- In this video I discuss designing the frame and building a frame jig or frame table to keep the frame straight and true while welding.
Edit. The front cross member should be back at least 13" from the front of the frame, 14" is even better. My drawing shows 12", at that measurement, the axle will hit the drop floor when the springs compress. I discovered this later and had to cut the frame and move it back.
Looks good Steve! The jig table has worked well for me. Two built and two more to go.
Nice work
Meus parabéns, a partir dos seus comentários estou tentando fazer o meu ciclekart 👍
Welcome to the fun
I've been trying to get into this for a couple of years but had not been sure where to start until I found this series. I've been teaching myself to weld and am spending today setting up a better welding card to organize my gear and a welding table. Unfortunately your videos are distracting me from getting the work done!
You can do it!
Steve, vintage is not making spindles any more. Where could I buy the spindles now.? That also goes for other parts that they made?
There are limited choices for a quality spindle, the Azusa spindles work OK, but do have a bit of slop in them. Mark Parnell has made some nice parts for other at his Renegade shop, you can find him on FaceBook
Do you think 2x4s will work for the frame instead of steal?
Not a standard 2x4, no. Some guys have used a few different types of wood, typically something similar to what the original car may have used. Some have used a laminated wood to give it extra strength.
I’m 6ft - how many inches from bottom of seat back rest to pedals?
43 to 45 inches
if you used wood what type and thickness do you need ?
For the frame? I would think something close to 1" x 3", for the body at least 1/4", not thicker than 3/8" to avoid being too heavy
sir do you have drawing ..if you have then please reply me sir
