Just started watching your videos. I just want to make a point that when you’re bleeding the brakes you do not bleed the air out but leaving the bleeder screw open… every time you release the brake you’re allowing air into the system.. you need to pump and hold tension on the lever and then release bleeder and don’t let off the lever until you tighten the bleeder back up.. the front brake should not touch the grip as it still has air in the system..
Yeah I'm afraid I'd pay $800 all day every day for a nice running bike like that. Heck of a deal. As usual great content.
yeah he's 800 into the trade bike, but it's a 500$ bike with 300$ worth of pieces and 1000$ worth of expertise and labor ahahah, im doing similar to his stuff with old dirtbike and yeah, you wouldnt get that bike for 800$ cash, all im sayin!
I almost got a mint 1985 cr125r off marketplace for $800 yesterday… just missed out was second to message and sold as I was about to leave to see it
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
he didnt pay 800€ the trade he did cost him 800$ but im curious what he traded he didnt tell
That bike is worth more than 800. It's worth 1,500 to 1,800 easy.
I must have seen well over a hundred basket cases…laying in yards and garages…the most amazing thing about your channel? How you aren’t afraid to buy the parts needed to avoid another basket case…people have a lot of good intentions, you act out yours…keep up the content…
Thanks for watching, and for your comment! It means a lot!
Tip: An easy way to pop those oil filters out is to get a pair of needle nose, stick them in the hole, and then open them up so they press against the inside of the hole, then just pull it out.
I’ve got an 07 Kx250f, they definitely have an attitude when it comes to starting.
Wow what size jetting is Vinny running he sure is fast, and no back fire 😜
Thanks for watching! Vinnie is extremely fast! I can hardly keep up with him!
The motorcycle gods blessed you with this bike in celebration of reaching 300,000 subscribers. Keep up the good work Joe and Vinny.
Thanks for your support, and for watching! I appreciate it!
Yup that 2006-2007 - I owned one and raced it for ears, they are rock solid aside form the crappy valves, get some Kibble White titaniums and your sorted.. From 2008 they got DFi (digital fuel injection) They were kinda janky. Nice looking machine.
I had this same luck in 2018 when I got a 2005 Crf250r for $950. They thought it was blown, it was only one tooth off timing and I’m still riding that bike today.
my ignition and crank timing dont match up can you help?
Suspension's on that thing need some love.
hi vintage watching this video reminds me of my brother who passed away on his kx250f, your bikes looks the exact same as his does, i keeping thinking of him, great video and great work, love watching your vids keep it up i have learned alot and i dont even work on bikes 😂
😢Sorry for your loss. Recently reminded of a Dr. Seuss quote "Don't cry because it is over, Smile because it happened."
I am sorry to hear about your brother. Thanks so much for watching the videos! I greatly appreciate it!
Definitely shouldn’t pump the brakes with the bleeder open
Thanks for the suggestion!
Nice now Vinny has to ride it
get yourself a ultra sonic cleaner with carb cleaner in it. Some q-tips and aluminum polish work wonders on the needle and seat. You wont regret it. When you bleed brakes you either vacuum the fluid through the bleeder, or you push the lever with the bleeder open then let it up with the bleeder closed. Just pumping the brake with the bleeder open will draw air back into the caliper.
The look on your face when it started on first kick was priceless! Good for you man!
But it didn't start on the first kick🤷 he kicked it several times
My guess at 11 min. Carb clean. Valve shim. Fluids. Brake bleed. Good to go.
Vinnie is going to be a Super Dog, and a Cardio Monster with all that running chasing those bikes and ATV's all his life. I use the Cratex rubberized abrasives on a 1/8" mandrel to clean and polish float seats. The cylindrical ones polish the barrel of the seat, and a conical one will dress where the needle fits, like lapping a valve. Those things are awesome for that kind of work. Also used for porting and polishing, with different grits. They are VERY pricey though.
Till he gets hit lol 😊then he will be flatten
Vinnie loves chasing the machines! He definitely is Super Dog! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this comment im definitely needing those cratex!
When you realize the compression release is a hot start
A suggestion for getting the float needle out use air instead of needle nose. Less risk of damage
Thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate it!
@@2vintage i do a lot of these myself just not with a camera. but i enjoy watching your channel and the unique toys you find to play with
I might have missed it, but I'm assuming you traded the DR650 for it? That is definitely a stock silencer with just an FMF sticker on it. Hopefully, you will do another day in the life vlog, maybe show some more fishing. Thank you for the great content multiple times a week.
