      You could say the same about Jose Mourinho. Clough was like Mourinho in his era. Both person deserve to be a manager for their national team. Mourinho should be a Portugal manager after all the job he had done with Porto that win UCL in 2003/04 with 80% of homegrown portuguese player

    I heard he once approached
    David Ike and said to him

    Thats a true story.. The likes of Brian Clough we'll not see again.

      Shane, there few great managers around today - give me Cloughie, Ferguson, Bill Nicholson, Shankly over any of those around today - Cloughie and his Derby County and Notts Forest sides were brilliant and entertaining - oh how I'd love to see that over West Ham now.

    Clough achieved everything in football & I'm sure would have won the world cup if the FA had the balls to appoint him England manager instead of the safe option of Ron Greenwood. The only man to have terrified Roy Keane & I'd love to see him handle today's prima donna's! Clough storys are legendary!

Its all speculation but for sure suite profit mongers running the game can't digest the sight of a man like Clough. Football is all but money now. Its hopeless and pathetic.

      Hang on ... Jock Stein runs him close if not better. Didn't the Big Man build a team at Kilmarnock first and then Celtic? Nine in a row when Scottish teams were competitive. European Cup winners with a team of home grown players and nearly a second European Cup in 1970. The difference if it exists is minimal.

    I had the pleasure of attending Leeds United event at the Queens in Leeds a few year back. They had some players from days gone by. As an Arsenal fan I wasn’t overly interested but Dean came on and smashed it! So funny I was crying. If you get a chance to hear him at an award event please go as he is hilarious.

    I think Dean brought that story over brilliantly, I could actually visualise the scene, like a comedy sketch, absolutely brilliant, and without a doubt 100 per cent accurate, couldn't stop laughing 😆😆😂👌

      It would appear so afterall, according to Alan Hill, whose house was the one used for the meeting, none of it happened. Though it's so off the wall, and so Brian Clough, I still wonder, Alan Hill may think he's protecting Cloughie's reputation. Then you ask yourself, why would Saunders tell such an outrageous story and one that he would know would be disputed, unless he knew at least most of it was true afterall. I guess we'll never know for sure, perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle 👍

    Fantastic story. Absolutely pissing myself hahaaa. Cloughie was a true legend of the game. My mum met him once at Old Trafford when Forest played United, she said he was such a lovely bloke who made time to speak to everyone. Not many characters around like that anymore

    I love Brian Clough! ;o) One of the best characters from any profession. Used to listen to Forest on Medium Wave on my little radio with an ear piece when in bed ready for school, got to stay up to watch the European Cup against Malmo, what an amazing manager, all the best geniuses have a wonky side, God bless you Brian and thanks for all these amazing stories you have left us! Well done son! ;o)

    1st time i heard about Clough was in the Damned United biopic movie. And i also saw a couple interviews in youtube with Clough.

    That is funny AS!!!!! God bless Cloughie, the best England manager we never had!!!! I remember watching forest with my dad when I was about 6 around 1990 and he said ‘watch these mate, this is how ye play football’ always stuck with me that. We are Villa fans but he loved that clough Forest team and still goes on about it now.
