8:00 classic Jack misunderstanding. The second slide showed the percentage of people that thought the colonies were better off due to colonisation, not the occupying country
Which is such an impossible question to answer, I don’t know how anyone could confidently say yes or no.
i definitly think it helped development.
@@laurenceharakis nah the british took 45 trillion dollars out of India... definitely in that case it did not help... famines killed millions of people... there were massacres... just wish they taught a less biased version of history in the UK

Yeah, India might have roads now but it’s also in a worse off position for their own citizens than it would have been had the British just left them the fuck alone lol. And also the arbitrary border between Pakistan and India drawn by the British has resulted in a STILL ONGOING war between the countries.
The most common family name is "Wang." The most common given name is "Muhammad." But you never meet anyone named Muhammad Wang.
That’s because the name Wang is Asian and Muhammad is Middle Eastern
@@jluby09 I obviously know that, but it doesn't mean there can't be any given the dominance of each name. You would think you'd come across one at least once, especially with the desire of Asian immigrant parents wanting to give their newborns "American" first names.

Muhammad Wang would be weird because Wang in Malaysia is Money but Wang can also be called Duit in Malay

8:48 I believe the reason why France is shown as having so many more venomous animal species than the rest of Europe is because its overseas departments are included. Most of the venomous animals in France are probably only found in, say, French Guiana. Mainland France probably doesn't have any more venomous animals than its neighbours.
a bit late, but in France we are told since childhood to be carefull in tall grass because of venomous snakes, and check insects bites and all. As a French person I was more surprised that Spain was green.

1:17 Jack: *pointing out how the UK a flag looks a bit weird*
Also Jack: *completely misses the fact that they made Northern Ireland part of Ireland*
it’s correct though
@@WooffzTheCoon No, northern ireland is occupied by the UK.
@@WooffzTheCoon Ireland is one nation, one people, illegally occupied by the UK. Zaporizhzhia is part of Ukraine the same way Northern Ireland is part of Ireland.
@@ASocialistTransGirl Have you ever been to Northern Ireland? It isn't occupied. As for "one people" that's sort of the whole point of the six counties remaining in the UK. Demographics. He's done it for Flags I find...
Not maps I find. I think he's just reusing the "flags I find..." Words
Fun fact, Indonesians don’t really have or use last name! We mostly use one word name and Sari is one of the most common names. Sari’s name would just be Sari, no middle name or last name, just Sari.
But for some regions, like Bali, they put their family name at the front unlike some places that use (name) (family name), those places use (family name) (name) which I found very interesting.
Hi Jack, as a Jew myself the reason Judaism is still one of the big five religions is because it was the first monotheistic religion; meaning the first religion to believe there is only one god. Both Christianity and Islam branched off Judaism (Jesus was Jewish btw). There aren’t many Jews left because it’s a bloodline religion and most of us have been killed off
Very nice info thank you! Might use this for our new CLE lesson but who knows😊

8:10 the uk was in a good financial position because it exploited its colonies, the question is whether or not the colonies themselves were better off because they were colonized and the answer is an easy no if you know anything about british history. The uk profited off their suffering.

Just by the drawing of Castle Rising (that I'd never seen before) I could tell it was built by Normans x)

1:51 American here, not sure if you were wondering about the odds of the presidents being born in Massachusetts, or just mostly the east in general, but I have an answer for the latter. The VAST majority of Americans live on the east half of the U.S.A., so statistically more people there will raise the chances of a potential president. Sorry if this was obvious and unnecessary, but I hope it helped!
Also, two of the Massachusetts presidents were father and son, so it makes sense that they’d be born in the same place
the way jack says gonzalez hurts
7:40 In Belgium we have a village named "Mon idée" which litterally means "My Idea"
1:50 for the American presidents, in that county contains Harvard University which 3 out of the 4 presidents from there attended (the other attended Yale, another ivy league college) I think being from this area probably is most beneficial for wanting to be a future president having access to better education

The reason that many presidents were from Massachusetts is because, when the us was first founded that was part of the 13 colonies, so the odd of 1/13 is way larger that’s 1/50
the around 4000 spanic and portuguesse words with an arabic origin comes from a time in the early middle ages when almost all of the iberian peninsula was conquered by an arabic califate. From then, through almost 800 years (711-1492), the peninsula was at war between the christian kingdoms in the north, and the islamic conquered territories in the south. With such a long time to brew, it's not a surprise that we have so many arabianborn words in Spain and Portugal.

The reason most presidents were born towards the east is because for about 60-80 years worth of presidents, the west wasn't a thing, and then for the next 50+, the West was essentially a bunch of badlands. Not many presidents coming from there.
The reason there are 4 from the same area in Massachusetts is because 2 of them were related and for the ones born in the last 100 years, their families were there cause they're rich.
