We only had one day to explore Luxor, Egypt, so even though we barely slept on the overnight train from Cairo, we went out at 7:00 A.M. to be the first and only tourists at the incredible Luxor Temple! It was totally worth it because it wasn't too hot yet and we took all the videos and photos we wanted with NO other people! Once the first tour bus arrived, we headed back to our hotel and had breakfast (AND COFFEE), but then decided to nap for few hours to wait out the mid day heat before heading to the Valley of the Kings via a $0.10 ferry and $7 taxi. Once again, we felt like there should have been way more tourists than there was, but we weren't complaining!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this CZcams channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
The best advice I ever got in Luxor was from a taxi driver as we passed McDonalds. "Don't get the fishburger", he said. Unfortunately, it was my first time venturing out after having been laid low for 3 days with food poisoning. I'd already had the fishburger ...
I've eaten at that McDonald's and it is disgusting!
I ate at that McDonald's and it was nasty!

I can’t believe how little tourist there are in Egypt!! So amazing to be standing in such a dated, historical place... I mean B.C.!! Crazy!!! And that little boy who walked y’all to the boat was so cute and kind, whet a gem!!
Stay you 😘
Tourists don't come to luxuor and Aswan in summer it's very hot now so that's why there weren't people
@@MyBeboooooooooo i went to luxor and aswan in winter it was very crowded with tourists and the weather was like 25° C
in summer it us higher than 40 or 45 °C
so few tourists go there in summer
Just wait until the tour buses pull in.
My absolute bucket listed trip before I die 🙌🏻
I went to Cairo in November and it was perfect weather. Is luxor the same temp in November as well?
Ahhh! The little boy was so cute!!
I know I miss him!!!
You didn't tip him how can you miss him ?????
Fact
@Ankit Banerjee how is that rude bro?
Not tipping some young boy for helping you is rude !
You have to live with it or go back and find him and give him double.
Guilty conscience ufffffff
@@theheart2585 they said they tried to give him money and he wouldn't take it
Egypt is so cool. I've always been fascinated, so I'm glad to get to see it. Thanks for letting me come along with you, as always!
And I know that people bothering you to try and sell you things is annoying, but I kinda feel bad for them. As you mentioned, they're only trying to make a living, and with tourism down they're very persistent because they're so desperate. It makes me grateful for what I have, even though it's not much at all. ❤
They live by the tourists in Egypt. it is the country's chief revenue. a few dollars really means a lot to them but nothing to you. when I go to countries like Egypt, I set aside an amount to give to people.
The fact is that they don't want to work normal jobs because scamming a few people a day is easier. People in Asia are poor too but the hassle in Egypt is 50 times worse. If you travel on your own without a tour, it's really a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend anyone doing it.
yes, i agree-the poverty is sad. however, anybody nagging me to buy, is an instant lost cause. i'd rather give charity to some kid sitting quietly.
Doesnt Islam take care of its people? Like welfare of any kind?
@@3John-Bishop
Yeah, but Egypt or any Arabian doesn't rule by Islam nowadays, they're puppets govs to the imperial west.
My wife and I were in the exact same sites you were in 2008. There were wall to wall tourists at every location. How lucky you were to visit Egypt and have so much privacy. What a wonderful country. We would return there in a minute. Keep your great videos coming...take care.
till 2010 there were about 12 million people travelling to egypt annually
Man that kid is the best. Like a lil angel 😇
i cried because of that little kid
What a cute guide, Mahmood was so so cute and kind
cool vlog...we were going to go there but missed out. My wife got sick....we ended up staying more days in sharm doing amazing dives.
Amazing! How nice to have the temple and the Valley of the Kings all to yourself at least for a short time. That little boy was precious. Have yall ever visited a place where you were insulted or yelled at because you are American tourist?
We have never experienced that! If people have been mad about us being American, they were at least mad quietly haha
Egypt is very America friendly. I have visited 6 times and we're going again for a two month stay in Luxor in October.
So even though I’m not in the position to travel currently you guys inspire me even in the little things like trying the Indian restaurant just down the road from my house (much to my husbands surprise) and it was delicious! So thank you for all you guys do in inspiring people not only to travel but to try new things!
How was the Indian food?! I am so pleased that you enjoy our vlogs and are encouraged to try new experiences because of them! That is so cool! ❤️
Kara and Nate it changed our world!! It was so delicious and we can’t wait to explore more of it! 😊
Your vlogs make me want to travel to places I didn’t even know existed.
