"If you know me, you know I love a good map" - JackSucksAtGeography, probably
Archery was declared Bhutan's national sport in 1971, which was the same year they joined the United Nations. And every village has a field for archery. So it definitely checks out. It also makes sense historically. Bhutan is a very mountainous country, so bow and arrow is a means of survival when you're hunting and battling in war (against Tibetans and the British) in the mountains. They consider it more than just a sport, but a martial art.
-DrewDurnil
There's also just not that much flat ground for sports fields in Bhutan, as evidenced by the mountain map.
Fuck its Kim Jong Un
“why the fuck are the british over there” is a sentence i find myself saying a lot…

There's a historical reason why uniforms are not used in schools in Germany. Something linked to a certain movement in the 1940s that kind of ruined the image of children in identical outfits.
but its not prohibited by government?
@@hattarapilvi so?
@@snifferrr it was a question and not a statement, i thought
Ruined?? Made it better
In fairness, putting children (or adults for that matter) in identical outfits is just a terrible idea in general. It normalizes normality, conformism, going along with whatever and not questioning the established order, the thing all your peers are doing; glorifies the act of erasing one's own judgment, ideas, feelings and identity in favor of what one _thinks_ everyone else likes, what one has been _told_ the government or the "great leader" wants... A certain line of baseball hats with a misleading slogan spring to mind.
George not understanding the Catholic and Protestant toaster debate is hilarious to me
I was like 👀👀😅
Felt like it should be one of them that at the end goes “this is not about toasters” with ominous music
@@kahuna_0076 exactly
Explain I do not get it either
@@Nicnic-pv8po usually protestants put there toaster in the cupboard and Catholics don't
I would love to hear the full story of George and the 2 massive russians
The Japanese stereotypes map is one of the best things I've seen all year, "No fat people", "Stupid people", "Weak"
Yoghurt
@@stickynotemetagaming Yea actually this makes sense as one of our most common yogurts says "Bulgarian" in large font on the front. Don't ask me why I don't know
“Kills Jews” for the German one ouch
I was looking into travelling to the UK recently from Australia and it says on our government website to exercise high degree of caution due to the threat of terrorism
About a week later had a bizarre dream about filming an episode of top gear with jeremy clarkson and richard hammond and suddenly we were being bombed in a supermarket carpark
Sounds like an average day in the uk
georges genuine love for maps is so pure
George you need to do the Jetpunk "Countries of the World" quiz, takes like 15 minutes and it's actually really difficult the first few times
@@user-kc3fw9gm2j i’ve gotten countries down pat, usually maybe struggling to get the last 2 countries in africa (gotta learn the maps next!), countries + territories and capitals are gonna be a hard one but i’m gonna get there eventually 🫶
as a basic french student, yes saying numbers in french is THAT painful.
it isn't really everyone does it without thinking just like in english
that's why I prefer how the Swiss say it. IIRC, they use "octante", "septante" etc instead of "quatre-vingts", "soixante-dix" etc
I remember having to learn French in school and the numbers were so weird to me… eighty is four twenties???
Can confirm I took two years of French and saying large numbers is hell in that language
Glad George is a fellow map enjoyer
The japanese stereotypes of europe are actually something
Yes more map videos, I too love maps. Particularly those of Europe in the 1940s
💀
yes maps videos lets get it
Keeping your toaster in the cupboard is actually quite a divisive topic in Ireland
Sounds like an effort to get it out and plug it on every time.
I get mad when the switch on the plug socket is turned off
Abraham Lincoln - "Four score and seven years ago..."
GeorgeM - "What? Why are you making things so complicated?!"
Wow that is interesting
Wow that is interesting
wow this was interesting
Whoa this was interesting
2:00 doesn't even mention how Sweden's most common language to learn is Swedish 😂
possibly could be people moving/living/working in the country and not speaking the language?
I love at 3:45 in the petty argument map, Switzerland just sits out and shakes its head at all the peasant squabbling, chef's kiss.
Wow George thanks for another lovely video well done
We need James back on these
was waiting for another one of these videos!
as someone from northern ireland i'm having a wee giggle about george not knowing what it meant by "whether you keep your toaster in the cupboard or not"
nice throwback to my favourite series with george and jimbo
I want some Christmas soda? what's that? it sound magical.
