    I agree: the ref should call for VAR, not VAR demanding that the ref should come to it. VAR is meant to assist the ref but some people seem to think it is there to overrule the on-field official. The referee is the final arbiter.

    • @abayomikelvin5153
      @abayomikelvin5153 Před 4 měsíci

      And that will reduce the mistakes how? The A in VAR stands for assistant, so they should notify the ref when they feel it is necessary like the linesmen do. The refs don't even know calls have been missed half the time.

    • @liamjohnson7887
      @liamjohnson7887 Před 3 měsíci

      @abayomikelvin5153 I think he means, by asking the ref to look at the monitor, they are already implying that he's got his original decision wrong. So he feels obliged to change his decision, when perhaps he was correct in the first place.

    • @weeds56
      @weeds56 Před 3 měsíci

      Or bring in a captains option to object the refs decision.
      Only one objection until the captains gets it wrong.

    • @unknown-yi3mw
      @unknown-yi3mw Před 3 měsíci

      If that was the case the refs wouldn't never use it and haven't got eyes in the back of their heads either, so if they don't see something, they'll never call for it, will they? Greame is right it should be a player and there should be 2, with accountability. The average fan at home can see how ridiculous some of the decisions are so its baffling how clueless these refs and assistants are. If the former players are clueless and mess up then replace them. I'm sure there would be plenty who would be willing to do it. Maybe even open it up to voting from fans as the fans will see through the bias or clueless ones. You could only imagine how bad it would be if it was a Michael Owen or Gary Neville.

  • @MinisterManDan

    The problem with VAR is that it’s often just these refs protecting each other, I don’t know if it needs to be ex players but someone else needs to be in the room with them for accountability. A minor league gridiron league in America had instant replay decisions broadcast as they happen, that’d work too.
    They need a hard cap on how long to review, 30 seconds max. If you need to look at it longer than that, it’s not clear and obvious. They also need to limit VAR to hard yes or no situations instead of having judgment calls reviewed left and right. Offsides or no, did ball cross the line or no. If it’s a judgment call, it needs to be made by the on field ref and keep it moving.

    Lack of stickers it's cuz 90% of team now play with one striker. Again meaning likes of Liverpools van dyle looks great playing against one striker and many are not of quality they once was. 20 years ago it was 442 so all clubs had 2 main strikers. Meaning defending was much tougher. Even I would look so much better playing against one striker then 2. Also there been generations on lack of left wing for England now we have many options. It's about the systems and natural talent and luck of players getting there chance too show quality. I personal think many clubs would do better playing old 442 as u can use that as attacking and defensive strategy.

    Why not make VAR a review system in a similar way to cricket? Put the onus on the managers or captains? Goal-line decisions not part of it, nor offside reviews. Captains if they feel they have a genuine case to overturn a decision have 10 seconds to appeal. Get it wrong, lose a review, 2 maximum. This will stop the likes of Arteta blaming referees and puts his captain under scrutiny.

  • @Dreadeye66
    @Dreadeye66 Před 3 měsíci

    I don't agree that the ref should call for VAR, I believe VAR should be used to get the correct decision. I hate this rubbish it wasn't a "clear & obvious" rule, surely getting the decision right is what we all want. If VAR was used well I would be for it but as it is poorly used & you can not trust the integrity of the people sitting in the rooms (Mike Dean looking after his mate, what a joke) I'd prefer to get rid of it. This season we have had 2 of the worse decisions I have ever seen, Liverpool's goal disallowed against Spurs & Newcastle's goal given against Arsenal.
    Please get rid of it as it is ruining the game unless we can get people that know what their doing running it!

    I cant believe simon actually just used the "mistakes happen" excuse for referees... yeah, mistakes happen, but most people dont get an unlimited amount of time and as many replays as they want from as many angles as they want in order to correct their mistake instantly. I feel like you have to be braindead to have all of that at your disposal and still make mistakes. If you cant get things right with unlimited replays then you're obviously just not qualified to be a referee at all.
    Graeme isnt any better. Says he would obviouslty get every decision right... sure graeme. And every current referee thinks they can too. What happens when you make the "correct" decision and everyone on social media says you're wrong? Then we end up right back where we are now.

Could be some interesting content in there… it might also humanise them somehow and maybe give the vast majority of let’s be honest idiotic and one eyed supporters a new more positive view on referees as a whole and therefore a bit of leeway when the make mistakes.
