World War II Metal Detecting - Paratooper Relic Hunting on the Western Front

  • Team WWIIMD visited last season several battlefields on the former western front in Europe. In the search for war relics we discovered some amazing finds that we will share in our new battlefield research video. Beside a German helmet and paratrooper items, we also found equipment pieces and other interesting things that were left behind in the woods after the war.
Feel free to leave a comment.
Thanks to 'Glider Collection Wolfheze' for identifying some of the relics.

This is awesome stuff guys. Just to be standing where these brave soldgiers fought would be enough for me but you guys take it to the next level. Finding personel items must be tough but for us to see it dug up after 70 years is priceless. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for discovering these relics. most of these places you dig look to be where soldiers have fallen. I know many museums and military units would love to have this history back with them.

I eagerly await the next video. It is very moving to see these items being brought to the surface. There was so much destruction to gain peace in both WW1 and WW2. It truly is an emotional issue for many people. I am moved seeing all the material you bring out. I know it is an exxtremely small fraction of what is out there. Please keep up the great work you do. I hope that one day the world is truly at peace, but at this moment, I know it is far from it. Cheers to you!!!

Jörg Reußner I don't want to spoil everyone's fun. Bear in mind there is a great deal of ordinance still out there, even left over from ww1 in a lot of places. and Every Year I think over 200 tonnes are disposed of. Phosgen gas , mustard, HE, and land mines . It lasts and lasts, and even the pros get blown up once in a while. People will be getting blown up for the next 150 years, and people died on those battlefields. To be honest yes I have gone metal detecting on old military ranges in the USA. I am done with that and I go to safer spots.