Thanks for watching! I greatly appreciate it!
Vinny needs his own segment
star of the show
🤔 Welcome to the 2Vinny channel
I would like to see Vinny going for rides.
He'd look good on a sidecar I recon 😂
@@kylereece575 Ha ha. Yes he would look good on a sidecar with a little helmet and goggles :-)
I love how Vinnie made air as he followed you over the little jump.
He is quite a little dude! Thanks for watching!
For the float needle and seat, use toothpaste and a qtip to polish seat. Good deal man.
Mate, I truly love your videos. Real world problem solving. Gratitude from Australia!
What a great deal! It’s great watching Vinny chasing behind you while you were test riding. Amazing he isn’t scared of the sounds of the bikes when you fire them up. 👍🙂
Vinnie loves to chase the machines! He is pretty fearless! Thanks for watching!
makes me happy to see you put the master link clip in the correct direction. i see some other channels put it the wrong way and it makes me anxious every time hahaha
Lucky for you. We got to see again what luck looks like. We viewers didn’t have to think much. Not sure I would have traded when it was said to run but didn’t. Congratulations on your knowledge.
picked up an 09 kx250f few months back non running. their bad for having valve troubles. had to install new valves and shims to get mine back up and running. great bikes though.
hope everyone has a good weekend 🏍
Here's a great tech tip I learned from watching the Mustie1 CZcams channel. When you need to clean the float needle seat, take a Q-tip and put it in a drill. Then run it in the float needle opening with a little carb cleaner. It will polish the needle seat as it's cleaning the passage. He would cut the Q-tips in half so you'd get 2 uses out of each one. Keep up the great content. Congrats on your success and the acquisition of the new lot.
A dab of toothpaste gets 'em gleaming!
No spark plug or compression test needed. Easy fix. Great job
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
love the videos. My brother and I do the same thing, but not to the extent in which you do. One of the best tools I've invested in was a nice ultra sonic cleaner. Really helps removing crud/rust/grim from any and all parts. Also nice for those extra grimey carbs. It is a time saver for the dirty ones. Keep up the great work, you are inspiring a new gear head generation.
Thanks for watching! It is awesome that you and your brother are into fixing up machines too!
I miss the digital speed odometer, shots when testing.
Good trade deal on that bike! Great job getting it running. This channel makes me want to start doing bikes again.
Thanks again and great content.
I really enjoy your channel I just stumbled on to it and I was intrigued with all the bikes you have worked on. I was doing old 70’s era Hondas for awhile.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
How do you find these crazy good deals!!!
Great deal and Vinny got his exercise.
Love this channel, Thanks for all the great and informative content!
We love it bud, very informative content. Keep em coming
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Little dog running as fast as he can, awesome exercise.
🤣Somebody is going to be tired tonite, not sure if it is Vinny or Joe
Vinnie is extremely fast! It is hard to keep up with him!
I always thought that a dog should be exercised constantly because that's what's good for them, same as adults. To see a dog enjoy running so much at is beautiful and if I was a little puppy dog like Vinnie I'd want to run .
The Vin man is quick AF 😂 another great video tks Joe I've learned so much my confidence is way up
Thanks again Joe for great video! SO glad that thing started for you. ANOTHER thing: I want to personally thank you for your character, you obviously love your wife and I've never heard you use bad language, and that means a lot to me as a Christian & a pastor of a church (Boise ,ID area) My son and I have bought and rebuilt dirt bikes since he was little, and since I was a kid. So THANK YOU for putting out great, clean videos. I appreciate what you do! Keep it up.
GOBBBLESSS
Thank you for your comment! I appreciate it very much! I feel extremely blessed to be able to do what I love each day. I appreciate you watching the videos! It is great that you and your son share that hobby, and can make memories together! God bless, and have a great week!
@@2vintage The TTR125 video- so sad! Here's the GOOD news! We just bought one heavily abused and not running, got it running, discovered 2nd gear has a missing tooth- never split a TTR case before, so your video is going to help me out! Very familiar with CR & YZ250's, but never a TTR : )
Vinny likes the buggy man you gotta bring it back out
Hey Joe, just wanted to say. When you removed the OIL cap for the filter, there should be a spring on the middle that holds and pushes the filter in, it appears that it was missing when you removed the cap at 16:00
Ya I seen that too I wonder if you actually need that spring
Thanks for the observation! I appreciate it! I will check it out!
