  • Failed new build basement waterproofing in Yorkshire repaired by our Deepshield waterproofing solutions section. Bryan Hindle CSSW talks about the way this is achieved and how these problems can be avoided at the design stage.
Basement waterproofing for new homes with only externally applied waterproofing may result in water ingress due to quite minor workmanship defects. The problem is that the defect will be below ground and may not correspond to the place where ground water is coming in. Repairing such defects later is almost impossible. An internally applied cavity drain membrane system would have saved the development from being inundated. When designed and installed properly Type C basement waterproofing is very reliable. However, it also allows repair and maintenance in the unlikely event of failure.
This video includes details of Type C drained protection waterproofing as defined in BS8102 2009. Deepshield are Yorkshire based structural waterproofing specialists and part of Brick-Tie Limited. This house was in Yorkshire and once the cavity drain system was commissioned the owners water ingress problems were solved.
Basement waterproofing for new homes and existing buildings requires knowhow. Our CSSW qualification demonstrates that our knowledge of basement waterproofing has been validated by examination. We design waterproofing solutions for any kind of below ground structure - homes - offices - business premises or even tunnels.
