- We spent 3 days exploring Luxor, Egpyt and stayed in the Sofitel Winter Palace. This is our review of The Winter Palace, which is the historical Egyptian royal winter palace that has now been turned into a luxury hotel stay. The Winter Palace boasts beautiful rooms, fine dining, expansive gardens and a rich history. This was the very hotel where the explorers stayed who found King Tut's tomb, and announced it to the world from the hotel steps. We share more of the history of the hotel, as well as what it's like to stay at the Winter Palace for your trip to Luxor, Egypt.

Hi, we're Holly and Luke!
We're high school sweethearts, married in November 2020, originally from Texas (Holly) and New Zealand (Luke). In college, we saved every spare dollar to fund as much travel as we could fit into school breaks, but after a few years, decided the "normal" path wasn't for us. A breath of fresh air. Finally travellers with information. And good info as well. It is severly lacking. Traveling is all about information. Traveling is input of new informaton to your mind and senses.

Howard Carter actually had his own house in Egypt and didn't live in the Hotel
I assume you did not take a cruise? We are thinking of only staying on land; Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel. My father visited in the 1930s and my mother in 1950. I have pictures.Cruises on the nicer ships are very expensive and quite frankly not so sure it's worth it.
Actually we did! We loved our cruise! We have another video about it!
