    This difference between the Ukrainian and Russian displays of tanks and other weapons is that Russia gave those tanks to Ukraine when it invaded their country. The mere fact that Russia responded with such loud fervor to Macron saying French troops in Ukraine is not ruled out tells you all you need to know. They're petrified that Europe might come to Ukraine's aid in a direct way and destroy Russian military dreams for at least a decade. I think it almost needs to be done unconditionally. Russia must understand that their empire-building ways are no longer tolerated.

    • @InnocentiusLacrimosa
      @InnocentiusLacrimosa Před 27 dny +1

      Exactly so. Former Finnish intelligence officer M J Kari said that "Russian foreign policy is like them testing their borders with a bayonet. If the response is soft, they will keep pushing the bayonet deeper in. If the response is rock hard, they will retreat and take the bayonet away."
      Not all western politicians understand this. They talk about a "worry of escalation", "providing a way out", "defensive only". All of this russia interprets as a soft target, weakness to exploit, so they will push the bayonet deeper. Instead they need to be confronted with strength. A hard target. And then they will retreat. That is the essence of a foreign policy that russians understand and accept as it mirrors their own policies.

    I think we here in the US through our government's poor assessment of what needed to be done in Afghanistan in terms of synching with the people's needs which led to a US and coalition pullout, became hesitant to commit to any support for foreign military support, and we're only now beginning to regain our senses and confidence. This go around, we had better seize the opportunity to reform Russia when it inevitably falters, rather than squander the opportunity as we had done in the past. Never again, no more shock doctrine economics, this time we need to get it right. 🗽

    Nobody seems to be explaining this.
    GDP, or Gross Domestic Product, is the value of all the goods being produced by a country. It says nothing about where the money is coming from to pay for the production of those products, or where those products are going.

    • @terjeoseberg990
      @terjeoseberg990 Před 27 dny +6

      For example, most of the money to pay for China’s GPD is coming from foreign countries because China exports the majority of what they produce. In Europe and the United States the money comes from consumers.
      In Russia it’s currently coming from Russia’s savings because they’re barely exporting anything and the Russian consumers have no money. Basically Putin is spending Russia’s savings, and eventually this savings will run out.

    • @terjeoseberg990
      @terjeoseberg990 Před 27 dny

      Basically Russia isn’t and doesn’t need to lie about their GDP numbers. I’m pretty confident that they’re real. They just don’t indicate anything good, because it simply represents how fast Putin is burning through Russia’s savings.

    Thank you Jonathan.This has been a very informative item. May Ukraine become safer as the war progresses. The present situation in Ukraine may change now American funding has been approved. The long range ATACMS will even the playing field somewhat.A few tanks as exhibits will not bring back the lives of the men who have lost their lives in Russia or help the badly injured.
    I wish Georgia are able to get some leverage in removing the bill being passed.

    Having watched this video, in order not to offend anyone and to express an opinion on the thoughtfulness and quality of the material, which I advise everyone to watch, according to human values and ideals, people should not remain silent.
    P.s. there are a lot of letters to make the comment bigger and be perceived as one that CZcams should pay attention to and promote the video to the top of the list )))❤

    Ukraine should be able to mount a counteroffensive and take back its territory but to do this it needs the protection of air defence, such as airplanes, missiles, Patriot and other air defence systems. With sych protection Ukraine could retake Mariopol and other cities.

    If only more of the weak kneed politicians would stand up and face the aggressor with potential aggression....like Macron....then the stupid rhetoric of putin will be negated.
    Good episode..thank you. A job well done.
    If there is a risk to uk based terrorism via 5th columnists..surely the government and mod must deploy armed services in reaction to this.

    Only about 25% of the $61 billion is actually designated for providing Ukraine arms. Much of it is for replacing what we have already given, expanding our own production capacity, the costs of logistics, research and development programs, etc.

    Politicians and Corporations care far more about keeping a foothold in Russia in hopes of being able to increase their income once the war ends. They care not at all about who wins but only about increasing their personal wealth. If it were otherwise they Corporation would pulled out of Russia or minimally Politicians would have forced the Corporations out.

      Calm down. The website tab doesn’t carry much info. Considering this is the largest war in Europe since WWII and the geopolitical and genocidal implications, why is Israel Gaza on the prime time BBC News every night with veey rare Ukraine coverage. No coverage of Ukraine victories, hitting oil plants, sinking Black Sea fleet.
      BBC Newscast Oscars special didn’t mention the documentary win covering Mariupol.
      The Telegraph Ukraine The Latest podcast and verified, accurate info is shown on channels like Tochnyi, ATP Geopolitics - none of this factual info is reported on BBC.

    Horatius speaks words of encouragement, however. He says that all people will die someday, and a man cannot die better than ''facing fearful odds'' for their temples and their father's ashes and to save nursing mothers, their wives, and the holy maidens from ruin at the hands of Sextus.
    Today will call it evil.

    The West and the free world seem to be slow in comprehending the true nature of current events. Much of this delay appears to stem from deficiencies in the educational system, which fails to impart a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of democracy and instill an appreciation for its values. Additionally, there is a need to educate students about the existence of nefarious regimes and forces that seek to undermine democracy due to viewing it as a direct challenge to their authoritarian rule. It is my sincere belief that the shortcomings of the educational system contribute significantly to the challenges we face today.

    Hungary has not met the NATO guideline of spending 2% of its GDP on defense until recently. In 2023, Hungary projected that it would reach the NATO guideline ahead of its 2024 pledge. This commitment was reiterated by the Hungarian government and officials throughout the year, indicating Hungary's ongoing efforts to fulfill its NATO obligations...
