That just goes to show the quality and wittiness of the show's writing, it ain't _just_ random = funny haha. They made a country for a one off episode and not only does it fit with the rest of the show, it attracted the viewers interest enough for them to connect it with previous plot points and characters.

2 Details I love. Joel Havers character is not wearing any protective gear... at all. No matter what unvirse we're in, the construction guys are all mexican even tho they are goblins.
No helmet... wearing sandals... goblin tanking whisky in the background... lifting things with old-fashioned rope... Charlie's right, this world is stressful.

I feel like the creators read a book or manual about construction guidelines, and deliberately broke every one of them. If they did, I can think of a few violations: 1) What the fuck is that scaffolding, or lack thereof? 0:00 2) Being too vague, especially when someone is in danger 0:00, 1:18 3) Wearing sandals to work 0:02 4) Just hammering shit on the wall 0:03 5) That goblin is driving way too fucking fast lmao 0:04 6) Leaving nails all over the ground 0:05 7) A worker is drinking on the job 0:06 8) The same worker is sleeping at a construction site, without a helmet, not safe. 9) I don't think that's how you should store cement. I know it's probably just a coincidence that Matthew got crushed before his brother could tell him he loves him despite the bit of brotherly drama they were having, on the day that Doug was having his own brotherly drama. However, I like to imagine that he heard Doug was having issues with Daniel and kicked him out, didn't like that he did that, and deliberately set up his brother's death just to make Doug feel bad about kicking Daniel out.
I mean, you can't really blame his frustration. His brother's basically an autistic neet without a real goal in life and he's trying his best to maintain his ass.
Even though things worked out at the end of the episode, I wouldn’t have forgiven Professor Psychotic either. I hate that when close relatives do things like these, you have to forgive them because “we are family”.

I'm obsessed with everything about this scene. Joel's sudden completely unexpected vitriol at Pim, that's then glossed over into an earnest sit-down, and then he flashes you with the shitty MS Paint drawing that takes you a second to realize it's supposed to be his dead mom; and then there's the superb subtlety of that brotherly drama that just derails the whole thing and changes Joel's heart. It's just perfect
What are the odds that the Goblin brothers would be in the exact strained brotherly relationship as Doug and his brother? This shows that we are all more alike than different. What a truly wholesome show this is.
A weirdly beautiful scene, reminds me of that scene from Indiana Jones Last Crusade where Indy goes over the cliff edge, and Henry Sr. stands there, saying “oh god ive lost him. And I never told him anything. I just wasnt ready” the way that death can make all those issues and even rivalries instantly seem petty and irrelevant

I love how it starts out with an incredibly grounded and realistic performance by Doug and then it does a 180 with the most frank exposition and comedically wooden performance with the silly Mexican accent
I like to imagine when Zach asked Mr. Boss' VA to animate goblin brother he asked him to write the scene "super convincing" and Marc was like "alright bet" SickAnimations is a blessing we don't deserve.
i love how hamfistedly obvious they make a point to never get on bad terms with someone literally that close to you. they don't even use that much of a metaphor they just drive the point home with no qualms, like, instantly. on my first watch i was like "what is this scene even for was the picture of the mom meant to be a joke" suddenly the stupid exposition by the goblin makes it all make sense and it's a good message, for brotherly love
the way he suddenly snapped at pim made me think maybe prof psychotic may have a point with those painkillers. how many times has he snapped in their private life? scary stuff...
