Thank you so much for this video!! I am not a Miss Fix it, but your excellent video enabled me to clean out my old dishwasher's drain. It was pretty gross. I feel very accomplished!!
Thank you! I have this same dishwasher and was wondering where all these little black particles are coming from every time I put the dishes in. Now Im afraid to lift that cover cause I've never checked under that and have been in my home 10 years...and the dishwasher came with the house so who knows how long its been. 🤢
My jets can be removed, I take them out and the drain sifter, soak them in a batbtub full of hot soapy bleach water. Once I soak those I put them back in the dishwasher and run a full wash with vinegar (1 to 2 cups). Works like a charm.
I have a similar GE machine with a few more buttons and delay start that was already in our house when we moved in back in late 2009. Think I will go check that out on my machine too.
You pulled out the large grate but you did not pull out the smaller grate that is in the hole. You need to pull it out and clean it just like you cleaned the larger grate and also clean out that hole it sits in.
Isn't the filter underneath that white piece you took out? That would probably be where the issue would be at not the piece you actually took off.... And you didn't remove it to wash it You left it there...
That grid that she was cleaning around with the brush also comes out and should be cleaned.
Came to say that. I want to know if the vent cover on the door can be removed?
My GE Nautilus is over thirty years old and still producing clean shiny dishes.. finally getting a full cleaning now!

Good luck!
I have the same one and keep wondering when it will finally die. Lol It works so well I can’t justify replacing it.
Yep me too , mine is Black.

While a more extensive cleaning is always possible, it wasn't necessary obviously.
The real gunk is down in the next chamber.. gravity takes the crud down to the last chamber before the pump impeller
perfect timing, I need to clean my dishwasher
Enjoy!
Thank you!

This video wasn't meant to be exhaustive. Most won't clean anything in their dishwasher and remember, ours didn't smell.
@@VacLab it would’ve been helpful to see the whole thing, especially with the bolts being so hard to take on and off.
What is that tool called? I looked up hex driver on Amazon and it shows the screwdriver hex, not the reverse innie thingie you have ...
Socket. That’s the name of the small bit part. The handle can either be a screw driver or a socket wrench
Also sometimes called a nut driver
Where is the filter?
I have similar but last wash. The water was coming out of the sink drain overflowing. Do you know if cleaning this will help
Can't hurt.
So that pool of water staying there still is normal?
Yup. Been that way for nearly 20 years.
Mine is not draining, any tips?
Check for clogs.

I use dishwasher cleaner and run it through the cycle.
That won't get off stubborn goo unfortunately.
Just take the spray arm off already!
How
@@user-zz4yj7ot2ythere are a couple clips on the spray arm that hold it in, press them in and pull up on the spray arm.