I am Northern German/Danish. This is very accurate. If a meal isn't explicitly planned you will starve in the gutter. If you visit and it is not an obvious meal invitation (e.g. 12:30pm or 6-7pm) then you are reasonably expected as an adult to have fed yourself adequately hours earlier. Even my cousin invited me over at 12pm only to boot me out at 1 and say he had lunch reservations (with his gf) thus my cue to bugger off. It is not meant in a miserly way, it is more for health and respect for your own eating cycle. That way you don't over eat or ruin your appetite (your mum may have dinner organised afterwards for example).
The opposite is true of my Italian aunt (my uncle married an Italian, I'm not Italian). She cooks buckets of food and force feeds me until I am hyperglycaemic.
I think the temperature one is mainly to do with mountains. Hence why the UK and places like Belgium and Netherlands didn’t have as high extremes. But also I think large land masses can create extreme colds due to air flows and large masses of cold air. I think it can work the same way for extremes of heat like heat waves as well. Although I’m not an expert I could be talking rubbish. But on average the UK is still pretty cold 😂
The sea also has a very strong warming effect as it retains heat in the winter, the uk (being an island) and other coastal countries are generally warmer in winter because of it
That's probably why Italy was so cold, with the Alps, and so was Switzerland, and Russia has both mountains and Siberia
As a Norwegian, I can confirm that the Christmas soda war is a big one. Many people have fell to that war
love your videos gogy wogy
i really enjoyed the facecam covering australia and nz in all these maps
george you should make a website dedicated to maps and what your favourite ones are
the map videos are back notify everyone!!
i wish george had storytimes he comes out with the most random shit in the last minute of a video
"Who eats dinner at 4pm", old people - lol
This video further reinforces that George Memeulous does not know what a census is 💀
yesssss map videos are back
Yesss map videos
Japan's stereotype of Germany... 😳
"i dont know what this means because French"
*literally translated 92 to french*
In French 70 is 60 10 (soixante-dix), 80 is 4 20 (quatre-vignt) and 90 is 4 20 10 (quatre-vignt-dix) the words for these numbers exist in French, sepante, huitante and nonante but they're almost never used.
I love you memeulous
3:57 let's go George w prounounciation
For 92 in french it pretty much translates to “4 20’s and 12”
sick vid george
YES YES I LOVE MAPS!!!!
3:58 Every true norwegian knows red is the answer, because red is the colour of christmas
I love maps 🙏💯
RED CHRISTMAS SODA IS THE PUREST, FINEST AND THE MOST DELICIOUS CHRISTMAS SODA IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, MULTIVERSE AND PROBABLY THE METAVERSE
gotta love how the maps are on screen for a fraction of a second until editor has to do a zoomer edit
In Norway we have a seasonal drink called "Julebrus" (christmassoda) its quite good but one is red and one is brown (its red btw)
6:17 It's actually just like saying 'Four Twenty Twelve' Because 80 in french is 'Four Twenty' and 'Twelve' is just saying its 80 + 12
It's the same thing for the 70s, just a bit less complicated because there's no 4*20 action going on.
For example 74 is 'Soixante-Quatorze' Soixante meaning 60 and Quatorze meaning 14, 60+14.
and as for 6:23, in danish, the 90s are said 'halvfems', 'halvfem' meaning 'half to five' aka (5-0.5) and the s meaning to times it by 20.
For 92, it is said 'tooghalvfems' halvfems meaning (5-0.5)*20 and 'toog', 'to' meaning 'two' and 'og' meaning 'and'.
With that known, you can see it says 'two and half to five times twenty' aka 2+(5-0.5)*20)
In Bhutan, most people actually live in valleys or sides of mountains.
