- Is Luxor safe to visit? What are the hotels like? What can I visit?
In this video, I will give you my guide to why you should visit Luxor!
Luxor is a city on the east bank of the Nile River in southern Egypt. It's on the site of ancient Thebes, the pharaohs’ capital at the height of their power, during the 16th-11th centuries B.C. Today's city surrounds 2 huge, surviving ancient monuments: graceful Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, a mile north. The royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens are on the river’s west bank.

Thank you so much for your excellent videos. It's been so good I've decided to join. Like you, my son has always had dreams of visiting Loxor and the Tombs I've shared your travels with him and he really loved them. You seem to know where to go and you give pointers on things to do and not to do. Take Care be safe.
That's a lot. Nice place but off season and everything.
Wow. Was that really £1k for 3 nights?
You should have gone to the Winter Palace where Howard Carter always stayed. That is luxury that you can afford!
You should go to grand rotana resort and spa in sharm 5* hotel beautiful infinity pool and like the largest pool you will see
£1k for Luxor is so much. I’ve stayed in many of the Luxor East Bank hotels & have paid nothing close to that. I’m in Luxor currently as my husband is from here & as a Brit when you’re with an Egyptian your experience is very different. No one tries to sell me a thing.
I used to watch this channel on my own to relax once kids were finally in bed, but now its become a channel the whole family want to watch, and theirs really nothing else that we ALL enjoy. Keep doing what you do. Tim, please never stop 😂💙
That is awesome! Thanks Sophie.. and family, means alot
I be watch it with my wife. I have been sharing Tim's videos with all my friends and family.
Really like your honest reviews guy tried to charge u again happened to us aswell❤
Hi Tim its noon surprise to me your channel has blown up hun .I Lways knew hoyd hit the yourube bug time. Your forever fan Laura from shropshire England. My daughter went to bals shop irger day and he was watchin your channel lmao. Your a super star tim. ❤ livegabbi channel also.
I also watch his channel the most I have a fair few favourite channels and walk with me Tim is my number 1 i love seeing the different places he goes and with his family to ❤ and wonder how expensive it is and how he does it lol
I am pretty poor and do not travel so your videos fill me up with great info and experiences. I love how meticulously your describe everything. It helps those of us that cant be there- to feel like we have been.
I wasn’t keen to go but my husband desperately wanted to and eventually wore me down. We travelled with a company known in the UK for looking after “older” travellers and I was absolutely awestruck at what we saw. You have to see it to believe it. Yes there was security everywhere and yes the locals were pushy but travelling in company with a guide gave us protection. A must see destination.
I'm amazed you weren't shocked 🤣
The artwork in the tombs are mind blowing. I have a degree in fine arts...I'm absolutely fascinated with the art and everything else! Thanks, Tim!
Seeing you in Egypt ment a lot to me it was my mums last holiday before she passed so good to see you walking where she walked Thank you 💜
sorry to hear that Karena
Aww that must be a comfort for you❤
He gave you that 5 Egypt dollars because its a piece of history , i mean look at the bill , its all nice and clean. Real work of art ❤
It would look nice framed as a reminder of that moment, and be worth much more for the memories. It's UK value seems to be about 8 pence.
Tim you have a great way of making us feel that we're there with you thanks
Yes, it feels like a little holiday through the screen, it's very uplifting.
I appreciate that
Yes agreed👍💯
Can’t beat a Friday evening watching Tim’s channel
This is the one country that I really want to visit in my lifetime. My parents did a Nile cruise years ago and absolutely loved it. They said the boat and staff were wonderful. I just wanted to say that your photography walking in to the tombs was amazing and made me feel like I was walking there along with you. I dont know what camera you used on the end of that stick but its doing a great job. Thank you x
Thanks Ross
Feels like we were right there along with you...because we were 😂. We were in the same balloon segment as you! Lovely to have some quality footage of the flight as that video you could pay for was pretty rubbish.
And so weird that we travelled so far and still ended up with someone from Norfolk - me and my sister (also in the video) grew up in Winterton 😅
I was supposed to do this very trip 30 years ago with my Grandfather. Unfortunately circumstances were against us and he passed away. So thank you Tim I watched this vlog with glee and my grandfather in my heart x
I’ve seen these places many times on TV but your walk arounds give a much better sense of scale. It’s almost like being there myself! Thank you sir.