Awesome show, mate. I always enjoy watching and learning greeting from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks for watching! I greatly appreciate it!
you can also use an old float needle then you put a little valve polishing paste on the tip,
and then with a thin tube over the end of the needle and so you can clean the seat of the float needle
Will be much the same as the rmz250 2005
"It's over here"!! Hahahahaha . That dog is priceless .
Vinnie has quite a personality! He is a great dog!
@@2vintage Vinnie has his own agenda .
Vinny!😊 Great video. Nice bike! Score.
Loving the videos, great enthusiasm, problem solving and im learning from you. A little tip though...that air noise you think is coming out is actually air going in. Bleeding brakes is not as simple as undoing the nipple and pulling the lever a few times. There is a procedure that needs to be followed and there is more than one way to skin a cat. The way I do it is, put a tube and botle over the nipple then undo the nipple and pull the lever, when you have the lever fully depressed tighten the nipple and repeat till you get a firm lever. Also tap the caliper if you are struggling to get a firm lever. but like i said my way is not the only way. Subbed!
You should invest in an ultrasonic cleaner for carbs and dirty parts they save all the hassle and work really well. Good content as usual 👍👍
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate it!
Great find man!! Keep it around. Great vid!
Just a quick tip , back the chain adjusters all the way into the swingarm before adjusting or taking links out of the chain , surely you could have taken more links out . Great mechanic , keep up with the vids. Watching from the UK
Just a quick tip, if you have to remove links, the chain has stretched and needs replaced.
@@AL4N.Just a quick tip , you have to remove links when you buy a new chain , duh , pay attention
@@Matthew-wn8oq you said when you buy new chain. We are talking about taking links out of old chain. Pay attention. Schmuck
Very cool bike man...awesome that it wasn't blown!. That dr 650 is my favorite tho....I want one of those to ride to work every day...
Love when a bike can be fixed and running beautiful with basic maintenance, just shows if u look after it it’ll look after you and when u save it it’ll quite literally save your life
Another good job Bud, very nice. I would have moved the axle back to zero before cutting a shorter chain though to get more chain tension option in the future.
You would think that is basic knowledge. We can all learn from each other though
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Watching on break lol cant miss this video I have that bike
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Great bikes I have an 09 and I have owned alot of bikes but I love this bike the most.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Great video as always...and Vinny just loves the chase.
Joe, I started wanting a few of your videos and was hooked, I sub-ed right away, and I love what you do, one question I never see you use an ultra-sound cleaner for your carbs I would think that would be my go-to for cleaning all carbs.
definitely lucked out on this one 😂😂
Yeah I couldn't believe it haha
@@2vintage joe I have a susuki jr50 my nephews bike his dad passed away last just today is actually his b day mines tomorrow anyway the clutch or tranny is stuck in it I would love to get it fixed for him I've never worked on a dirt bike before I'm sure I could probably fix it just probably alot of moving parts in there I do more quads n minibikes n go karts stuff like that I want it done right for him something you would be interested in? Great video man
Thats pretty much the same engine as my 08 rmz250. Thanks for the content Joe, it's helped me alot.
Love this channel, That little Vinny dog is so cute chasing after you.
Enjoy watching your videos, we don’t quite get the bargains you do here in the uk! Only thing that’s grates me is someone like yourself with plenty of knowledge surely knows that starting it from cold and going of like that is going to do some harm sooner or later on a 4stroke! Keep up the good work, just let them warm up abit more though😉😂
Learned a lot from your content. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it! I am glad that you enjoy it!
Just so you know, there’s supposed to be a spring on the inside of that oil filter cap to hold tension on the filter
Vinnie loved chasing alongside the bike. Great video.
Sometimes I feel like I am chasing him, he is so fast! Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
I love how vinny is as fast as the dirt bike in 1st or 2nd
Vinnie is extremely fast! It is fun watching him race the machines! It is challenging to keep up with him! He is so fast!
Putting a hose on the bleed nipple that runs into a bottle for old brake fluid is a much cleaner way to bleed brakes and reduces the chance of getting fluid on your pads, also crack open the bleed nipple when the brake is under pressure. This makes purging air much easier.