as someone from colorado, i’m glad george didn’t google what rocky mountain oysters are
or lamb fries for oklahoma
The fact Wales was forgotten about on the stereotypes map is kinda stereotypically Welsh
Can u do a map video with jacksucksatlife.you might have done it already but it would be fun to see
from what I understand about the toaster debate in Ireland it is common for Protestants to put the toaster away in a cupboard when not in use whereas Catholics are more likely to keep it out on the counter at all times
i eat my dinner at various times it depends on the days im at work, sunday i eat my dinner at like 8 because i have a big brunch / lunch meal at work about 11am , if i work mornings and finish at 3 i eat a massive meal at work and my dinner at roughly 6 , if i start at 3 or 5pm on weekdays i eat at a nearby fast food place before i start work so about either 1pm or 3:30pm
As someone who took French, the “90” thing is actually accurate (well its a bit more like “2 forties plus 10 (or 11, 12, etc))
YESSSS MAPSSSSS
maps without james is like milk without vodka
"I'm overthinking it, he's just clearly a very popular guy" exactly, comrade. NEVER question me. My people love me, women run to hug me, because I am modernizing the country and not backing down. People will claim I won because we're a one-party state, but that's not true. Besides the Workers' Party of Korea, there are also the Korean Social Democratic Party, Chondoist Chongu Party (Chondoism is a Korean pantheistic religion), and the Chongryon (an organization for Koreans affiliated with the DPRK living in Japan). It's just they're all in the same alliance, the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Fatherland
As a Brit who moved to Canada 5 months ago, I can confirm Canada is a great choice of country to move to
George, green and blue weren't distinct colours in a great many countries until fairly recently. Some archaeological evidence suggests the human eye couldn't discern the two until only a couple thousand years ago.
Leaving your moving boxes in the background to claim the cost back as a business expense 😂
george freaking out over french and danish counting is so understandable
George got mad box tv setup fr
3:10 this yogurt thing actually makes sense because in Japan, one of our most common yogurt brands is called "Bulgarian" I don't know why
Because Yogurt originated in Bulgary, IIRC. In spanish we call the bacteria you add to milk in order to make yogurt "Bulgarians"
@@JHenry-nz7hy That is kind of adorable 😆
@@JHenry-nz7hy yogurt is as old as human civilisation in mesopotamia
@@sigstenbockgard8080 Ah, my bad. I didn't remember correctly. But the thing about "bulgarians" is mostly right, the bacteria used to ferment yogurt is called Lactobacillus Bulgaricus and was discovered in Bulgary
the big dog at it again
2:48 "cannot eat potatoes" now what the hell is up with that lol
MAPS MAPS MAPS!! MAP SERIES REVIVED THANK YOU MR GEORGE MEMEULOUS
i live in the american south, alligator is actually AMAZING. theres this place in new orleans called the vampire cafe that has an alligator dish, and its one of the best things ive ever eaten. rattlesnake is similar, but a lot harder to cook properly, 9/10 the meat is too tough to actually eat, but the flavor itself is good. raccoon is also surprisingly good, but i was really bummed out because raccoons are super cute v.v
6:01 France saying 92 as “4 x 20 + 12” is no different than Early Modern English saying “four score and twelve”.
2:50 lmao "stupid people" for poland
Yes the Christmas soda is very important here in Norway. In my opinion the brown is best, but my family thinks the red is best. This is never going to end there will always be someone that prefers the other. I stand with brown. If your Norwegian what are you standing for?
red. brown is for when there is no red left, still good tho
definitely brown, red tastes like cheap candy
@@sweetkittencandygirl :(
Pretty cool

@7:00 "Sounds better than most British food". Okay George, enjoy that 'Slugbuger' then with a side of 'Soup Beans'.
I LOVE MAP
George should buy the lego world map
i think “sushiritto” is just how australia does sushi
3:51 it’s because people say that catholics keep the toaster on the counter and protestants keep the toaster in the cupboard
I'm glad George decided to review some lovely maps again thanks bossman
A butter burger is just like a normal burger
French counting system: _Already demonstrably pants-on-head mentally impaired levels of inconvenient nonsense_
_Danish_ counting system: "Hold my beer"
when it comes to sandwidges the meat should be on the bottom, always, because of gravity, meat has juices, and because of that you dont want the meat juice esentially dripping onto your other ingredients, so you put it on the buttom so the meat juice just soaks into the bread,
they're all going into your mouth at the same time anyway?
The UKs weather feels colder because we are very exposed to high winds
Sounds like a JackSucksAtGeography type video.
I wish someone would love me as much as George loves maps 😂😂
@@heyguys4571 I have not been waiting
Scrapple is a yucky meat shaped loaf that wants to act like spam. My aunt and I nicknamed it crapple because it’s not good. 😂
Rocky mountain oysters Is the best food!
Has George seen the map men video of where they try to flatten a globe
The map series has returned!!!