We love hearing that!
Same!

You had no idea Egypt existed....far out lol
Stuart Stripling no actually I have heard of Egypt I was simply making a general comment on their video. Next time I’ll specify.
My husband worked in tourism based in Luxor, it's been great for us as you walked around and he shared his memories there with me. He was angry at first, but with a little bit of research found out the camera ban has been lifted at the VOK.....so now he just jealous as he never was able to even bring a camera into the valley. He even got to do a dig with the archaeologist during the revolution when it was closed to the public. So for him to say he is jealous, that is something :P He misses the place very much.
The little boy "Mamu" for what I heard, made my whole day too😊
Clau Gonl it's Mahmoud
It may be nice to add that Mahmoud means 'a praised one'.
Hlo
They didn't tip the boy
@@theheart2585 Tipping should only be given when least expected and 'bakshih' is a frown upon custom in Islam, which ironically is rampant in majority muslim Egypt!
Egypt is one of my favourite places.
👌👌👌👌
Your life is my life goals
Watching your vlogs has given me the confidence to start travelling with my partner and made me want to go so many places I would have never thought of going before.
I wish I had your confidence and talent for vlogging.
Welcome to Egypt, the land of civilization always 🇪🇬💜
Great vlog guys. How annoying to forget the other lenses, we do this so often and its super frustrating. Still you got great footage. 🙏
It was so cool to revisit Luxor by watching your video. I was there as an independent traveler in 1991 during Ramadan and stayed in the old Winter Palace Hotel. I too had the place pretty much to myself. I fell in love with Egypt after seeing the paintings of David Roberts.
You two are amazing. Bring back memories I have of Luxor and Aswan 20 years ago that will live with me for ever. Nicely done ❤️
The boy was adorable! Kids love to practice English and make friends, all over the world.
What I bring for thank-you gifts. Put a couple of pens and a small notebook in a baggie. Write a thank-you note in the notebook with your vlog address. Add a postcard from Tennessee or Nashville or wherever. Or your photo. They will never forget you! And, may even see themselves on your vlog!!
Gosh Darn Nate! Once again your videography is superb. Capturing the vastness of the columns and open spaces, wall carvings and statuary. Absolutely stunning. Kate excellent ediiting and commentary. I and I'm sure many many more are so happy to have you back.💕
From Algeria 🇩🇿 I Egypt is my next direction inshallah 🇪🇬 💕💕
Did u come then ?
I am so addicted to watching your travels. You two are the cutest couple ever! I love watching because you make me smile. Your positivity, happiness and overall joy make a bad day better. When I'm having a bad day, I know all I have to do is watch you. Thank you for your joyfulness.
Kara and Nate, What I found so refreshing was that you did not feel the need to learn every single historical factoid and instead knew the basics. Instead your videos are so well edited and you placed importance on things like getting to Luxor at 7 am to EXPERIENCE the place by yourself. I am planning 7 nights in Egypt for next year and will now look through your other videos to try to get a feel as to what sights will be the coolest to experience given what my likes are. I can already tell the Luxor will be the highlight followed by the Pyramids BUT only because that is a must check the box sight. I don't think I would care for the Nile cruise but plan on watching your video on that next. Thanks to both of you and keep traveling. Eddie aka Edtravelbug
your videos are so addicting i’ve been binging them for hours on end over the past few days. you guys are just so positive and fun to watch and make every place seem so interesting. there are so many new places i want to go now!

You both are by far the best travel bloggers out there!
aww! The little boy was so cute!!
I’ve been using your videos as part of my homeschool curriculum with my 1st grader! We love watching you guys! This video was perfect because we have been learning about Egypt the last couple weeks!! ❤️
You both are living my dream right now! Waiting on the vlogs everyday. Love from Amsterdam 💕
Marijna du Pre you can make your dream fact . Luxor Egypt waiting for holland ppl .your welcome
Watching this, I think you might be one of the only people in the world to have such awesome footage all by yourself. Truly amazing!
You're so lucky to have been able to see these marvelous things! How wonderful you shared the views of the ancient Egyptian areas with us.
How awesome to have it to yourself! Makes filming easier
You guys have taking me places I only dreamed of seeing thank you for sharing
Mamut reminds me of my little brother which warmed my heart. He would 100% run around showing tourists where to go just to have fun and meet new people.