Awesome trade my friend!!🇺🇸💫⭐️😊Hoosier Wing
Great video as always
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Damn thats a steal
this is about your skid steer=you can buy a tooth bar that bolts onto the bucket. it will make digging a lot easier.
also when you build a track DO NOT take the dirt from the track , it will leave low spots that will fill with water and make the track muddy. a good piece of advice is find a place away from the track for the extra dirt.
bro your dog is so cuteeee
That red n white F sticker on the head is fastheads, so the vavles could of been replaced with stainless or titanium vavles with the correct spring for them, probably ported.
Thank, Joe! Looks like a great bike.
great vid, really enjoying your channel, you pick up some wonderful bikes, top tip for you, when bleeding brakes, you need to close the bleed nipple before releasing the lever, otherwise it actually sucks air back in, personally what i do it top the reservoir up, open the nipple and let it drip/trickle, then i put a tube over the bleed nipple with a big syringe, and suck the air/fluid through until i just have fluid coming, and keep an eye on the fluid level, there's other ways of doing it, but this is the easiest way when on your own, and the most effective i find, best wishes
I really enjoy your videos.....very relaxing and you helped me out a few times with some tips/tricks. The blue paper/hand towels you are using, do you maybe have a name or link where I can buy it? Seems like its much more robust than normal white hand paper towels.
IMHO Joe should have an Amazon Affiliates link of tools and supplies. Think blue shop towels - Scott Shop Original (Walmart/Autozone) low lint and a little heavier than paper towels. The dealership I worked at used Wypalls (L30 or l40)
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it! I use shop towels. I have gotten them from Menards, Fleet Farm, and Lowes! I hope that helps! Have a great week!
When you pulled off the oil filter cover, I didn't see a spring. There should be a spring between the cover and filter. You want to make sure it's there, it keeps the filter tight against the case, it's important. Nice bike.
Thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate it!
Little TLC and that would sell for $2500 all day! Do the regular carb clean, oil change, set the valves, new chain, etc.! Excellent score! As many times that you have to clean Carb's, you should invest in a ultrasonic cleaner 👍
God, I absolutely HAAAAATE when you wipe shit down with those blue paper towels .. it’s literally like a nail on a chalk board for me .. I have to fast forward through the parts where you use em lol
He's a fast little dog!
Bring your tensioner all the way in and go from there. Looks like they are bout fully engaged. Great bike, great vid!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Nice find! your brake bleeding skills seem to leave a little bit to be desired (look at that air coming out! 😲 *sucks more air back in*🤣) but hey, we live and we learn.
I was thinking the same thing
Awesome video. I would have started soak in that chain first thing cuz you know you're going to take it for a test ride😊
I was thinking the same thing. Ideally, soak overnight in a degreaser, we were cheap and used vinegar, then lube with lithium grease.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate it!
Great deal. And equal video !! Vin man getting it done ✔
Love the channel. Great looking bike, TRADE? Did we lose a member of the fleet?
Amazing video as always great luck on the $800 bike I don’t know if anyone can relate but I’ve never liked the look of the older kx’s especially because the rear end sits so low compared to the front
Vinny is in to it love how he chased you
He loves chasing the machines! He is a great dog!
Vinny almost had you in the race hahaha. Awesome video. Nice work.
Haha Vinnie is extremely fast! Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
thank god keep the videos coming broski
Thanks for watching! I am glad that you enjoy the videos!
@@2vintage you made me feel like it isnt impossible to fix n flip bikes any advice on starting my own youtube channel man
Great video .did you ever think of getting a Honda Odyssey fl250 or fl350 that would make agreat
Vinny’s sole purpose on your team is to keep all the bears chased away. And, he is doing an amazing job! I have not seen one single bear after watching hours of your videos.😂
When you bleed brakes you pump it up untill it builds pressure, hold brake in, then crack bleeder as your holding brake. Close bleeder and repeat untill no air
That kwacker is a steal, watching from Ireland.great videos!
first year of the bike model, pretty much the same as a 2008, not like you were ripped off =p keep up the good work, love the vids!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Was that mark the right one for the back wheel being all the way forward? I don’t know, just asking 🤷🏼 nice easy fix for a change 🤣👍🏽
Vinny thinks it's a little ruff!😊
Nice catch man!!!
You do awesome work joe. Good job!
Thanks man! I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
This is so funny because my name is Joe and my brothers name is Vinny, what a combo. Good work man, looking to get a 250 two stroke soon
