My dad works there! It's such a cool place. One tunnel will feel like a hot Arizona day and the next one over you have to put on a parka because it's arctic conditions! Loved going here when I was a kid.

My brother has been working for Ford in N.Y. over 20yrs. He's a proud member of an ever growing business.
Most realistic about that is that the car always stays in position and doesnt move, just like every Ford after 100k km
300k km 1.8TDCi (85KW) Focus Mk1, still roars every morning like it's nothing. I think old school is better.
Mine mk1 has 283k and runs perfect!

My Dad's Mondeo has 312,000 miles on it. Original gearbox and clutch. Ok he had to change the exhaust, but 312,000 and still going strong is awesome!
-30 is daily here. Safe to say four weeks in a year, temperature will drop down below that at night. We need the batteries to be able to endure this coldness. So this is very important. I like my fusion, it has not failed me so far!

In 2019, for 50' ford capri born, i went in to ford factory, Merkensh with my father, ex menworker of this factory, and i was in to the wind gallery, it was a redbrown capri mk3, best moments of my life
I live in Saudi Arabia and believe me when I say it's extreme hot&hard weather here actually it's hell and ford seems to be handling that like a boss

You could make the bonnet heavier so it doesn't get bent back against the windscreen when changing washer fluid as happened to my mk2.5 focus in a bit of wind.

in 1960 in Wisconsin we would install an inline heat pump to keep the engine block from freezing and cracking. On nights like that, we would bring the battery inside. Vinyl seats would crack and steel-belted radial tires would thump, thump, thump down the road until they warmed up. Material science has come a long way.

I know the guy walking through is absolutely confident that it will not be powered on while he's in there, probably using lock-out-tag-out and maybe is the one holding the key to start it, but there is always that teeny tiny little inkling of thought that runs across your mind of "What if it does?"
You should start the vehicle at that temperature 🌡️. That will be perfect test
If it's a diesel car then it's impossible, the diesel thickens in the cold and cannot be sprayed through the injectors
You don't need a weather factory. Just test your cars here in Minnesota. Then you might come up with a better paint and undercoating from the salt used on the roads. Your vehicles rust out to quickly.

Few years ago I was pretty much decided my next car would be Ford again. Then I looked inside the current Mondeo. While it is not ugly, it does not hold a candle when compared to its rivals. (And sadly that doesn't even include the Passat anymore, you dropped out of that league.)

All these tests and my 1999 Ka still manages to overheat when A/C on at 35C running around at about 20km/h.

What's the purpose? The car doesn't even move! Should've done real world driving test as well! Why? Because your stupid getrag dual clutch on my fiesta fails and needs replacing every year for 4 years! Also to most other asian hot countries. Luckily got rid of the car before the warranty expires.

They test cars in places like Alaska too. This place is rather meant for testing what happens to car systems when its parked in colder temperatures for longer time. And about your gearbox problems, I think this particular gearbox must have some defect in design. Ford auto transmission can stand more than 10 years without problems.

In 2010 when it was -18 I seen at least 25 broken down fords and a few fiats all broken down, my Honda Civic has no issues
I was informed. PS- I have a 2016 ford transit connect and had to apply a Buick like 3rd door seal so water wouldn’t enter the driver side and passenger side. Been working great for a year!
