    I spent 5 weeks in Soviet Rumania in the seventies. The family I was staying with (in a wooden house with outdoor loo and oven) in the suburbs of Bucharest, explained how corruption was an integral part of soviet administration. Getting rid of corruption is almost impossible because the lawmakers are the ones who most benefit from it. When money determines your position, very obviously, merit and competence are rare, almost inexistent.

    • @martavdz4972
      @martavdz4972 Před 23 dny

      There´s no "Soviet Romania", Romania was at least nominally independent. Also, a wooden house with an outdoor loo was a minority, not a common thing in the Warsaw Pact countries. Agreed on the corruption, though.

    • @shermoore1693
      @shermoore1693 Před 22 dny

      @@martavdz4972 By 'Soviet Romania' I meant Romania as part of the Soviet Union. Many young people don't know which countries were part of the USSR. From what I saw small wooden houses (1 central room + one more room to the left and one to the right) and outdoor loo and oven and small yard surrounding, were easily the majority. The only large, brick houses belonged to government/military officials and the important ones (mostly military people) had villas in beautiful avenues. When I sat down on the grass in a beautiful park, the police arrived to fine me and immediately about 20 people appeared and jeered at the police, defending me. They hated the police. The family of 5 that I was staying with asked me to try to get them out of Romania. I was so happy for them when, years later, I watched Ceausescu being kicked out.

      Yes this is why the U.S. never actually ends tax loopholes for the elites so they’re never actually endangered.
      If we ever got rid of all taxes and all business entities and had only one business entity and a flat 20% tax on business and a flat 20% tax on individuals that would endanger the elites that thrive on money printing and theft by stealing purchasing power.

Every faction tries to dominate the other faction and want's to monopolize the leader. This is a permanent source of instability and insecurity, for the top echelon as well as for the whole system.

    Jonathan, the boiling frog, I hope you find my comment, and find time to read this:
    Off subject, I know, but I want everyone to realise what is going on in the Baltic right now. Also, please understand that YT is giving me a lot of grief, so I use French to overcome their censors. I know what is publicly visible, and what is not, because I monitor my comments history. This comment is an amalgam of pervious posts.
    The Baltic status. Russia is not just making a provocation, or just a land grab, it is strategic. Those islands Russia is trying to seize near to Finland and Estonia should have a NATO military presence, (now!!!) on these islands to prevent Russian occupation. People are not aware just how strategic these islands are. These islands will allow the blockade of St Petersburg. This is what Russia is afraid of, and the West needs to pre-empt this occupation move by the Russians.
    Now some sarcasm....
    Then Kaliningrad does not belong to Russia.
    I think the Kaliningrad enclave, should be declared an independent country, and we'll call it "East Prussia" provided the people are willing, but I suppose such a task as asking the people is impossible, This would be more inline with the historical claims over territory that Putin makes. (This is sarcasm with a strong flavour of truth thrown in) Maybe such counter-propaganda could reach the ears of this enclave.
    I hope people will take at least two things from this.
    1. Military strategy.
    2. The need for counter-propaganda
    I have been advocating serious action in certain circumstances, but fucking YT will not allow this, it is an insane situation seriously hampering awareness of this fucking stupid war.
    OK, I know using French language will confuse YT censors. I apologise that you will need Google Translate to read some of my comments.
    When we read "retourneront" in the lost in translalation version, I originally said "scuttling back", and I prefer this idea, lol

      Great idea for compulsory military service, but should be from 14-19, and combined with secondary and vocational education. Everyone should leave this service literate, numerate, and independent, with a bank account, a driving licence, enter work with a trade or vocational qualifications or be able to go on to tertiary education for professionals and specialists. Also, the currently lacking concept of respect and self-control, and the ability to make healthy life-style choices, when the population's general fitness and health outlook is increasingly poor. In times when defence suddenly seems to be necessary again, we do not need to have to conscript and train willing or unwilling civilians, for a incipient conflict, as we did twice last century.

Most people are not that worthy of respect but you’re saying they must obey someone or other that you don’t even know yourself for the hell of it. This is an excellent, informative presentation of complex, foreign to me, political structures using violent and other coercive means of control. In the context of Russian history and cultural memes. Less abstract; you are a fine communicator. One remarkable achievement: You reveal the emotional subtext affecting complex human reactions to threats. An example: Connects the dots among poisonings of individuals as well as poisoning attacks on general public. An example of evocations of fears and panics to salt general feelings of security with internal and external threats, which are underlined by these difficult to prove but suspected random acts of violence. Combine this with wild claims designed to create cognitive chaos and confusion, reinforcing at best public uneasiness and nervousness.

    This is what could make reform possible in Russia: Envision a revolutionary electoral system called Proxy Democracy. In this system, political parties are absent, and all candidates run as independents. Each voter receives a number of votes equal to the number of candidates and all the candidates get elected, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard. Elections take place yearly and ideally align globally to encourage collaboration. Participating nations cooperate closely, nearly forming a unified governing entity while maintaining their sovereignty.
    This innovative approach could transform societies like Israel, the US, the UK, and many European countries, where the current "democracy" often masks plutocratic governance. With Proxy Democracy, we could see an end to conflict as everyone's voice would be heard and valued. While not flawless, it would significantly improve upon our current democratic systems.

      What about activity behind the scenes? Who will decide which people can stand? How would decisions ever be made?

    • @robertcircleone
      @robertcircleone Před 25 dny

      @@SarahMould Thank you for your question. While this is still a work in progress I have a strong feeling that people won't be fighting each other to serve. There might be too few or too many candidates in any given constituency in any particular year but I think these things can be accommodated. Essentially, anyone can stand in any slot but not necessarily in their chosen constituency. In the 2019 general election in the UK, 5.1 candidates on average stood for election per constituency. I think we can count on double that since two things put the average person off from standing, the cost and the slim chance of winning. Decisions will be made by the delegates, the proxies voting with the votes allocated to them by the voters. Deciding on the slots might be a challenge. Right left and centre doesn't quite cut it. Power needs to be spread thinly to avoid a new elite forming. Ten or more distinct slots might be required. What we have at present is not fit for purpose. It isn't democracy. except in name. we need real democracy that cannot descend into autocracy. Make autocrats history.
