Would you fly your DJI drone below freezing?
______
I want to be 100% transparent with my audience. This is a paid ad for Epidemic. However, I would never promote something that I don't believe in.
I have so much respect for the hard work this company does and I want to share this to my audience.
Thanks to Epidemic for sending me out to Stockholm.
Yew boy, proper job.

Great video Francis! I have heard the same horror stories to but over in the states in the winter I fly below freezing most of the time and I've never had a problem and it usually makes for great shots!
One of your best videos you made. I like the style how do you fly and combine it with music and other scene! Please go on and do more of this Kind of videos. You are a very talented guy
Excellent content mate....love your little moment of clarity even if it was a bit cheesy. Loved it buddy
Nice job Francis. Again, congrats on syncing up with Epidemic Sound...great music (use them myself). Of course I fly in the cold but so much nicer when it's warm out!
Yep 2 weeks ago we was in Lapland - 31°C with my Spark, amazing shoot no problem. Love your videos BTW!
Superb everything! I love it! Thank you Francis!
Thanks so much for the comment mate!
@@FrancisDarracott You are awesome!
Flown my air below freezing with no issue several times. Last time at -15f which is -26c. Kept batteries warm before take off, flew great over water at the Lake Michigan beach near Chicago. Fear not. Reliable drone.
Great video once again Francis.. Cheers
Love it!
Nice video again! Yes I fly below freezing all the time. Life in Canada! Usually my fingers freeze before the battery gets low LOL
Haha! True Canadian
I have flown a couple of times in below freezing temps. I like the shots of snow on the ground; beautiful to look at. It does make me nervous to do so. I don’t want to lose my Mavic Air. I will not fly if it is snowing. I have seen some videos from some youtubers who are flying in the snow and I can’t help but believe that the snow/moisture is being sucked into the body vents.
Nice Francis! Coldest I’ve ever flown in was -20 with the Spark. No issues thankfully
Nice to see that you were able to get some drone shots over Sthlm! 👍
And I can’t agree more to you’re last statement in the video; there’s this special feeling when traveling thats very addicting. Same with making videos about it that acts as small music videos summarizing the experience. So thanks for sharing!
Awesome video, one of tour best.
I’ve flown it at 7f without any issues. Batteries were kept warm prior to flight. And I made sure to give myself plenty of time to return to home.
Your Film makes me heartwarming ~!
Great video.... Inspire me to start creating videos again. Cheers
I'm Estonian but live in Sweden, near Stockholm. I have Spark and recently bought Air.
I fly with them both up until -5 celcius all the time... no worries so far.
Great video as always.
Cheers! 🍻
Another amazing video keep it going
Love your travelling stories Francis.
Thank you so much :) That means a lot
Hi Francis
Greate video and good thoice of music as always.
I have fly my Spark in 7 minus degree and the first minutes of all my batteries (6 pieces) it drop the conection to my phone and show that it stop filming and then start filming again but the filmresults looks fine and its only one hole file.
But, after a few minutes is just fly perfect and I love to fly in wintertime betwin trees and stuff.
The down side is that my fingers always get could!
Some say don't fly below zero. Others say it is ok any time if it's not raining. But let the drone heat up itself by starting it for a minute before take off. And keep the batteries in warm place ex under you pullover. Use recently charged batteries.
Sweeeeeeet! Do you by chance recommend any good LUTS for editing in post production? I just got the DJI Mavic Pro 2 and I'm excited to see how the video turns out! I'm trying to find some great LUTS for the drone footage. 😀
Love your Passion for traveling me to USA
Yes I where fyling my little m2p monster in -7-10°C and all went good :P But I had some doubts and a bit fear while flying.. Also the moisture is everything but good for the drone I think.
But now the summer is coming in europe yeah!
Nice video Francis. I love watching your content. Do you edit your own video? What software do you use? I love what you put together. I'm always watching for you next upload. Take Care.
