  • Hello guys, thanks for watching our sixth relic hunting episode. In this video we show you the relics we found after spending a day in the German Eifel. We tried to locate US and German positions and we managed to return home with some good finds. This area has seen some heavy and ferocious battles in the end of 1944 and first months of 1945. If you have any questions, please ask. Thanks again for watching and we hope to see you again when we upload the next video!
    Small mistake, mortar tale should of course be mortar tail. No matter how many times you watch it before uploading, there's always an error in it ;-)
    Disclaimer: this video has no political motive or whatsoever, we only want to show you the traces of history that can still be found. Apart from the rules and laws that apply to the specific areas we visit, we always make sure the environment is not damaged and that potential dangerous and illegal finds to possess, such as unexploded ordnance, are reported to the right authorities. We are also aware of the possibilityof finding a missing soldier or ID tags. In case we would find such a thing, we will always inform the right authorities (which we have done several times after finding ID tags) and stop digging ourselves. We will let the experts take over and let them identify and rebury the soldier. We will never take any belongings. Nothing we find is for sale. We don't dig for profit, but because we love history and we want to preserve the objects we find. We have never sold a thing, and we never will. Asking about it is useless. Thanks.

    It must be fun to dig up these history artifacts. Just to stand there and think of what all these soldiers went through day after day just to stay alive. To fight to see another day. God Bless all the soldiers that didnt make it back home and for the soldiers that came back home to their loved ones...

      Welcome.. Please keep doing the hunts for relics. History / statists and war needs to be remembered so it doesn't happen again and again. So bad that countries commit war in the name of virtue and nothing could be further from the truth. Wrapping one in a green costume or the flag of your country doesn't make you bullet proof, and doesn't make murder moral! Just my two pence though as I'm into philosophy! :-)

    I used to find all kinds of stuff in the Hohenfels area in the mid '90's. Shell casings, 75 and 88 mm shells, pieces of tracks, chunks of armor, mortar rounds, bits from C-rations, and other stuff. I guess there was some armors action there during the push to Nurnberg.

    It really depends in which region you want to dig. There are forests in the Brandenburg area that are strictly forbidden to dig in, because of the many missing soldiers. We don't dig in those areas, first of all because it's a grave yard and secondly because we like to dig in places where people aren't really bothered by it. The best situation is to dig on private property with permission, or with locals folks. Especially the last I can recommend. Thanks for watching.

    I don't think we'll lose it all to corrosion in the next few decades, we're still finding brass and lead items from the Bronze Age. The steel will still be recognizable for years to come.

  • @HistoryRevived
    @HistoryRevived  Před 11 lety

    Definately not all, but still a lot. Materials like brass will not corrode for the coming ages, but helmets and thin iron relics will definately disappear in the coming years/decades. It also depends on the soil type etc. The quality of relics differs very much.

    Hallo Freek. Dat verschilt per land en daarnaast ook nog eens per regio. Een tip: probeer vooral op privé grond toestemming te krijgen, dan heb je ook niet te maken met regels die op staatsgrond gelden, je zult verbaasd zijn hoe vaak je op privé grond toestemming kan krijgen! En wanneer je spullen vindt die gevaarlijk zijn, zorg dan altijd dat ze in ieder geval weer diep begraven liggen. Mocht de locatie een drukke plek of wandelroute zijn bijv, dan is melden aan de politie het beste. Gr. HR.
