Y’all don’t know how much this video helped me out, been locked out of this old ladies house for hours trying to break in. After watching this vid her door lock crumbled before me. I’ve always wanted a oxygen tank ❤️
Nope. Wilson Bohannon, but it's still an easy pick. But, since it has ball bearing shackle lock it won't be opened by banging another padlock against it mcnally style 😁
Those pins have such a rounded top you'd have a hard time not hitting the shearline. I've seen country houses closer together than the gap on this lock...
Excellent demonstration! Just out of curiosity, do you prefer to use TOK tension when raking? I typically use BOK tension when raking, because otherwise my tension tool will get in the way of my rake.
Well that was interesting. Now i know why i couldn’t get my lock open I inserted that rake the wrong way and clearly scrubbed it way to fast. Bless yt shorts i dont even have to search for that 😂. Im just getting into Lockpicking. Im still struggling to open 3 pin locks without security pins. Any tips on how to improve finding the pins accurately? I got a practice lock with changeable pins. The CI practice lock to be precise.
I'm a hobby picker and not a locksmith. I just do it for fun 😎👍🏻 My advice however would be to practice, practice, them practice some more. Unless frustration sets in though, in which case, take a break
I'm pretty green at lockpicking, and I stink at single pin picking. I got a new Abus 55/40 and I opened it with a low hook Jimy Long pick within seconds. But then I struggled it for an hour. When I first unlocked it, I had just brought it in from the mailbox. It was cold last night, so the lock was cold. So I put it in the fridge, 30 minutes later, bam I unlocked it again with it cold. Well I watched your video and I wasn't having any luck giggling it, then I did. Have any of you noticed cold effects unlocking your locks?
It can. Pins can become stuck or worn from improper use (meaning picks and rakes). This is why it's never advised to pick locks you rely on. Your front door for instance
@@xCloudyzz yes. Don't pick locks you rely on 😁 I bought a padlock recently and was practicing raking it to record a short video. Something jammed inside and the lock became scrap. It doesnt happen very often, but it does happen sometimes
no i think the bump key pushes the driver pins and the key pins above the shear line allowing the lock to turn. but i just started lock picking so don’t take my word on it. edit: i just looked at a bump key, im pretty sure it uses the kinetic energy from the bump to make the pins align
@@NHGeneral if you are single pin picking then tension varies depending on the lock and the security pins. Some locks need heavy tension, others need light tension. Some require a range of different tension as you pick.
@@Dmaclocksport strike it hard enough it will bypass anything. But in all seriousness though, I'm glad they finally fixed at least one vulnerability out of probably thousands. MasterLock is still useless though
What Am I doing wrong if my raking takes ages/never works? I don’t think I’m applying too much pressure but it feels so hard to move the rake in and out
There could be many explanations as not all locks can be raked. Your lock may have security pins. You're not pulsing the tension enough. The bitting may be to extreme. You're putting too much tension on. Your rake is not suited to that particular rake, try a different one. Etc, etc 👍🏻
I don't know much about lockpicking. Seems to me like you could just use this method with certain keys that just have high teeth on them though. Any reason that wouldn't work?
Yes. Raking works best on locks that have flat bitting. The bitting is the highs and lows of the key. If the key has a combination of highs and lows, it may well be harder to rake. If they're all high or all low, it should be easier to rake.
Lock picking has always struck me curiosity,n I've tried to learn it but it's harder then you make it look, any advice for someone trying to learn this trade

That cutout made for an excellent demonstration as to how the wave rake worked. Very cool. Thanks for this video, cheers

I'm pretty sure you nailed it.
Always when LPL takes wave rake out you know lock is carbage.
Or it's an older design such as a wafer lock meant for low-security applications.
You make it look so easy--for me, raking locks open is somehow actually harder than single pin picking! 😅
Raking only works on locks it works on 😁
This padlock has flat bitting and no security pins so can be raked easily, but that makes for a good demo
A simple example is always the best. Thank you very much.
Now…time to see if I can unlock my caravan door! ❤️🤞🙏❤️

A comb pick would probably also work

🤣 yep, they are rounded drivers. Not intentional, that's how it came to me. It still makes a good visual guide for the technique
In concept, it's basically like using a conventional lockpick on all of the tumblers simultaneously.
Excelente explicación gracias, ahora se como funcionan las cerraduras

Why do you need to apply turning force before using the tool?
Why do they stay in aligned position? What not just make the lock push the pins back down?

my question is: how much force we must apply to the tension tool? real hard or just a tap?
It's best to pulse the tension as you move the rake in and out

Do you always point the tip away from the pins?
Yes. The tip acts to lift the pins initially, the same way that the leading edge of a keys does 😎👍🏻
If it's Master Lock, just bang another Master Lock against it.
