  • Team WWIIMD visited last may the former battlefields of the eastern front, where heavy fighting took place in 1945. In the search for war relics we discovered some amazing finds that we will share in our new battlefield research video. Our most interesting finds where a silver totenkopf ring, SS gebirgsjäger Erkennungsmarke, and a Polizei and SS belt buckle.
We also found equipment pieces and other interesting things that were left behind in the woods after the war.
Feel free to leave a comment.
    Greetings from Holland!

Whoa ... check out right at the 8 minute mark when he pulls the helmet out of the ground, you can see the face of the soldier for a second as it was preserved and then quickly crumbles away. The mouth, nose and forehead were all intact!

I collect infantry items from WW2 and mainly German in origin.
Over here in UK we have lots of reproduction items and have to be cautious in what we purchase, these repos can be very good and sometimes difficult to tell apart from original.
Here you are finding the real deal for shure.
Would love to look for these treasures, thanks for showing us.

My grandfather told me during the war when the Germans were retreating or just before capture or surrender. They would discard or throw away metals/rings even Id plates"dog tags"! esp. the SS officer's.The Russians were not to kind to them if you could imagine and you can't really blame them. They tried to"blend in" but the allies weren't stupid and identified most anyway..that's why you see allot German stuff out there and after the war stuff got buried to clean up..and yes a lot is from battles.. A lot out there to explore and find! great video!

There are days we find nothing interesting at all, and when people have paid to come along and to find relics....you need the luck factor.

I have two great uncle's who died on the eastern front. One was reported killed and the other was missing in action. My great grandfather also died on the eastern front on the black sea. My great grandfather has a grave at Constanza (Romania), but atleast one my of my great uncle's was missing in action.. So it would be nice to atleast find out what ever happend to him/them.
Does anyone know any ship that sank December 20th of 1943? I know that the UJ-102 was sank the 15th, but on volksbund it says that my great grandfather (if it is him) died the 20th.

German M-35, M-40 and M=42 helmets had either a leather or pigskin liner. It was the remnants of the leather that you saw when the helmet was pulled out. If you look close at some of the other helmets that are pulled from the ground, you can see part of the leather band and liner.