6years ago me and my family went to cairo for 2 weeks and then luxor 1 week and then ended the trip in Hurghada! such a cool trip:D
This is unbelievably beautiful!! The hyroglyphics on the walls are so well intact after thousands of years! What did the Egyptians use to make the different colors? If only I had the money to go to Egypt and see all this still in its glorified perfect state! I would be so overwhelmed I'd probably start crying! Absolutely stunning
Natural dye.
So cool that you had that whole area by yourselves ! Those moments while traveling are so magical and can’t be explained in words!! Rad video guys !!
Wow! Getting up early & walking around is totally worth it! How amazing!!! 🤗
The privilege of travelling to Egypt on low tourism period is that you get to experience everything all for yourself but the other side is that there are lots of people whose sole income relies on tourists so to those people you were like a very late and very needed pay day for them so you can understand why everyone is trying to offer you some service or sell you something.
Egypt is the cradle of all civilisations 💓
Greetings from the Sultanate of Oman 🇴🇲
I love Kara’s running entrance! (Nate’s all “no running ma’am..”) 😆🏃🏻♀️
Egypt is looking so good. I can't believe you had that place all to yourselves. So insane. Loving this series you guys! - Trevor
Such an awesome vlog!!! I feel like I could just watch hours of you guys everyday!! I started watching your vlogs from the beginning and that kinda has satisfies my needs lol!! ♡♡♡
Wow great to get the whole temple just for yourself! Totally worth it to wake up early to explore new places! Nice video guys!
It's always so sweet to see how Nate wakes Kara up ~ Also, thank you both for bringing us with you to see the world!!!! You have no idea how much it makes us happy and excited for these :> And as always I am glad to see how they're respectful of the different customs of the place. It's what everyone should remember whilst travelling overseas.
this is bringing back so many awesome memories from when I was in Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan!
I absolutely love your videos! I've been following you guys since you started pretty much, and the footage gets better and better. Just wanted to thank you guys for sticking to this and sharing so much information about all these amazing places in the world! :-)
These are my favourite vlogs! I love Egypt!! Good job!!
Great to have you back! Shots and editing getting better by the vlog! Keep going, guys!

Great blog guys, glad you're back
Very beautiful Egypt travel video. Nice place. Great work friends.
Amazing as allways! Love Kara`s outfit!
That’s so cool that you closed the place down! Haha. Love it!
I love how Kara is wearing jeans when it's 165 supposed to be outside! Btw if been subscribed for 3 years! Hope y'all still keep on going around the world it's so cool that you take random people to come where you are and you never stop! That's what I love about you guys! Have a good day! Thanks 🙏!
This is an Islamic country after all. You never shows your knees. Even men don't wear shorts. Plus it was early in the morning so the heat wasn';t that bad.
Wake upto you guys smiling and having a great time. Cant help but smile
❤
How awesome to have the temple all to yourselves!! Totally worth being up early for it! Loved seeing all the tombs and temples in today's vlog!
The colours in the tombs amazes me! It's really neat that it has lasted for so many hundreds of years.
Valley of the kings is soooooo beautiful! Full of colors inside!
Wow Luxor is such an interesting place to learn more about historic facts, and that little boy was so nice to guide you to the ferry!
This is probably one of my favorite videos you guys have done so far.
Amazing vlog!!! I need to visit Egypt! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The way he tries to wake Kara up❤️🔥
Just finished watching your last two episodes and was about to go to bed...yay another video :)
Such a beautiful vlog. Egypt is on my bucket list, I hope one day I am able go!
Such an amazing place ,gorgeous footage guys.
Since my 6th grade report on Egypt- i always wanted to go there and see everything/ met people experience not only tourists sights but what the locals do!!! Im so jealous..

For those who have never traveled to Egypt, know in advance that their winter months starting in December January-March with temperatures ranging from 45-75-78. If you like moderate weather you've got up to April, and after that prepare yourself for some heat! Do not go in the summer months being surprised about how hot it is, for you are talking about the continent of Africa East of he Sahara--and it is not moderate weather in that part of the world. Today it is 73F in Cairo at 7:42 PM. (3/22/19)
Soo nice to see your videos before we go ourselves!!!
Even though we're not early birds either, definitely taking your advice after watching this vlog just to have it all to ourselves also! So incredible! Cheers!
