the room budget: $6,000,000
6 M is still low budget and honestly the only reason The Room’s budget ballooned to 6 M is because Tommy Wiseau is a “genius” and decided to shoot the whole movie on film. Outside of that everything on the movie is really cheap.

@Jakedanl I was talking about the specific technique used, recoilless rifles are not the type of weapon you want to stand directly behind at such a short distance.
I am seriously impressed by Peter's comedic sense. He nails being over the top while keeping it funny.

This was just incredible, the boss battle was hilarious, Peter is honestly a visual genius with his modeling and rigging!
Peter is a demigod. Blending in pro-mode, then tossing on a mocap to get the material himself. He is a part of elevating Corridor Crew to the next level.
The freshblood that fuels the old souls so to say.
His sense of humor is a great addition and natural fit for their team.
That stylized explosion sequence was pretty cool. It looked like it must have used a whole host of techniques and software, so quite an achievement for one person in less than a fortnight.
The RPG being held as a pistol is the best thing ever
Okay, it’s still really goofy, but the “Boss Bird” genuinely unnerved me. I think it’s just the uncanny bulging human eyes
More to the point, those eyes get no animations either. So it almost looks like a stone faced football mascot, minus the beak articulation. 👀

When he says “we went from zero to birdemic in half a second” he wasn’t kidding. The first half of the movie is a garbage romance movie. Then, at almost the exact halfway mark, there’s a completely silent montage of random locations for a full minute. Then BAM, bird apocalypse with dive bombing plane sounds!
There's probably an amazing untapped CZcams market of just reactions to that first scene with the birds. Because that is SO much fun to watch.

I love Whitney saying she's having ptsd flashbacks, like she wasn't in Birdemic 2.
I’ve heard her say she wasn’t going to do it at first but felt bad because practically everyone else came back for it so she did it. She barely had any lines in it because she wasn’t originally going to be in it I think. I believe ultimately she and James Nguyen just didn’t get along but since there was more crew and cast for the second movie she also wasn’t really enduring as much nonsense from JN the second time around.

Oh man. I worked on this film. Straight out of college. I worked on 3 shots and got credited as the 3d animator for the entire thing. It was an experience for sure

I think the guy who made Birdemic deserves huge praise. Not because he made a good movie, which he obviously didn't, but just because he made *a* movie. Many people have dreams of doing something creative, but few people have the courage to go out there and actually make it happen. Even if the end result is really bad, being willing to follow through with a passion project and put yourself out there takes a lot of balls - more than most people have, I feel.
The fact that the shoot lasted 7(!) months and he still ended up with some kind of finished product really speaks to his tenacity.
Sure it took only 7 months to shoot, but the crazy thing is that I’ve heard that the whole movie took 7 years.
I believe he still gets props for being a distinguished alumnus at my high school.

I dug up some dirt and another vlogger revealed that james has a history of scamming people out of payment which explains the lack of crew and he scammed a vfx artist out of payment for his previous film replica. Also he allegedly harassed a woman during the casting process.

I love how they go into all the detail about how flocks of birds fly but completely forget that there usually is one or more leading birds at the front.
I'd like to see it the other way around: Take a top-edge VFX scene and re-make it so badly that it becomes cult.
Not sure if Corridor might do it. Fully capable I'm sure, but it sounds like the job of another group who wouldn't give a care how badly a job they did about it.

I'm a paramedic, I was tested once and it was simply the 15 min one at a Skilled Nursing Facility. Not been tested this whole time otherwise and just go off the assumption I always have covid.
18:25 and the next couple of beats feel so satisfying. I am laughing and impressed, classic corridor house style.
I like how the enormous eagle at the end makes an elephant rumble and crocodile hiss. It makes him sound cool and menacing, in contrast to the bird shrieks in the actual Birdemic that were (save for the stock red-tailed hawk sound) very annoying and too loud.
The fact that they ACTUALLY got Whitney to do this...holy shit
