If anyone reading this comment has watched the horror movie Wishmaster then they might be inclined to believe that the Smiling Friends writers had that movie in mind when they created this death scene.
A weirdly beautiful scene, reminds me of that scene from Indiana Jones Last Crusade where Indy goes over the cliff edge, and Henry Sr. stands there, saying “oh god ive lost him. And I never told him anything. I just wasnt ready” the way that death can make all those issues and even rivalries instantly seem petty and irrelevant
On the one hand, alright this got a chuckle out of me, but on the other hand... this is basically the same sense of humor Adult Swim's had since Aqua Teen days. It's just so bizarre seeing all these people praising the "smart writing" and listing off things that just... very basic writing concepts like... continuity or paying attention to details. The show's fine, completely fine, but if this is genius, Sealad 2021 must be another plane of enlightenment I suppose.
I feel like the creators read a book or manual about construction guidelines, and deliberately broke every one of them. If they did, I can think of a few violations: 1) What the fuck is that scaffolding, or lack thereof? 0:00 2) Being too vague, especially when someone is in danger 0:00, 1:18 3) Wearing sandals to work 0:02 4) Just hammering shit on the wall 0:03 5) That goblin is driving way too fucking fast lmao 0:04 6) Leaving nails all over the ground 0:05 7) A worker is drinking on the job 0:06 8) The same worker is sleeping at a construction site, without a helmet, not safe. 9) I don't think that's how you should store cement. The bucket won't cut it 0:06 10) Doug isn't wearing a helmet 0:10 11) Threatens with violence 0:30 12) Pim trespassed and is in a hazardous area, but this ones on Pim. 13) Cranes are supposed to use standard steal ropes 1:16 14) I can't blame Matthew for this one, but I think he should've cleared way when the crane is operating. 1:19 15) Goddamn, not a day without accidents. 1:23 I could be wrong, but thats all I can think of.
I like to imagine when Zach asked Mr. Boss' VA to animate goblin brother he asked him to write the scene "super convincing" and Marc was like "alright bet" SickAnimations is a blessing we don't deserve.
I'm obsessed with everything about this scene. Joel's sudden completely unexpected vitriol at Pim, that's then glossed over into an earnest sit-down, and then he flashes you with the shitty MS Paint drawing that takes you a second to realize it's supposed to be his dead mom; and then there's the superb subtlety of that brotherly drama that just derails the whole thing and changes Joel's heart. It's just perfect
Plot twist: Pimm sabotaged the crane to drop the container.
So many OSHA violations in one scene 😂
1:36 is this based in the drunk sisters who crashed. The older one survived the crash and was holding her dead sister saying similair stuff
Haha is that joel haver?
where is doug’s hard hat
I love that Joel stood hunched over waving a hammer and bobbing his head for this lmao
doug's constant glitching is so damn funny 😂
Truly exceptional to see a Joel Haver character and Sick Animation characters interact
This is my favorite episode of the whole show so far, it's pure gold
theyre not saying mexicans are goblins. theyre saying THOSE mexicans are goblins
Baseball cap, flip flops and shorts on a construction site. My OSHA certification highlights the hilarity of this scene.
"Fellas, fellas, that thing up there!"
I love how the forklifts in the background are going like 30mph
how did i only realize now how weird the goblins legs are lol
Matt-chew!! Noooooo!!!
1:21
this might actually be the best tv show currently
The cut to the hyper-realistic shot from underneath is what gets me the most about this 😂

Hmm… He’s wearing sandals, a baseball cap, and shorts at a construction site…
When I saw both Joel Haver and Sick Animations in this episode I was like "oh yeah here we go!" 🤣
Ohh that Mom looked pretty hot, too bad she's dead
0:25 love the incredibly fast goblin in the background
The animation change on the closeup of the goblin’s face should not have been as funny as it was to me💀
Of course he's got the best phone
"Fellas, fellas the thing up there!" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
"GUYS GUYS THAT THING UP THERE" **proceeds to completely ignore it until it falls and kills someone**
”Pretty fuckin serious” LOL
Tire swing on the crane. Thats going on the bucket list
No hard hat?
OSHA heart attack generator
Wearing flip flops, shorts a ball cap, no hardhat, and not knowing what "the thing up there." Is crazy 😂😂
I had to pause the episode when he showed his mom's picture cause I was laughing so hard
Sandals on a construction site is not OSHA approved and he isn’t wearing a hard hat. Pim in also not wearing a hard hat

Sick Animation doing the goblins kills me every time I swear

Doug's voice acting sounds like its a dub from one of those straight to dvd live action disney movies.
That or an AMC show
You're telling me their mother is Spamish?
“Oh my gAd! NoooooOOOOooooo!!!!”
I mean I would hate my brother too if he spent all of their mother’s inheritance.
Lots of goblins working construction. And one of them sounds Mexican. Are goblins the Mexicans of the Smiling Friends universe?
I like how they mix animation styles in this show.
My favorite thing about this scene is how the goblin is animated like a child's first attempt at a flipnote

i like that he puts himself on pim's level when he explains himself for his outburst