Does you Air still ask to calibrate before every flight? Mine has never done that so maybe it got fixed in the later models (got mine Jan of this year)
Good tip to not fly in below freezing. Nice travel video plus drone footage
Thanks Chris!
I use my mavic air in minus -conditions but I let it run on the floor for a few minutes before I take it up .. most people take off straight away, get up high where it’s colder and get problems .. warm it up first on the ground 👍 in my latest vid it’s flying at -18
Stockholm looks beaaautiful!
We lovvveeed Stockholm.
Where are you in the world atm?
Last week I flew my Spark in -20. I take precautions though. I keep the drone inside, or in my coat till I'm ready to fly, and don't fly for too long. Get the shot and get back in my coat.
MINUS 20!!!!!!!!! wow!
FairPlay mate!
@@FrancisDarracott TIC...This is Canada. Like I've heard you say. You get some of the best shots when the conditions are the worst. Keep up the good work.
I recently flew mine on a ski trip, and it was -15! Luckily it didn’t just drop out of the sky, but sometimes it wouldn’t even let me take off, and quite often a small droplet of water would get caught in the gimbal mechanism, instantly freeze, and then the gimbal wouldn’t work so the footage would be shaky af 😂 tbh in the end, I got some nice footage, but the effort I put in that week to get it was insane 😂 btw I love the end of this video, a nice touch 🙏🏼
Nice video. what is the app called you mentioned with the flyzones? Cheers
Nice story!
Heeyyyy Francis nice to see you friend, freezing fly, cheers.
Thanks man
Hi Francis,
Got a question.
Since my Spark crashed in the water and I could not (fully) repair it I now have a Mavic Air as well. Lovely drone.
I was wondering, do you use the OTG cable clip in the controller or did you remove it?
Seen some comments that it might put stress on the USB connection.
Also, what do you think should be the first thing to try when you step up from the Spark to the Air?
Anyway, great footage. Seems like you're allowed to fly quite close to buildings over there. Despite the 50m still a great view.
Can't say about the Air yet but I have flown my Spark at around freezing point without problems. Maybe good to start low/not to far to let the drone heat up a bit before shooting your actual footage.
I once flew below freezing closer to 0* Fahrenheit and my Sparks motor stopped and fell out of the sky. Thank god into a snow bank. My Spark has been in snow, water, rain, etc, still survived.
Hahah! decent!
Yeah sparks are solid!
They remind me of a Nokia 3310
Will the most solid? Mavic air or spark? Thank you
I fly my spark in 10 f or -12 c for catching shots from goose and duck hunting with no issues.
Nice video chum, how funny, I was filming at Stansted when you flew back, filming night time b role for a promo
Oh decent!
What was the promo for buddy?
@@FrancisDarracott My production company, khadvancedmedia films all the H&S, Training and contractor videos for most of the UK airports, managed to fly the mavic through the inside of a FEDEX jumbo, un real
I just flew my Spark in 24 degrees and in the middle of a snow storm this week!!! Drone did ok.. my iphone battery drained faster because of the cold.
i had no problem at -10 degreeeeees freezing cold weather but no snow in the middle of Germany ;-( thanks for your video!
I flew my spark in -30 plus degree Celsius works fine. the only problem I had was my hands was freezing
-14 no problem with the air.. My friends Pro was another story.. He had the silence props on and it cracked in the air 500m up.. Lovely day though
OH wow mate, are you in Sweden? i hope you really enjoy it :D
👍👌🇬🇷
L E G E N D
nice vídeo. more 1 subscriber :)
Are you certified part 107?
Please don't fly if there is no good visibility and there is high humidity. It's very risky to crash the drone :) Trust me!
Never had the opportunity matey....
Hi
Here in Korea, you are subscribed to CZcams.

Show me many drones.
I'm sorry that I can not speak English.

Yes i fly to 3-4 minus celisus 😀😀
Brave man!
Okej kan ni svenska? Bor ni i Sverige?
-11C was the lowest temperature i flew my Spark in.
I put together some recommendations here: czcams.com/video/Uls0vJ7P5Ws/video.html
Proper Job, Mr. Darracott!
28k later, definitely not shit.
