  • It's been a while since the fist start, but we haven't forgotten that we have bugs to deal with. Water pump, radiator and most importantly the oil pump needed replacement. Will our oil pressure improve...?

    Your English is excellent and if this is your first engine rebuild than you chose a great engine to start on! Congrats on your excellent work!

    Excellent work Elin.. Slowly but surly, it's coming together. Very respectable oil pressure now, shame the starter isn't man enough.. I guess the head must have been skimmed at some stage plus the new pistons and rings. I hope John will be on camera when he picks up his finished TR-6..

    had not realised that the carb fuel inlet made such a beautiful sound, i am going straight to my garage and i will try my TR6 fuel injection throttle bodies to see if they might play Led Zeppelin.

    I’ve been on the edge of my seat for the last month, but as usual you seem to fix everything on my baby! Can’t wait for the next video.

    Thank You very much for the plastigauge lesson, the first time I've seen it being used!

    I enjoyed this video. Sorting through little problems as well as some painstaking checking of previous work. Nothing hidden and telling it just as it really is. Nice encouragement to get back involved with my own project and for that I say Thank You!

    Hi Elin! I'm going to watch this now with a cool bottle of mineral water.
    Okay, I just finished watching. Great job on the bearings and oil pressure. Those carbs turned out to do a good job and even without the vacuum advance throttle response seems good. Thanks for another treasure chest of tips and good thinking. I remember using Plastigauge on the bearings of my 1959 Corvette more than 60 years ago. 🙂

    It would be a very good idea to replace that original oil filter arrangement with a Mocal spin on filter conversion because the engine would really benefit from an oil filter that doesn't drain out when the engine is switched off

      @RustyBeauties  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Yes, that will happen eventually, but for now we are putting the car together so it can be back on the road and then eventually we will start improving point one by one

    It can still be the battery. You can have a fully charged battery that fails a load test. That’s what it sounds like to me. I have a Schumacher battery tester that I picked up from Canadian Tire that is does load testing, but you can take the battery in and they will test it for free.

    I'm not a big fan of the sequential Webers. They often have a bog of idle and the idle air corrector jets under the air horn have tendency to clog up, and as you noticed, they are gas hogs.
    I'd rather have dual Strombergs.

      We had that discussion with John and for now we will leave them on and we will see how it drives. We can always replace them with ZS in the future if we want to

    Before you mess with the starter, take a look at your timing. It seems like it may be trying to fire against itself.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  Před 2 měsíci

      Tried that, I also unplugged the coil to make sure it doesn’t fire and it was still having hard time. As it turns out the compression is pretty hight. I am showing it in the next video

    I haven't watched the video yet, but remember, just because you have a new oil pump and water pump, that doesn't mean they are good. They need to be measured first, before installation! Certainly the Oil Pump!

      You are right, I usually trust the manufacturer but I should be checking parts. The other day I replaced a temp sender on a TR4 only to find out it was bad out of the box….

    Nice explanations.
    That hose going to the carbs looks like its rubbing on the LH inner fender. Any way to put some protection on the fender or tighten up the hose?

    I would consider removing the electric fan, there should be no need for it with a good water pump and radiator, unless your planing on going to AZ in August. My 69 TR6 never overheated even in Los Angles traffic.

      When the time for tuning up comes we will deal with all spark plugs and other details. For now it runs decent, moving on to next big projects like brakes etc

    Old Dirty Gas strikes again! That's a fancy intake manifold. Why downdraft Webers instead of side draft like Alfa's use?

    I don´t know if the wire and plug new, but if there a bad contact on one side plus or minus you have the same like a bad battery or a bad starter?

    Hello Elon,
    Please remind viewers to remove the plasti-gage residue from the journal and/or bearing before reassembly.