AMAZING!!! Oh to imagine what it was like in it's glory days! Thanks guys!
I love your travel vlogs! Thanks for take us..and also thanks for the tips 😉☺
I have been binge watching all of your videos & as someone who will probably never get to travel to all of these beautiful fantastic places, thank you from my whole heart for living life for us all and sharing your journeys ❤ I’m in awe of you both
YAYYYYYYY...your vlogs are the highlight of my days.
mine too
Love your channel!! Love the energy and the editing is amazing! I travel the world for work myself and you guys give me more and more to see.
I watch a ton of these type of videos and these guys are the best no bull crap and straight up entertainment
What an amazing birthday present!! A new vlog!!! What an amazing place to visit!
Happy birthday Mily!!!❤👏😁
Absolutely breathtaking.
This video was the best way I could’ve started my day!
your travel vlogs bring me so much joy and amazement! Thanks!!! Safe travels kids.
Loved the Valley of the Kings! Wow!
The nefferttiti hotel you stayed in is just one of the best. Aladdin owns the place and has run that place from many many many years very popular with backpackers and the egyptians and the best value... Aladdin and his staff have been looking after tourists for years and will not rip you off. Best views also from roof . And pizzas!!!!
Awesome!!! I got to see three more tombs! Great footage!!!
I love reading world history and was glad to see the valley of the kings in this video.
So glad you guys are uploading again!!! Cannot wait to visit Egypt next year!!
So are we :) Have fun!
Wow I love how you all made this video! Footage and pictures are perfect!
You are so right..we were haggled the most in Egypt. But I do miss the culture and the good food. Great video!!
Wow! Another great video! After yesterdays video I thought you lost almost all material but happily that's not the cases. Love it!
So happy to have you guys back!!
i can relate so much. i once had the awesome idea to go to egypt in august. i dunno what i was thinking. the heat is brutal
It's the hottest place in Egypt
Good tip...
Early adventure, breakfast, siesta, late adventure... :)
We've had several days in a row in Australia (during summer) of 45°C / 113°f and yes you will drink multiple bottle worth of water & still not feel the greatest...
Nice to have u guys back, missed your uploads.
This video (this series) is so nice, I've watched it a few times before and here I am watching it once again! 👍
What people are missing in the discussion is the desperation of the people in Egypt who used to make a living from tourists. Nate laughed about saying no to people 500 times who asked him to buy something. It is not a joke. It is beyond scary for both the tourists and the sad Egyptian people who are struggling to survive the tourism crash.
Kara and Nate, you need to speak to this in your videos and not have everything seem like roses and wine.
I totally agree with everything you have said , i have friends living in Egypt and over the past 7 years things have become increasingly hard for them . When you realise that much of the hardships have been caused by the worlds media spreading scare mongering stories ,and from people on social media spreading gossip and rumours ...... When i ever visit i try to donate in tips generously .... Its amazing that you still hear visitors moaning about feeling ripped off over petty amounts usually a few cents , these same people will think nothing of spending $ 5 on a Starbucks Coffee back home ( nearly 1 days wage for an average Egyptian )
@Bruce Robertson: Well, if you're so concerned about the people of Egypt . . . why don't you cancel your internet subscription and send them the money instead (?) Pffffft . . .
I'm glad to see you brought this up, esp given that I grew increasingly uncomfortable as the video went on with the flippant comments about street sellers (and the very American response to the small child). I hope more people will take such issues into consideration when they're visiting and thinking about other countries.
I'm admittedly new to their videos so I'm not sure if the casual disrespect exhibited In this video is an exception or the norm (like Kara yelling "I can do whatever I want!" In a sacred place of worship), but but here it seems respect for the people and/or culture has been forfeited or at least taken a back seat to the entertainment quality of the video. yikes.
I completely agree, I became increasingly annoyed by their "American" attitude. Their tourism is down so much, they are desperate to make a living.
Bruce Robertson Nate is a little bit of a tool.
Hardcore weather. I did Egypt in October and the weather was brilliant. Our tour guide was telling us how all the old people that go in summer don't cope and pass out. Lucky you guys are hardened travellers.
Last shot- Kara and her coffee temptation ❤
So beautiful and fascinating 😊🙌🏻
Kara and I are literally the same person when it comes to sleep and expresso ❤️ the boy and the taxi driver were the cutest!
