Nice job Richard!
That was a much better intro than the official stream from DTG and Rivet. In terms of route as a non-local you wouldn't have been aware of a problem with Kinghorn Tunnel; actually a real life problem that's not simulated. The Kinghorn Tunnel was bored from both ends and famously there was an argument between the engineers with the result being that the two bores misaligned. Kinghorn Tunnel to this day has a kink where trains take a sharp right then left bend, but it looks like here the tunnel is a steady curve. Dovetail Games got this wrong for Train Simulator 2022 also, but Don Clarke's OpenBVE route from Edinburgh to Aberdeen gets it correct.
I'm looking forward to a test drive tomorrow.
I'm impressed with the detailing of the Starks Park football ground when approaching Kirkcaldy, pretty much spot on!
Hey Richard, that supposed CCTV is actually a screen that tells drivers how to operate the unit,
(DAS) it's on quite a lot of units. Including Northern rail versions, however it's only programmed for Scotrail use.
That's as I suspected. when Jasper said it was CCTV in the Rivet Games stream, I did doubt it.
It doesn't tell drivers anything except the next stop, mileage, and the current linespeed (which is wrong about 30% of the time). Its a waste of space really, and its isolated altogether on a lot of 170s and HSTs, for some reason it's more reliable on the 158s.
The announcements seem odd because EDINBURGH GATEWAY was a relativity new station. As such the announcement was recorded at different time from all the others and she practically shouts the name in RL. 🤔 And while I agree about some of the field textures some of the 'fields' are actually golf courses and recreation parks that do have very boring textures. What I will say is being very familiar with the route they have gone all out for accuracy of all the buildings near the track as well as the coastal details such as rocks, sea walls, islands etc.
Loved this route late 70s early 80s...loads of traffic..26s, 27s ,47s, 20s, 40s, dmus , and frieght from the now defunct power station neae Kirkcaldy. Used to stand on burntislsnd bridge or on the links.
Just out of curiosity, can you sound the horn in ALL 4 directions or just the 2?
Is it possible to change season, if so, do the trees get bare? In this video, it's unrealistically verdant, even for midsummer! (I live in Fife)
Yes you can change the season and the trees should respond to that.
Nice to see the 170 seems pretty good! The only oddity I noticed here is the way the engine sounds fade out (or don't) as you move away from the train
If anything, it's a little too loud in the cab. In reality, all you can hear when driving them is the wind / run sounds and the cab air con...the engine is only really audible at very slow speeds.
I drive this route / traction all the time for real, and the acceleration seems realistic (for a particularly good set), and braking the same.
In reality, a good 158 or 170 will make 75 not long before the 75 curve at Forrester (end of Haymarket straight).
Awesome video knowing way things are probably kuju era graffiti
my local line,absolutely brilliant
Do you know if the class 170 go on different Scotland and uk route in timetable. Plus do you know if come with fright train and railway tourist.
The 170 can be layered onto other routes using scenario planner and the free roam mode. Freight and rail tours are being added, but wont be available on release.
hey dad rail do u think they will do more on the bakaroo line like make the jubilee line come to life
I think the Bakerloo line would be a good update, with the 710 layered on
You can use the quiet horn by clicking on it.. you just have to click either left or right of the horn stick (😂) to use it . 👍
Hoping to get this tomorrow or will have to wait till payday 😮😢
it would be good if they had the HST running on the route as AI. they could of used a scotrail HST from the creators club
Nice looking route bit in no way as impressive as the Goblin (Suffragette) Line. I was amazed to see it inherited the weird "blue flash" as you enter the tunnels at Edinburgh from Glasgow-Edinburgh! Would have thought they'd manage a basic wave effect like in West Cornwall too...
Usually on this route, you very often see a 170 coupled to a 158. They should add a reskin of the EMR 158
Definitely
They should also add 158s onto ECML and LNER 43s
Skyhook are making a Scotrail 158 for this route.
You've got to visit Edinburgh! Best city in the UK for sure
I really need to! I have been to Glasgow, but that is as far as my Scottish experience goes so far.
Absolutely you can’t forget Edinburgh cobbles n lush blue/green seas
@@DadRailawesome video don’t forget if you visit Scotland the malt whiskey n scotch that lovely warm feeling in throat
@@LadySophieofHougunManor7325 I recently bought a scotch egg for lunch, but had to take it back as there was no Scotch in it...
@@John2Ward 😂
What is the beige coloured screen to the right of the driver on top of the dash?
