  • Since 1976, the Ford Fiesta has been there for countless big moments, little moments, and firsts. Now, after nine generations of the iconic small car, it’s time to say thank you… and goodbye.
Fiesta has played a pivotal role in Ford’s story so far. As one chapter ends, the next is just beginning.

      I mean yeah it was. But I think the CZcams channel "Big Car" explaint it all every well;
The Corsa has taken over and the Fiesta is no longer part of the Top 10 best selling vehicles. Nr. 1 is the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa probably also because there is an EV version available thanks to the PSA platform and on Nr. 2 there is the Tesla Model 3 a much bigger and more expensive car. I think the Ford Puma is the only on in the Top 10 list hitting a respectable 7th place but than again considering the Fiesta was Nr. 1 for the last 6 years or so..
But since the Fiesta is no longer selling well AND Ford saying they lose money on every Fiesta that is build it's proabably time to say goodbye.

Almost 10 years ago my father bought a white 1988 MK2 Fiësta from an old lady in our town. With just 57.000 km's driven then. Her husband died and she didn't drive the car anymore. She shed a tear when selling the car, when telling us how she remembered buying it brand new with her husband in 1988. The car was ment to be a second car for us, to do groceries with and for me and my sister to use to go to school.
7 years of driving later, I moved out the house of my parents to live together with my girlfriend. I brought the Fiësta with me. We equipped it with a rooftop tent and over the past few years this little car showed us around every corner of the European continent. From Norway to Albania to Italy and Spain!
One day, I parked the car in front of the local supermarket. When I came back the lady that sold us the car stood in front of it. She had spotted her car and wanted to make a smal chat. She was glad seeing someone having fun with it!
After many holidays with the Fiësta I wanted to give the lady a photo album with pictures of the car all over Europe. Sadly she passed away before I had a chance to do this.
Now I've been driving a crossover car given to me for my job. But nothing beats that feeling of freedom when first driving my 1988 Ford Fiësta. I was a teenager, felt like the world was mine. It still feels that way when driving the car!
Right now our little Fiësta is waiting inside my garage for the next adventure. It went over 200.000 kilometers on the clock a few months ago. It's a brand new car again because the clock goes back to 0 wen reaching 99.999 kilometers.😅. Love that little car!

Small cars don't crash test well against SUV's, especially if that SUV is loaded with heavy batteries. Producing these small cars in a world dominated by heavy SUVs is challenging when it comes to protecting the passengers from such an impact, which is why most small cars will be discontinued, replaced with bigger, less efficient, more expensive variants.

I was also in love with the Impreza STI and the Focus RS cause of the game and one day wanted to own one of them. Ford in my mind is and was exactly what the name fiesta mean, it was a family car company with a “fiesta” side that everybody loved. At 20 I was fortunate to finally own a Fiesta Sport and I absolutely loved it but as my dream from a little kid I always wanted to buy a new ST or RS. Since axing the RS at first, the Fiesta and the Focus now Ford is going to be a company completely irrelevant to me. Sadly they have lost their “Fiesta”. While I understand the shear fascination with small SUVs, with the whole fleet being dedicated to electric (in the years to come) this just isn't going to work, not because of raw material costs etc but more the logistics of where the general public plug the cars in. Brings back memories... on our school parking lot there were four GFJ Fiestas, mostly without any optional extras, but we who had one were proud of these hand-me-downs, they took us safely to school and back, allowed weekend trips with our friends, and were really spacious. Later I drove a XR2i 16V from late 92 in blue, a spectacular car that I very much loved for a long time. Sadly, like many of its GFJ siblings, it rusted away. The engine was the only thing that lasted. But the memories never faded.
Cars like that are not made by Ford anymore. Affordable hot hatches that blow off the doors of the next level up performance models. That XR2i 16V was quicker 0-60 than the first Focus ST.
Like the Escort RS Cosworth. Yes, I know, it was a Sierra in a Karman-modified Escort Chassis. What made it appealing was also Fords blue collar policy when it came to buying & serciving. Parts were expensive, granted. But the basic service fee from the dealership was for a service for a Ford Escort, period.
Didn't matter if you arrived in one of the chain-driven rattlethingies with 60hp, or the 220+ hp Cossie, Escort = Escort, so the basic service fee was the same. And again, a car to be used and abused, saw a few that had been horribly neglected come back to life with minimal investment.
The Cosworth cemented my love for performance Ford cars, the Ford GT earned my respect for bein extremely competitively priced for its performance, but the Fiesta 1.1i and Xr2i 16V - that's where my love for Ford cars started, and where I learned to like their simplicity, ruggedness and honesty, as well with the Escort Estates - they always did the job you expected from them.
Sadly, I cannot find any of this in todays Ford anymore. For several reasons, but I feel that some of the simple magic has gone. Maybe times have changed too much for that formula to work again. Ford was once a cheap, but loveable and dependable alternative to German brands. With the option to buy a fire-breathing monster variant of the same model if you liked.
Nowadays, it's not cheap anymore. And the fire-breathing has been restricted to Mustangs doing donuts into passerbys at Cars & Coffee.

I don't know why. But this made me cry. I grew up with the Fiesta my parents had them. Passed my test in one, owned one too along with a couple Fiesta-based Ka's. It's like losing a family member. RIP Fiesta.

A Mk1 was my first car, so it saddens me that Fiesta production is ending. It's a shame that everything on the road will soon be an "SUV", and electric ones at that. That's progress, I guess.

Actually, it is exactly the opposite of progress. Making cars bigger and heavier is a retarded thing to do. Meanwhile, EU and US manufacturers leave the market for small, affordable cars to the Chinese without a second thought. So frustrating to see really.

Making only said cars is the retarded thing to do. SUVs have their place - on bad road conditions. Hatchbacks and tiny city cars have their place - on urban, congested environment.

No, its profit, not progress. These were selling brilliantly, its just the profit margins you can skim off an SUV are higher.

Every 3 years, my parents would always buy a Fiesta. A new model of Fiesta released and, they bought it. Fiesta was the first car i got into. Thank you Fiesta for such a good life. I hope you come back one day.

Had a Fiesta Mk8 in Race Red with the Great 1.0 Liter Ecoboost with 100 HP till 2 Months ago.
Had It for 5 Years. Great Memories with it, always worked and it went everywhere. Now I will miss it even more, but as the Story goes we will see what will come next.
Sad to see the Fiesta discontinued but exited what the Future will bring.
