Damp survey; Mould or Efflorescent salts?

  • Sometimes, as a damp and timber specialist I'm asked to look at mould and when I get on site I find that the 'mould' is not mould at all, merely salts. Efflorescent salts formed as water in plaster or on wood dries out, can sometimes look very like a white mould.
    This damp survey in Harrogate, West Yorkshire was a chance to demonstrate what to do if you are just not sure if the white stuff is mould or salts.

    Another great video, which shows the benefits of using a qualified experienced PCA surveyor. Good diagnosis is the key!