Rivet Games said it is a CCTV monitor. I'm not so sure, I think it maybe the driver advisory system (DAS)
It's the DAS system, telling drivers how to operate the unit. While it's on quite a few of the 170 sets for other companies such as Northern Rail, etc. It's only programmed to work on Scotrail sets.
@JCarlton09 I think the only reason others have it is because they used to be SR ones, for example EMR 170416 or all Northern ones
@@Danse_Macabre_125 Yeah, that’s correct
@@JCarlton09 a shame it ouldnt have been added as a feature.
Do you know how to turn on safety systems, I tried to turn them on and train not moving after closing the doors
Living on the route, my reactions are a bit mixed. They’ve got some of the big bits of scenery looking really good, but when you get to the coastal bit from Aberdour to Kirkcaldy there are loads of generic objects, so the Kirk by the Sea is just a generic spired church, and the trees are all far too big compared to what it’s actually like in real life. The graffiti everywhere is completely wrong for the coastal stretch too - we have bits but certainly not the levels on here.
Train wise it’s pretty accurate, although the announcements are wrong for the Fife Circle.
Don’t worry about overshooting Dalgety Bay - I’ve been on an actual Fife Circle train that did that at one point to much complaining from the passengers!
Dalgety Bay in the up direction and Aberdour in the down direction are favourites for overshoots and fail to calls.
didnt they remove the unrealistic jingle before the announcement on Edin-Glas? only to add them back to this route what the actual fluff?
Regarding the ability to open doors that should be locked like you did at 29:20 , I don't like it either. But it is by design on behalf of the devs, and not per mistake or oversight.
I remember it was asked once during a devstream to Matt, and the response was that while they understand that some people don't like it, they didn't want to hinder people's freedom to explore. So in his words, they want you to be able to play "like you got the masterkey to every door".
Personally I still don't like it though.
I think TSW should develop into a more customizable approach, like having an option for simplified vs realistic door controls, with simplified being as it is right now.
Would like that for multiple things though, like being able to attach brake hoses seperately, but that's besides the point.
Does the GSM-r work in this route please?.
It has basic functionality, but doesn't work very well.
Hello again thankyou replying for my comment. How do I get contact to matt peddleson pls. The reason why I want to thank him on the goblin line and also working fans on ceiling of train lovely route well detailed.
I would say via the forums or train sim community discord.
Your right you do 'murder' pronunciation of Scottish place names, Inverkeithing is pronounced Inver-keith-ing by highlighting Keith when it is pronounced Inver-keeeth-ing, and of course Glenrothes, is said Glen-roth's with heavy pronounciation of the Rothes half of the name,
But after hearing the pronouncing by the train announcement you did start to say them properly
Am I a Scotsman from Fife? no I'm not!
I'm an Englishman from Hertfordshire, it's fun though listening to your pronunciation
And yes I agree the forth bridge is very well done🙂
Every day is a school day :-) you should hear my German station pronunciation!
Should be "Forth" bridge in the description. ^_^
Thanks John, I have updated.
… would consider buying if I had faith in Rivet taking on board community comments like your own and upgrading the route to a more acceptable level … however I understand from the community that Rivet can drag their feet when it comes to polishing up an already released DLC
If you want more sound in cab - open the cab window?
The Forth Rail Bridge is found here in Scotland.

dad rail i know how to create my own train but how can u run a service like your know time & sicario
Send me a message on discord and I will try and help you out.
@@DadRail ok thx
Judging by some of these gradiants I'm seeing this route isn't all that steam friendly at most a 7 car jubilee will get a decent speed on those hills definitely going to need formation designer for flying Scotsman as 9 coaches could be a bit much
Let’s try it out on the next live stream.
@@DadRail thank you
TSW3 Route in 4 clothing
That's a good way of putting it.
Glad to see the announcements were fixed before release. However, likewise with they overground dlc, dovetail really need to give rivet a kick up the ass. It always seems to be their routes that are lacking immersion
To be fair that’s inaccurate at least rivet bother to think of immersion all to often DTG muppets parrot on about immersion yet are that incapable and inept they can’t even be bothered to do user settable destination boards and same with announcements so if anyone needs to get a grip it’s those silly sods at Chatham who need to get real NOT rivet games
@@LadySophieofHougunManor7325 please take so,em time to look at the river dlc’s…I’d rather take less immersion than bugs

One of my favourite aspects of these videos is the range of Dad_Rail expressions, which I find myself saying while watching other rail journey videos (and even in real life); such as "red ahead" or "I'll take it."