Ypur travel videos are the best Tim.I always look forward to fridays and Sundays to see what you have Next . You are so brave
Thanks Brian
I loved Egypt when I went in June 2007. Was nice and hot - high 30s to 40 degrees so I felt like I was back home in Perth, Western Australia, which I had been away from for over two years. It was like another world, which is quite interesting, as I have heard that there may be extra-terrestrials responsible for building the pyramids - I wouldn't be surprised. I did a Nile cruise which was great! I should have paid the extra to do a 5 star cruise but I thought 4 star would be fine. A few teething problems at the start but it turned out alright so I didn't regret it. I spent a few days in Cairo and that was an eye-opening experience. I went to Hurghada for 4 days on the Red Sea and managed to relax and feed fish just in from the shoreline as well as go on a boat dive. I found the people to be very authentic, friendly and accommodating. One guy in Cairo started a conversation and when he knew I was looking to buy bananas he took me down some side streets to find them. I would never have found them otherwise. He owned a perfume/scent shop and took me there and gave me a drink. We chatted for about an hour and he showed me pictures of him with some well-known people. I bought some male and female scents which I found excellent. You only needed a small dab and it lasted ages. Would love to go back again one day...
Visited as a teenager in 1995 still as awe inspiring today . The street of 1000 hassles is the nickname of the bazaar
Hello from Nee Zealand Tim, look forward to you coming here. My cruise down the Nile and trip to Egypt was the best trip of my life, unfortunately was 45° Celsius and really quite unbearable heat, but still worth every moment. Will def go back in April when its cooler. I never got bad belly when all my companions did. I stayed away from anything with water/ice. No salad washed in water, only bottled water, only hot food and probably about 2 tonne of pastires and desserts. I found that staying away from all non bottled water was the key, even when brushing my teeth I used bottled water Thank you Tim, you have literally allowed me to relive so many special moments I had. I love watching you and your travels but this one was just a little more special ❤
I visited Luxor during a Week's cruise along the Nile as a kid. Now I'm finishing my BA in Egyptology and was at a premier for a new exhibition I helped with
The trip really gave me the love for Egypt that I've kept ever since! It's wonderful to see you filming some of the areas I've been studying for 3 years - I've literally been translating a papyrus that records the first strike in history. It mentions how the workers who build the tombs of the Valley of the Kings walked to the back of the mortuary temples that you flew over.
After my Masters that I'll start later this year, I hope to travel to luxor to really put my studies to the test!
Love that you’re doing more than just hotels!
Wow wow Tim … that was an amazing look at places I’ll never be able to see for myself.. thank you for a fantastic experience .. love watching all you create for us 👏❤️🙋🏻♀️

Superb video of the hotel and the Luxor tomb trips. So far most of my holidays have been in Europe but these last few videos have given me a real appetite for a trip to Egypt. It looks an essential trip for a history nut like me and those hotels look gorgeous.
Loved your content. I stayed at the hilton in luxor it was amazing 😊
Wow! Always love your videos Tim, but this series has blown me away so far. Love your commentary about people trying to sell you things and whatnot as well, haha.
Your videos are really my guilty pleasure! Always excited to see a video drop in my subscription box!
Means alot thanks 😊 another coming Sunday
Stunning video, fantastic footage, what an amazing experience. This is just so much better than your recent Dubai visits in my opinion. The sunset on the Nile was beautiful ❤️
Great video Tim! I have been there and it was a fascinating trip! I loved the Temple’s, such incredible history! You were asking about the water and I was always aware of the ice cubes in drinks!
Absolutely stunning views!
Looks amazing, would be too hot for me even on the coolest days. I loved the tombs and the balloon ride looked like a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you for the great video, felt like I was there without the mosquitos!
This video has the perfect balance of walking around the destination and quickly touring the hotel! I love how you show the full walk- sped up, without cutting away- while entering these epic tombs! I've never seen another video do that in these places, and I think it really adds to the experience and context of the place. Thanks for making great videos and explaining why you were "half bored" in this one. The caption still spelled it that way. LOL.
This was such an enjoyable episode, I have always wanted to visit Egypt. Thank you from Kenya 🇰🇪
Do not have ice in your drinks ! Only bottled water. Salads also risky . Eat only hot food.
nope never lol
Fro someone born in the tropics and spent years living in parts of the Middle East, that is the correct recommendation to stop diarrhea and stomach upsets: NO ice, NO salads, consume fruit only that you have washed ( or seen washed ) and stick to cooked foods wherever possible.
Why does the ice make you poorly?
@@ghamandlupin Ice in some countries, Egypt is one example, is not necessarily made from purified water. It may be made from tap water which can be contaminated with pathogens. People who live in those countries are used to the water and can tolerate it.. they may have gut bugs which can neutralize the pathogens. Westerners don't and can become very ill.
@@ghamandlupin probably use local water not good quality
Lovely watching this brought back so many memories of our many visits. A wonderful place. Proposed to my husband on a hot air balloon whilst in Luxor.🐞
thanks Tim for making the day. always excited to watch your vids.
My pleasure!
Your videos are so natural Tim, I feel like I’ve just been walking around with a mate. I also like how you don’t add music and show only the glossy side of things, it keeps it real! Cheers.
Wow that was an amazing experience Tim, great video 😊
So grateful for channels like yours because I have no interest in visiting these countries but also appreciate the history they have. You give people like me a window to the world 👍😘
