This is a lie! I have a key that doesn't belong to the lock but it fits perfectly into the lock and it is the same identical shape to the key that belongs to the lock. Shimming works, of course improvised shims from cans can usually only be used once as you usually destroy them pretty fast.
If you buy professional shims (e.g. from Sparrows) they are made out of steel they’re thinner and more stable than what you can get out of a can or the cheap crappy shims you find on Amazon.
Out of the four tricks shown in the video shimming is the only really valid method that will actually work in a lot of padlocks, the other stuff isn’t working in 99% of the padlocks.
Of course in a lot of padlocks shimming doesn’t work for example when the padlock uses ball bearings, has too tight tolerances or the latch isn’t spring-loaded.