One from this video that I shall *not* be adopting however is "free for the free!" ^_^
So glad I'm not a train super fan. It lets me enjoy the game for what it is. I think the game looks fine, couldn't tell you ANYTHING about the routes or name name ONE train. It is what it is and I'm super enjoying it. Although, the dlc are WAY overpriced.
Rivet Games have already started work on adding the Cowdenbeath, Scottish Heritage and Railtour services - meaning 30-40 new services will be added in post-launch patches that they’ll get out as quickly as they can.
Also, And we will now hear announcements and track joint sounds (as I said before), and not see the low quality close up buildings in the version that releases next week on PC. Console versions may have the latest build later than release around 10am on Tuesday, due to the release process on each platform.
I am pleased that they are adding the extra services following community feedback.
The build used in this stream is the same one that is being shipped out.
Same me too I’m happy too and I can’t wait to pick this up tomorrow 😊
Yeah this route needs some work. Enjoying it on the PS5 though.
15:20 "Looking at the textures here... I'm trying not to be too critical"... Go on mate, you can do it, you know you want to, they look like crap! Never mind that, we've got working escalators, trams with no OHLE, poor tunnel lighting effects and passengers eating the scenery, all of which will surely please the blind, buy anything TSW groupie.
I think the automatic announcements will start to bug me as they sound nothing like the announcer. Also, there no chime on the real trains, just the announcement
From dalgety bay to aberdour including Aberdour station is nothing like it.
Could have added ai class 801's to Glasgow 😥😥
They barely run to Glasgow anyways
@@Danse_Macabre_125 That makes it even more lazy from Rivet... plus they still run.
LNER only operate one service to Glasgow and even then it's Glasgow Central.
@@AlvinTravels My point stands, it makes it even more lazy.
i live in kirkcsldy and travel this route regularly.in reality all perth trains stop at burntisland which was the one you drove through after aberdour... not your fault the game skipped it
And the Leven Branch as a free update too which will come out in June 2024.
That is good. I look forward to it.
@@DadRail Me too 😊
First
I agree about the texture. We have come to expect high standards for the games that we are playing, and it is important to keep those high standards. So delaying the release date by two or more weeks would give the developers a chance to add more depth in the textures; also, where you do have, in general, a busy station in real life, there should be many more people in the game. Having said that it is quite a daunting task to create these kind of games to this standard and I applaud the developers for achieving this level for us to be able to enjoy the games we like playing.
And that sad and tired announcement voice once again....
The route feels like they ran out of time to finish it properly, or they were caught out by how good the Goblin Line is, and thought they could get away with another mediocre DLC. I hope they follow through with some of the areas mentioned by the community that need addressing, but its Rivet so who knows....
That’s exactly what I said on the DTG forums, about the route feeling under cooked. It could use a few more weeks in the oven to bring it up to those standards we are expecting now on previous releases. I don’t like the whole release it now “fix it later” policy either. Rivets track record hasn’t been forthcoming with its consumers, so it will be interesting to see if they continue to support this route after the release. I’m personally holding off buying it tomorrow until I see Rivets fixes and improvements.
I enjoyed your insight on the dlc as always, it always helps with my decision on purchasing new content. Cheers 👍
A decent video - thanks.
Nice as the route may look, it's still Rivet Games so anything that needs addressing won't even be a consideration until such a time when they want to sell extra content into the route. Sadly, the only reason why I won't ever buy anything from them.

Hello love the stream. The train is good and sounds but route looks unfinished and the ballast no change in colour not good. No diesel smoke. Announcements good.
Echoing my opinions. I think I forgot to mention the lack of clag in the stream.
They’ve got Kirkcaldy station pretty much on the button
This looks absolutely horrifically bad.
Why what’s wrong with it?
@@claimediraq9715 Terrible timetable with no AI traffic. Huge parts of the map haven’t been modelled. Missing landmarks. Bad lighting and textures. Performance issues. And Rivet never fix their routes after release. So this mess is the final product.
I like this route but you are right. The lack of AI traffic makes the game boring
And the train says Perth on it. Perth is not on the fife circle?
@@davidgow986 The full route in real life goes to Perth and Dundee, however the dlc only goes as far as the Fife Circle and therefore you are only driving part of the Perth and Dundee lines.
Yeah this looks absolutely terrible, with a terrible timetable that isn’t realistic at all
One of the worst dlc i ve ever seen
Woeful. Don’t buy it!
They need rid of the announcements, too unrealistic and annoying.
I'd have preferred to have a choice. It's literally one of the only good features, but you should have the ability to turn them off for those who use SoundPad for announcements.
