can't even begin to imagine how many miles in the back country I've covered wearing Danner Boots.

    I bought a pair of Danner Matterhorns when I was stationed in Italy back in '96. I still have them, and have been re-soled once while I was still on Active Duty. They are beat up, a little rough around the edges, still water proof and occasionally wear them, even to just kick around in. Danner makes an awesome boot!

    Been wearing Danner's almost 40 years. Favorite is the USA made 'Elk Hunter'. USA made Acadia without GTX another favorite but it seems they stopped making them, too bad if so, it was a real versatile workhorse boot and superbly comfortable. Wore the 'FT Lewis' boot in the Army during black boot days. Tried the 'RAT' but its longevity was sub par. Seems quality has slipped some since La Crosse bought Danner out. Then, it seems, a Japanese parent company came into the picture, don't know a dern thing about them.

    Question are they steel caps, I ask this as whether it be for hiking or general purpose walking I would aways suggest something with a steel cap, in a shtf scenario footwear you can kick with may save your life..
    If I'm going to be an area incase with water I would be inclined to stock shoes designed to be used I a water envioronment I wold also look at wetsuit pants atleast

      Jason howe One of the pairs I wear does have steel toes. I think the others just have some kind of heavy duty polymer toe cap. They are pretty rigid.

      Hmm for a thermal layer I would of thought the divers wear would be more prudent to stock, I was also thinking of an urban environment situation and if you have to go native and go bush I would of thought shoe designed for water use was an option let's face it ipf you gotta cros a river wearing an soaking the foot wear isn't an ideal thing todo..

    Hi Coyote, just a question: before buying did you find the Danner Recon/Acadia 200mg Thinsulate boots came up a little small (especially to fit an insole), and did you size up, whether a whole or half a size to your usual size? Thanks.

    • @CoyoteWorks01
      @CoyoteWorks01 Před 8 lety

      +Sandy Dandy Hi Sandy. Yes. I typically buy a 1/2 size up from my exact fit with the Danners so I have room for a good insole, and some thicker socks. Also, especially if I am going to be wearing them in cold weather I like a little bit of room in the boot. I find for me it helps my feet stay warmer if my boots aren't too tight.
      Hope that answers your question.;-)

      +AJ Sorenson The Raptor have been discontinued by Danner. They also made an exact boot like the Raptor, but these were all leather construction (Raptors have upper Cordura) and were called the Santiam. These are discontinued as well. You may find some online retailers that still have a couple of these discontinued styles in stock, but otherwise, keep an eye on eBay and some will show up eventually. I have a few pairs of the Santiam (as well as a ton of other Danner boots) and they are awesome! It's a shame they discontinued them.

    Honest question here. I have nothing but utmost respect for our troops, but having never served myself, is it frowned upon for me to wear tactical style military boots? My terrain I play in is southern Commiefornia and I have given up on suede/mesh hiker style boots they just don't do well for me. I've been thinking about trying a pair of the Tanicus or maybe the USMC Rats. Keens and Lowas all just look ugly to me.

    • @CoyoteWorks01
      @CoyoteWorks01 Před 6 lety

      No my friend. Most of the boots I wear are some kind of military model of Danners. But several other brands make good Miltary Tactical boots. In my experience they just tend to be better built, last longer, and honestly offer better comfort and support. Currently I’m still wearing Danners. I’ve even started using the newer Danner Tachyon which is a really light weight minimalist boot that’s great for hot weather. And they last a ton longer and look cooler than any of the Keens, Lowes, Merrills, etc.
