For such a great footballer Roy had a hard time getting clubs to look at him he sent letter to clubs and they never listend my grand father was a Rockmount player and he told me that Forrest had a scout at a Cobh Ramblers game looking at another player and they saw Roy. But I just think of all the clubs who ignored him made Roy the player i loved to watch even though I don't support United anytime I saw United on TV I'd watch Keane more than the game. I'd see how he ran all over the pitch how he kept a shape in the midfield if you study a good player for 90 minutes you will see why many players put him in there favourite 11. And in todays game I'm always looking at player to see could they be the next Keane iv not seen anyone as good at passing , running , tackles well you probably get a yellow if you tackle like he did. He is my favourite player of the premier league era. And I'm a Liverpool fan even Stephen Gerrard was not as up there as Keane was in my opinion

100%...so underrated in terms of footballing ability. When people talk about the best they can usually point to skill, speed, finishing, passing, dribbling & such. It's harder with Keane cos he didn't stand out as much technically, he was more of a guy that just done everything really well but the best way to describe him is as you say; not to point to technical stats but to his influence & dominance that he just seemed to be able to enforce on games & players. We see technically brilliant players fail all the time in sport, his career if anything shows just how important the mental side of the game is to making it to the top of any sport.
